Oh hey, I was the translator for this project! Thank you for covering this game! I'd like to add that a really awesome person has made a mod for this game that replaces the OST with the PS1 equivalents. Even the one original song in this game (the dungeon theme) was recreated in the PS1 soundfont for the mod. It can be found on GameBanana. Also, I wouldn't say trapped chests are that troublesome. Chests only have a 12% chance of being trapped, and map erasure is 25% on top of that, so the actual chance of erasing your map when opening a chest is only 3%. Nevertheless, the spell Liftoma that Maki's initial Persona learns will nullify all traps until an entire moon cycle has passed. It's an initial Persona, so the SP cost is very low meaning the only obstacle in the way of always keeping it on is grinding the Persona to rank 7 to learn it.
With Aigis the First Mission coming soon i hope we get that Persona 2 one sometime Maybe with an eventual port of 2? Apparently Keith Silverstein (Tatsuya's VA) actually did record dialogue for EP that never got used, but if they ported 2 they could maybe use the audio like how FF type-0 had most of its voice acting recorded before the port but was only used for that

Huh so basically it was a Mystery Dungeon version of Persona 1? Interesting. Maybe the reason they didn't talk about their climb of that Tower was because of the trauma of so many trapped chests and losing their items constantly. So much so that the Snow Queen quest exclusive Party characters & Reiji just left due to being "so done". Thus that is why they are not playable in the SEBEC Route! Nah I kid.

I continue to beg Atlus to do P1 and P2 remakes. DO NOT change how they are structured to be like the modern games; just give modern graphics, streamline the UI and fix the encounter rate. THAT'S IT. CHANGE NOTHING ELSE.
By the way, I was just rewatching this video when I noticed something. At 7:31 you're explaining that, from the Rest Area, you need to re-enter the dungeon then use an Escape Doll. Except you... don't? The portals leading out of Rest Areas can either take you to the next floor... or directly to the entrance. The text on screen even says it: "You can leave the tower from here. Press onward./Leave." Just select "Leave" and you're taken back to the entrance.
Kinda weird most of these games in the archive you mentioned are only on the Switch. Like, the games are going to become lost again once the Nintendo Switch store shuts down.
Man i have been wanting to get my hands on that game for P1. Though it had me wondering for years. If Persona 1 was to remade would that story be a good addition to the remake. Honestly i dont see any harm in that. Cant wait to see those P2 games get translated though
I think adding this in would mess with the pacing. Same with a combined Snow Queen Quest + SEBEC route. There would be set up for one plot, a long detour into something mostly unrelated, before picking up as if nothing ever happened
@123phi123 nah it was just thought I had for ages. Since this was PQ esque that it happened part way through the story and the story wasn't that long though ofc maybe cut it down a few floors or several.
I think it'd be neat as a side dungeon, possibly even with its own separate progression but you can earn some special rewards for the main game. The closest comparison I have is FF14's Palace of the Dead.
