"White lies" - (B-side - "Facing her" album, 1982), is part of the eponymous EP "A QUEEN IN NEW YORK" produced by ANNIKA AND THE FOREST to accompany Marine Béliard's novel also entitled "A Queen in New York", to be published on May 15th by “Rivages Noir”. The author invited Annika and The Forest to compose the title’s song of the band featured in the novel. A pop rock song with guitars, bass (Victor Paimblanc) and drums (David Aknin), and circumstantial, poetic lyrics (Annika Grill), evoking the book's heroine, and inspired by the musical universe of the late 70s.

"White lies" - (B-side - "Facing her" album, 1982) est le quatrième titre de l’EP éponyme "A Queen In New York", produit par ANNIKA AND THE FOREST pour accompagner en musique la sortie du roman de Marine Béliard du même nom, qui paraîtra le 15 mai aux éditions Rivages Noir. L'autrice a invité Annika and The Forest à créer et mettre en musique ce morceau phare du groupe de musique dont il est question dans le roman. Un titre dans un style rock avec guitare, guitare basse (Victor Paimblanc) et batterie (David Aknin), au texte exigeant et poétique, (Annika Grill), évoquant l'héroïne du livre, et s'inspirant de l'univers musical de la fin des années 70.

Elva is an American singer, born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, on the 26th of March in 1949. She is the famous lead singer in the New York rock band "A Queen in New York”. Elva moved to New York in the late 1960s. In 1975, she met singer-guitarist Mike Bunch, and their band was formed that same year with bassist Tom Arrington and drummer Josh Sorensen. The band performs regularly at the popular CBGB club, (well known to punk rock fans), as well as other underground venues in the East Village. The group was discovered in the fall of 1976 at a concert at the CBGB by producer Scott Miller, who launched their career and remained their regular producer. Success came in 1978, with their album "White light, dark soul".Pioneers of the 1970s pop punk scene, the band became famous for their musical style, which incorporated elements of rock, new wave, pop and even rap in the 80s.Elva was a punk rock icon in her early days, who quickly became a rock star through the band's success with audiences and critics alike. Between 1978 and 1989, the band completed 8 world tours, and three of their albums ("White light, dark soul" 1978, "Facing Her" 1982 and "Rebirth" 1984) spent several months in the top 10 best-selling charts in the USA. The group went on to win 12 Grammy Awards during the '80s, and have sold over 30 million albums to this day.Elva was found lifeless in her apartment in New York's Central Park on the morning of October 6, 1989. The circumstances of her death, caused by a heroin overdose, remain unresolved despite a police investigation.

Elva s'installe à New York à la fin des années 1960. Elle rencontre en 1975 le chanteur et guitariste Mike Bunch et leur groupe se constitue cette année-là avec le bassiste Tom Arrington et le batteur Josh Sorensen. Le groupe se produit régulièrement au CBGB, boîte connue du public amateur de rock et de punk à New York et dans d’autres lieux underground de l’East Village. Le groupe est découvert lors d’un concert au CBGB à l’automne 1976 par le producteur Scott Miller qui va lancer leur carrière et restera par la suite leur producteur attitré. Le succès vient en 1978, avec leur album « White light, dark soul ».
Pionnier de la scène pop punk des années 1970, le groupe devient célèbre pour son style musical intégrant des éléments rock, new wave, pop, et même rap dans les années 80.
Egérie punk rock à ses débuts, Elva devient rapidement une star du rock avec le succès que remporte le groupe auprès du public et des critiques. Entre 1978 et 1989, le groupe réalise 8 tournées mondiales et trois de leurs albums (« White light, dark soul» 1978, « Facing Her » 1982 et « Rebirth » 1984) sont parmi les 10 meilleures ventes aux Etats-Unis pendant plusieurs mois. Elva est retrouvée sans vie dans son appartement de Central Park à New York au matin du 6 octobre 1989. Les circonstances de son décès, causé par une overdose d’héroïne, restent non élucidées malgré l’enquête policière.
