The Nobel Prize in Physics 2014 was awarded jointly to Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura "for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diodes which has enabled bright and energy-saving white light sources".
The prize was announced by Staffan Normark, Permanent Secretary of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

yes.. we are all looking at it now after seeing the amazing documentary by Veritasium about Shuji Nakamura. 🙂 Thank you yo Nakamura for not giving up.👏

I did in fact watch that video. That is however not why I’m here… I am here because I just turned off my TV, I’m pretty intoxicated right? As I’m turning it off I look in the back and randomly notice the lights behind the actual screen lighting everything up… at that point the blue led video immediately popped into my head. I searched “history of blue led” to try n find the video bc I remember it was so interesting I could watch it all over again.. RU-vid algorithms then caused me to stumble into this video…. it just took me way too long to overexplain this 😂
