This looks charming - should we count the number of “the f words- are we serious! BTW- I’m Russian & Polish & Jewish & a PAtron of this organization & the Met Opera & these kinds of films are just Euphoria wannabes & really there are much much better things in all the streaming platforms!!
Hi Petra - Those are two very different styles. Sean’s work has its roots in the neo-realist tradition. He highlights the denizens of America’s underbelly, bringing attention to their plights, by interrogating inequalities, discrimination and social injustice. He destigmatizes stereotypes and humanizes these looked down upon individuals within our society. Don’t be so quick to judge a film! I’ll see you at the screening ;)
Sean Baker is a major film maker. He challenges, especially on our preconceived notions of sexual morality, but I don't think he'd make a film that was exploitative or sensationalist for publicity. The Florida Project is one of the best American films of the 2010s - maybe even in the top 3. You should give this film a chance. You know they always try to make films look as explosive and exciting as possible in the trailer, cramming in every f-word, every small moment of violence etc. Baker probably had no say in what this trailer looks like. Give him a chance.
