4:35 Oil springs can be moved latter, so this doesn't matter. Also mining gold in New World is waste of time - Mr Garrik, Arctic mines and pirates for mid game and Trade Union with Steven MacLeod, Feras Alsarami and Fine Handheld Power Auger for Sand mines is more efficient ways to obtain gold then mining in the New World. However, keep doing this series. Good job!

@@Dienaris All more advanced stuff my friend... a guide should not ignore an entire process someone may want/need to know about just because there are ways to ignore it. A person may not have those DLCs to move wells or get gold ore from the Arctic and getting your hands on some of those specialists can be challenging and more late game oriented if you don't have Land of Lions to make it simple. Plus if I ignored gold mines... someone would ask about gold mines.

However, I think will be good to mention (not show, just mention) and more advanced techniques, because many players even can imagine that stuff like this is possible. For ex. almost all middle and small islands in New World (and not only in NW) can be turned into production islands with 0 workforce used.

@@Dienaris I mean yeah of course I understand those concepts as well! But it goes back to basics... this video is for early game stuff and not thinking about zero workforce, etc. Plus, trying to cover every single possible scenario would take way longer than what an episode to be. I will get to more advanced stuff later!

Thank you for the guide! In return, here is a little language tip: "Coração de Pombo" literally means "heart of pigeon" in Portuguese, pretty funny name for an island. "ç" sounds like a sharp s and "ão" sounds like a very nasal "au" or "ou" in English pronunciation. The whole world you could pronounce as "cor-a-soun" ("soun" pronounced as in "sound" but just omitting the "d").

Shift+Click to load the ship full of the same good!? Genius! I have 100s of hours in Anno 1800, always wanted something like that, and never knew it's as simple as Shift+click... Man I'm kicking my own butt now haha And this video is the first time I heard of "parallel loading". SMH. Way to make the game far more complicated than it needs to be! Fully agree, another ship or two and maybe a loading dock, eventually, and life's good.

Started playing a couple of weeks ago, i do what you said not to do, sending 17 ,13, 27 etc of resources to get as close to the mark as possible :D but man does it take time to finetune it, When i think about it only time i need it is when you have one island producing a massive amount of a resource and distributing it to all islands in an area (Pigs sausage soap comes to mind, from my "dirty" island). Cant send all to one in that case. Awesome series by the way, been watching your videos now for almost a month and i always learn something new.

Sure you can send it all to one island. As a matter of fact, that's way more effective than sending calculated amounts to different islands. Simply ue the _Minimum Stock_ function on all but the last receiving island. That way, you only need multiple piers on your main residential island, instead of having to build them everywhere.

about the splitting of traderoutes: If you need 150 rum per turnaround u could also simply add another ship to the traderoute instead of splitting them up. more ships bring more cargo. The only time times you really would have to split in my opinion is when the needed amount vastly differs, like if you need 150 rum per turnaround but still less than 50 cotton. as then the ships will be full on cotton the entire time and slow down the time needed to fulfill the route. however you also could fix that situation by discarding cargo. so basicly you don't need to split if you don't want to, but u made it sound like it's the oonly option. Spliting however got other benefits mostly related to managment or if you want to supply different islands by the same route with the same material.

I actually show that in the end of the video that came out today! Still not producing my own steel beams... Buying them from Archie! At the moment I think he's up to five tons per minute on the restock.

you are choosing High level AI characters and being slow on expanding and reaching artisan level. I would suggest you start with Qing or Bente as they will ask you if they can settle in new islands

My first encounter with Jean I never paid any of his demands and mustered up a navy fleet to destroy his base. Fully destroyed it snd he left the map for a while but eventually came back and resettled. Wasn't really worth the effort to destroy his base when he just comes back at full force

@@clif9710 nah you can't occupy his base once you destroy it. The only thing you can do is keep a dew navy ships around the island to keep guard and I'd he sends a fleet to resettle you just have to destroy the ships before they reach the island. In my experience the best and most cost effective thing to do is honestly focus your attention on your economy and just simply pay his demands and try build up good relations with him. It seems like a waste of money but try building a big enough fleet to destroy his base it costs a lot more and will reallocate precious resources to ship building. Better off doing quests and trying to befriend him in my opinion. But if you wanna destroy his base for the challenge then go ahead haha

For all resources I pretty much just let each ship max and then let it all pile up. Once it has filled storage it just acts as a free rate limiter anyway. No need for fancy calculations, unless you are actually short of course. One downside is if you upgrade your storage capacity then suddenly it can affect how your trade routes work.

That's all well and good if you have production that's not being used on an island or not being used on multiple islands that you need to ship multiple different loads to... You're simply shipping an unused product from one island to another then it's perfectly fine to ship as much as possible and let it pile up. As soon as you start getting into situations where you are using something on an island such as rum and then transporting excess rum to another island or if you are transporting goods from one island to multiple islands then you have to start getting into the so-called fancy calculations to make sure everything is adequately supplied

I wish some of the required calculations and numbers were all together on one page. I have no idea exactly how much my people consume. It says I need 6 fish, is that 6 tons or does each "1" in the production screen relate to another amount or is it a ton?

@@PrimeNPC Yep - all the numbers are in tons The production time of a building indicates how much time it needs to create one ton of goods. i.e. a production of 00:30 means it will make 2 tons per minute

@@Yavorh55 Does that include the supply/demand numbers? So a demand of say 10 fish per minute means it requires me to produce at least 10 fish? Is it worth over producing on anything? I know soap is handy for making cash but I have random stockpiles from transferring items between islands and l don't know what to keep or sell lol. All my islands have like 300 beer each but are barely consuming it

@@PrimeNPC Overproducing is usually not worth it, at least not in a huge amount Over producing by 1 or 2 is usually fine, but more than that just means you have facilities which are using up your money budget but not contributing since they will stand still with your stock full

Great videos, but at 5:14 So you completely skipped how to claim an island (which I was looking forward to). Been watching this entire playlist so far. Do you explain how to do that somewhere else? I mean, I'm sure I will figure it out once I start playing and get to that point, but that is why I am watching these videos after all is to learn ahead of time.

with 3 opponentes i think you have 3 options: make lot of money to buy islands and prepare for war, prepare for war or star a new game (the cheapest and easy one)

I'm not sure I understand. I still don't know how to trade while making sure both islands have enough supply. In the video, you calculated needing 57 rum, and then proceeded to trade 200. Why the calculation then? I know you said in the video that it's for the new players, but I'm a new player and I don't understand. ^^ With needing 57 and supplying 200, you're definitely not going to run out of stock in the Old World, but what about the New World? Are they going to have enough left over?

My reasoning for ceasefire with Jean is it doubles reputation gain ans gives a guaranteed +8-10 few every ceasefire. When I'm at 60 reputation, trade is nearly free and the +20 puts him in alliance territory so I can instantly become allies from ceasefire

Do you like gold from new world better than artic? I thought it was more gold up north rather than new world?

There are pros and cons to both... New World gold mines you can get down to 50 seconds with zero workforce, but it requires at least one legendary specialist and two other specialists that you will either have to keep rolling for at Eli or other sources that you can get specialists from or craft them all at the institute if you have land of lions. Arctic gold mines can be reduced to 50 seconds as well with an easily craftable item at Nate's airship but will always require 100 technicians to work them. There's also not as many of them in the region as there are in the new world.

One thing not referenced in the video is that if you load a ship with half or more of its maximum weight, it will be slower and take longer to get to its destination. That screws with the calculation

No because the times shown in the Statistics Screen Storage tab are real time data.. so they would already have any cargo slowdowns reflected in the time it takes to travel.

@@TakaRU-vid you're right. I misspoke. I meant in a very specific scenario where youre using (é. g.) 38Tons and then you increase population, make the calculation and arrive at 41T but due to making the ship slower it would need a bit more. Love your videos btw!

Two things to also consider. When traveling between regions ships travel at 100% speed regardless of how much weight they're carrying. Second, for that reason I have my ocean trade routes pickup and drop off at islands as close as possible to the region border so that they spend as little time as possible in region where they will be slowest according to wind direction and cargo slowdown. Nether of which affects them on the open ocean. Then I can just have regional ships distribute those goods to whatever islands need them.

I built 10 cannon towers but no one attacks me. Declining every cease fire request and hoping the AI to attack me. Currently have 900.000 dollars and it keeps going up rapid. I could wipe all them AI out with ease.

They work automatically as long as the jobs are provided. There's no unemployment and more population means more money coming in, the cost is in goods consumption

The MAJOR problem I have with the New World is that there simply is not enough room, especially when playing with higher difficulty AI. The region it's self is too small and the islands are either too small as well, or dominated by rivers that take up 50% or more of the usable area. I mod the game just to improve this to something more manageable.
