Heck yeah. Unlike Hickok45, my .44 Magnums aren't ".44 Specials with magnum capabilities"...they're .44 Magnums, through and through. However, I have a lot of respect for .44 Special and can imagine me doing a lot of tasks with that cartridge. YOU got me thinking more on .44 Special, again 😁 (Goodbye S&W 2.0 10mm !!)
I love it mr. plowboysghost, “ever think you don’t need another gun? Me neither.” LOL I was just thinking when I saw it how nice that N frame might like .44 SPL for carry. Very nice. I always think that I saw a Ruger SA like a Lipseys or something that was like a .44 SPL only with a 3 3/4” barrel. Do you know if they made one? Always thought that would be a “special” carry. Thanks, sir!
I have the same model 29. I love it. The wood grips are too thin imho. I put a set of rubber grips on mine and it’s a tremendous help. That four inch 29 could, for me, do everything I need a firearm to do. Carry, home defense, deer hunting all in one portable package.
Man that’s a nice looking 29! I don’t have one in the collection, and that’s a shame. I did pick up a 90% model 10-8 from around ‘73 recently. I’m pretty fond of that one. Anyways, I appreciate the view of the business end!
I have been REALLY mulling over the idea of grabbing a short(ish) Model 29 in .44 mag. I got a new Sig P226 (Mk25) this summer to cover my full size, hi-cap service pistol needs so now it is time to scratch another revolver itch. (My poor 629 6" & GP100 4" .357 needs some help... lol) While most of the ones I see that are available are the 4" models like you have there, something has been aggravating me to go with a 5" incher. Thing is, I've only seen a couple and they have the full lug under the barrel running clear out to the muzzle. It looks very much like the standard 6" S&W 629 - which I swear, can used as a walking crutch! I wonder if that inch of length will even make any difference to speak of. Carrying it will be a little more of a pain but if there is negligible performance difference I reckon I'll just stay with the 4". I love the way my mid-length GP rides when in a shoulder or even belt holster. Either way, I GOTTA get one now methinks! I LOVE big bore, full size combat revolvers!
The problem with just a 44 special is most 44 specials you can’t shoot a diet of really hot stuff but when firing from a magnum you don’t have that problem!!
@@edwardcreel4571 I've had the 2.75" model 69. I'll bring home a 4" 69, one day. I'd rather have the model 69 over the 329pd I had ..from a durability standpoint...but the new 29 and 629 have them both beat.
I never wanted a 5 shot 44 magnum but finally bought the 4 inch model 69 and from day 1 from a stand I shoot 2-3 inch groups at 25 yards with 44 special
you are maybe a bit younger than me but I always had great eyesight... until recently... it is still 20/20 with glasses tho... To me 5-6 inch guns shoot the best. my 629 in 6 is tied for 1st with 4 or five other handguns for accuracy. 4" has never worked all that well for me but everyones eyes are different. On the 44 spl. I just do not shoot spl rounds in mag guns... 44 and 357 I have the Uberti SAA in 44 spl it is also tied for first and a joy to shoot with my handloads. it is the near 5" model.. you know the 'gunfighter' one. Good luck with the 4" smith.. I never had much luck with 4" guns even the 1911 Commander compared to the 5" LOL... if I wanted a 629 in something less than 6" I would spend the money and have a 6" cut to 5" and a patrige front sight... expensive but I would do it before I got a 4".. Again.. that is just me and my eyes
Are you up to 4 4" N frames now? Or did some walk? I myself have been looking at 29-10s lately...getting hard to resist but I still have my 629 twins...😊. Nice gun!
I like the 4in 29-10's alot but I don't like the grips. They're too thin. They should've kept the original goncalo alves grips. Much, much better fit and easier on the hand for recoil.
Load the H110 with a playing card and let the games begin, but also don’t underestimate the Keith load in a special case it will suffice for most things as well.
My model 29-10 that I purchased last year is having problems with the blued finish being worn off the side of cylinder near the front. It’s not from the screw hole in the top strap either. I already addressed that. Is anyone else having this issue?
One of my most favorite 44 special is a s&w model 21 3" barrel that I put a pair of herrets trooper jordan stocks on. It takes a little bit to get back into the groove of how they feel but if you curl the thumb down like he designed it everything comes together and life gets fun
