I read Dance of Thieves last year and it was amazing!!! I didn't read the other trilogy before it and understood everything completely fine so it's definitely not necessary!!! Hope you love them they're amazing💕💕💕

I feel like no one wants to read the Caraval series and it makes me sad🤣 Like Caraval the book is defo not the best in the series but Legendary and Finale are fantastic and you gain such a better understanding of Jacks as a character which I think enhances the reading experience of Once Upon a Broken Heart so much more! Donatella is such a babe and it makes me sad that so many people aren’t getting the chance to know her :/

I personally didn‘t like caraval at all (because of the whining main character) and everyone was super psycho to me, instead of magical. But I want to read Once Upon as well, and just hope it will be better. Also thinking if I should still continue the Caraval series… You make me think there is still hope ❤

@@carolenie i defo understand where you’re coming from!! personally i think donatella is a way better main character than scarlett and she is way less whiny!! I also think the backstory on Jacks is really valuable! it’s totally up to you what you want to do but there is some good story in those books

Uh you convinced me to give it another try :) thank you!! BTW: I can reaaally recommend the Prison Healer - Triology. I LOVED it, so many twists and turns. And here I really liked the characters and their dynamic. I am basically advertising this book and want everyone to read it :D

I read the Caraval series two years ago and it has always been my absolute favourite and Stephanie Garber is my favourite author, I’m halfway through Once Upon a Broken Heart and I’m loving it even more than Caraval which thoroughly surprised me but I could not be happier that I bought the second book prior!

literally the second I saw the City of Bones (and then Clockwork Angel) 10th anniversary editions at the shops I bought them, I couldn't walk away without it. It was my comfort series when I was younger, I still have a shelf dedicated to the shadowhunter-verse.

I know you loved Evelyn Hugo and City of Girls, so if you’re looking for something similar I highly recommend The Show Girl by Nicola Harrison! It’s very glamorous and set in a similar time period. The main character is a talented dancer/singer and she does shows on stage. It’s super fun and there’s a love story involved. I think you would really like it! 🥰

If I'm being honest, I have read the Once Upon a Broken Heart series first without the intention of reading Caraval. Girl was I wrong! I loved it even more and it's one of my favourite series now! I'd definitely give it a try

@@carolenie if I'm being honest... it's rare I like books because I'm a critical reader and everything is so weird to me. But for some reason I absolutely fell in love with Caraval. But if you didn't like the first book you probably won't like the rest. But it is from the POV of the sister But I believe you could like once upon a broken heart more, it's different and doesn't really have anything to do with caraval. That's my opinion! 😊😊💞

Not even kidding, I had the same idea for my kindle. I bought two clear cases just like the one you have and two pop sockets to have on the back and a bunch of stickers to decorate so if I get tired of having one case on, I can switch it or just take it off entirely

I read dance of thieves dueology first, and then read the remnant chronicles after and totally wish I would have read TRC first! DoT takes place like 7-8 years after the events in TRC and some of the characters in TRC are in DoT and so if you like character focus books, it might hit a little harder in the feels. And it helps understand more so the light magic that is in it ☺️ hope that helps!

I haven’t read once upon a broken heart yet, but I recently read the Caraval series and it’s probably one of my favourites. I think the second book is better than the first though. It probably has the best written romantic tension moments ever, and the writing is so good

I would read The Remnant Chronicles first. I think you’ll enjoy Dance of Thieves and Vow of Thieves so much more if you do. Characters and places are referenced in the duology. It’ll make some of the scenes and people you meet so more joyful and exciting. I’m trying not to spoil anything, but it’ll make it so much better if you do. I was so happy when I got to parts in the duology because I knew places and characters from the OG trilogy.

I read the remnant chronicles before the dance of thieves duology and I would say you definitely don't need to read the first trilogy to understand anything however it definitely makes for an more enjoyable reading experience and I would recommend it! Also This Woven Kingdom and These Infinite Threads are absolutely amazing! I just finished the second book and I'm obsessed. If you like Shatter Me, I think you'll also like her new series 😊

as much as i loved loved the remnant chronicles, i know some people didn’t as much. the first book is interesting in that you don’t know which male character pov is who because it’s a bit of a love triangle where u genuinely don’t know which she’ll choose. but i’d say read dance of thieves duology first and if u love the world and the writing then to jump into the triology after because there’s so many connections you’ll realize after, but it’s not necessary! either way i hope you fall in love with dance of thieves :))

I have just finished the Caraval series and really loved it so I personally think it’s worth it to read it first. I’m about to jump into Once Upon a Broken Heart so I don’t know how much you NEED to read Caraval before but what I can say is that Jacks - who, I believe, is one of the main characters in OUABH - is introduced in Legendary and is also in Finale (from the Caraval series). I personally love having that backstory going in to the next series so maybe you do too. Also, I read the Remnant Chronicles before Dance of Thieves and, although I preferred DOC and I do think you can read it without reading the previous series, I think I might’ve been a bit lost in the world building and some characters’ backstories if I would’ve started with DOC. Hopefully that helps 😊

I read Once Upon a Broken Heart first, and then learned that a certain character is part of Caraval and couldn't resist. I wasn't very interested and then the further I dove into the series the more addicted I got! Once Upon a Broken Heart and the Ballad of Never After are my favorites of the bunch though!

You absolutely must read the Remnant Chronicles first! It became one of my all time favorite series EVER and the Dance of Thieves duology was the perfect continuation. You won't be completely lost if you don't read the trilogy first BUT there is a LOT of key information that will help make it a much more enjoyable read and a better appreciation for the world building that goes on :)

I read dance of thieves first, and recently read the kiss of deception series, and honestly, you don’t need to read kiss of deception first. They are their own stories and the only crossover is kind of mind blowing if you read it in the order I did 🤭
