Machinist toolboxes, what should be in them and where should they be set up at? LOL, Fighting the flat spots in my shop is one goal that seems to be endless. Glad to be back from our trip to Greece, Turkey , Malta and Italy, jumping right back into projects and work.
“Made in China” is a warning label….
Life is good! Cheers, Keith

Life is too short to fret over "being organized".....but cleaning/clearing your shop/workspace is a must! Keith, you are well organized from what you have shown us; its either part of your nature or not. To each his own, for workplace organization, as long as it's just your space! Thanks for sharing your process.

Keith, you should do a "what's in your trash can" segment every so often to give us a view of what you deem expendable. You could offer it up to a viewer willing to pick it up before the trash truck gets it.

Looks like Keith that you’re finally getting your boxes all organized that’s the toughest thing for any of us to do is going through and figuring out what you can actually throw away and what you actually want to keep. It’s hard to let go of things sometimes but we just have to because we become pack rats if we don’t.

Hi Keith, I'm glad to see a new video. This is my first time commenting, but I've been watching since before the arrival of your plasma cam, and I can remember the big screen elevator build. I wanted to talk to my dad before commenting, but he has the same craftsman tool boxes, not the side cabinets but the top box and bottom. His has a mid section, too. When asking him, he got his in 1969 when getting his tech job at AMC in Haverhill, MA. Just shows that it was a great design by them. Because both of you still have them, his still works great. I can vividly remember exploring it as a kid in amazement of all his mechanics tools. Oh, the memories that we cherish. Keith, keep the great work. Keep up the videos. I look forward to each one.

LOL... When I first saw the top of your tool box, I thought the lid was closed & chit was piled on top. Little did I know... It was strangely calming & relaxing to go through my, er, their toolbox. As a way to recover my strength & stamina after throat cancer surgery in 2020, chemo & throat radiation in '21 & liver radiation this past summer, I've been remodeling, adding on, re-organizing my shop & installing a mill. I've built shelves on every available wall space, sheetrocking the open stud walls & about to do the ceiling for better heating. There's so much disorganization & moved stuff, it's a nightmare soon to be a dream. They told me about the cancer spreading to my liver & to get my affairs in order; my thought was 'affairs', never had one in 40 yrs of 2 marriages, let alone multiples, simultaneously. I don't have a 'Bucket List'; I lived life to the fullest as it went. So, I decided to do the 10 yr re-org/remodel I'd turned into a 25 yr endeavor by working too much. What the hell, it gives me something to live for... can't leave a job unfinished, after all. Seems like the new relationship & vacation were good for you; you're laugh's coming easy, again. Take care... Regards GeoD

Fantastic, a man's gotta know the difference between what makes money or fun and what loses money or fun. It's a never ending process. I still have some stuff that I never even see, projects that will never get done. I try once a year to dig in and purge the waste. This year was stained glass that I used to make a couple panes with, I planned to make more but lost the drive. That glass sat for years on a shelf. Every few months I clean out my Milwaukee pack out and bags etc. tools get lighter, broken or used up stuff gets chucked and I get happier. A couple months ago I got a new to me work van and in the next month or so I plan to have it cleaned out and organized to my liking.

To keep the top of my tool chest from overflowing like that I finally, after cleaning it out for the twentieth time, I just shut the top whenever I get something out of it. If I can’t shut the the lid I find somewhere else for it, and by keeping it shut, the inside and everything in there stays fairly clean. That’s my fix for that, just keep it where you can shut it. Thanks for sharing, good to see you back and to you and yours and everyone else out there, Merry Christmas and have a Happy and Joyful News Years! 🎄🎉🥳🇺🇸

@@KeithFenner Keith, I know you are hardheaded and never listen to any advice on youtube but in this case you are wrong. I am in MA and as a hobby I work on cars. I bought 20 Lista cabinets that were used over the last ten years for a total of less than $4000. They can be found on FB, CL, ebay, factory auctions and so on. That breaks down to $200 per cabinet. Some cabinets came with tools and parts in them that I sold and I ended up making a few grand buying these cabinets so I have them for free now. You have to spend a little time looking for them but they are out there for $100 to $1000 per cabinet all day. New they are over $2000 per cabinet. The amount of room you will save with a Lista cabinet will amaze you not to mention the weight they hold. Each drawer holds 440 LBS. Your craftsman can't even hold 40 LBS per drawer without failing. Plus these are an asset to your shop that you can sell when you retire. If you put these cabinets on ebay they can sell for $1000 or more if you are willing to put them on a pallet and ship them. Every machines guy on youtube has these cabinets and none of them paid the new price for them. I just feel you are working hard not smart. Not to mention the time you spend to gain a few square inches is not worth it. Plus buying, fixing, and filling Lista cabinets makes great video content. So I don't really think there is anything to laugh about. The ball bearing drawers are so smooth even with hundreds of pounds in them makes it worth it alone and you really can get lucky and get them for almost free as I have if you buy the ones from closing down factories.
