Such a nice game it's hard to believe it's been almost 20 years since it was released and I played it for the first. It's great to watch u playing this masterpiece, brings back so many memories.

Did you know that you can tell by the type of trees what recources the oriental island have in their soil? For example: Tabacco always has darkgreen 'forest' trees Spices always have savanne / steppe type trees Silk always has jungle type trees

Aaaah, amazing ! In my opinion in terms of graphics the most beautiful Anno :) And I agree with the most common statement concerning the high difficult. I once had a well running savegame but then, I didn't dare to continue because I was afraid to fuck it all up haha PS: and oh my GOSH this music !!

I am SO buying this gem of a game that was the best entertainment Eons ago ! - so far I have 1404 history, 2205 and 2070 - Anno is awesome ! all of them ! (tropico 4, 5 and 6 supper as well !)

I recently started playing this game again a few days ago. I always sucked at it as a kid. This game is a tad bit on the too hard side, escpecially when I was a kid and constantly failed at the game:P I still had a lot of fun with it though, and its my favourite Anno game because of the beatufull hand drawn 2d graphics and overall feel and atmosphere. I always liked this game better than 1602 and 1701 despite understanding and mastering those games a whole lot better. And 1404 despite being great feels more like Settlers in many ways. Anno 1503 feels so open and sandboxy, and has that little hint of survival compared to newer Annos. The newer titles might be more polished but they feel more gamey and lack the "everything can happen" feel. 1503 is so cozy and feel so vast and scary at the same time. Anno 1503 deserves the Age of Empires 2 Definitive edt treatment where the original style and feel of the game is preserved but with a new layer of effects and some polish to make it look like "how you remember it", or "how it looked like" in 2002. Add a better tutroial and some quality of life improvements like flags or symbols over soldiers to make them more visible. Maybe train soldiers in squads of 5 (exept for war machines) for bigger battles and less microing of soldiers. Add a toggle button allowing you to see a symbol over service/production buildings as they blend too much with the houses as the city expand. And the ability to place down buildings and interact with the UI while paused to give yourself a few seconds to think when in a tight spot due to the dificulty of the game and for new players. It would never happen OFC because this game is sadly much more nieche than AOE2. But it would be great! :D

Oh so Anno 1503 was the last one with hand drawn graphics? Makes a lot of sense, I felt ever anno since then was kinda ugly (too cartoonish or too moder for my taste).

it is not really difficult... you just gotta pay a bit more attention to your ressources et cetera. That's it :D

i`m so gonna buy this history edition. I have no idea how many times i bought these games but i just wanted these extras specialy the mulitplayer I got these games as a CD GoG galaxy and Uplay but they suck crashed alot. But with these fixed issues as they say i damn hope so that i can play it normaly without getting the message that memory is full

odder opponants are the worst! they have such a damp handshake.

give me this game, but with far larger maps, better AI functioning and maybe multiplayer availibility and i'm willing to spend 40 Euro's on it in a heartbeat.

Nowadays new gen airheads want brainless games like mobile, when a difficult challenge should be the gemstone of any game.

this is not nice graphic, looks like very poor game. 1404 was better and ofcourse 1800 best.
