The coolant hose going thru under the throttle body is to keep the throttle blade from freezing in the winter but I live in PA and have bypassed most of the cars & trucks I've had with no problem.
Love the videos and I try to watch everything you put out. I recently purchased a 2004 suburban and have been through much of the same as you. My next step is to add remote start with a viper kit. I would be interested in seeing you do an install too.
I normally never comment suggestions on videos to make as this is not my channel, obviously, but I'm sure that we could all benefit from seeing you service your tire monitors!! Great video :)))
Not only is there a torque spec, but there's also a sequence to tighten the bolts.. in case anyone else needs to know. They also recommend replacing the bolts too.
I have 2005 Chevy Tahoe and did my intake manifold gaskets, knock sensors, 1 coil, all spark plugs and connectors but still having some idle issues hmm not sure what's wrong I don't see any vacuum leaks or leaks of any kind.
Idle problems. 50% of the time a vacuum leak, 50% of the time a dirty throttle body. I would have sprayed propane to prove the vacuum problem, and would have cleaned the throttle body. Just tips for your diagnostics portion of how you present. Losing the extension was funny. Fairly good example of how to. Thanks.
Is your pass loc security system bypassed. I noticed the non factory key. My 05 tahoe leaves me stranded at least once a month. I have to do the 45 minute reset to get it started. About to send out my ecm to reprogram it out of there. Also check out my vid on broken tahoe drivers seat back.
@@Des420 yes I know that. A lot of backyard mechanics dont have inch pound torque wrenches. 12 to 13 pounds is what I've been told is close so that's what I always did before I got an inch pounds wrench.
Terrible how to video. Definitely not man handling my intake manifold lifting with just gas lines. You need more patience and more time. Basically stopped watching this video. Definitely shouldn’t brush with wire brush on mating surface. So many red flags. NOPE!
I just did my intake gaskets and injectors on my 2004 yukon 6.0 and while I had the intake off and I was cleaning I had oil pouring out of the throttle body, probably a 1/4 quart.... This is common for these trucks to suck oil into the intake causing all kinds of problems from plugs fouling to rough idle to gunk building up etc. There is an updated driver side valve cover that can be installed that will help this as well as a catch can to alleviate the problems with oil infiltration of the intake. Hope this helps somebody else, and thanks for the videos as always matt.
LsxMaxx I love watching your Tahoe videos. I have one myself and it runs great. I love working on my own truck and your videos make things for me to work on a lot similar. THANKS MAN!!!!
So much for a “clean repair” lol wrong relay? The “steam line” serves 2 purposes none of which are anything to do with emissions. 1 it’s the high point of the cooling system, it’s helps with bleeding the system. 2 it apparently helps with warm up and prevents excessive frost and water moisture buildup in the throttle body.
Amazon sells a full kit for this for about $ 70 dollars. Includes valve cover gaskets, injector o rings, valley pan cover gasket and the intake manifold gasket.
Lmfao 😂🤣😂🤣😂 @ 7:46 "SORRY IF YOU'RE IN MY ARMPIT RIGHT NOW!!" Also all your comments and frustrations you make when you work on your car sounds like when I work on my cars. Lol.
😭😭😂😂🤣🤣 swear that proves we are human! I hate when I get stuff flying in my eyes and I'll tell myself that 'I don't need my eyes' because stuff is flying in them
Started watching your Channel about 3 months ago oh, I have a 03 Denali and I'm doing almost all of the same things you have done. The intake manifold gasket on mine was original Factory period after replacing it my Yukon runs like brand new.
New to your channel love your content in my dream project is a 87 to 89 convertible I rock I’d like to know your input on engine choice 5.3 or 6.04642 looking to say naturally aspirated I make 450 to 500 at the wheels Sorry for the broken comment I am using voice recognition
Hey I live in the nyc area and having similar issue with my 2002 suburban. I’m not 100% sure if it’s the manifold gaskets but pretty sure as the flashing engine light and rough idle goes away after my engine temp hits about 170-180F. I do t have access to a driveway or garage since city life lol but I was wondering if I got the parts and if you’re still in the area can you show me how and help? Obviously will compensate for time.
Mine did same thing but it wasn’t throwing any O2 sensor codes. I thought all the same things that I had intake leak, bad injector and other kinds of crap. What ended up being that ceramic in a 02 sensor had a crack in it. When the exhaust had condensation buildup like cold start or at a stop light it would act up. So when It acted up I started unplugging 02 sensors until it cleared up. That’s how I found which one it was but It never once threw a code for that. I found the tip on a old Ls forum.
@@elegantcaraudio yes. I was able to find which one was bad by unplugging it while it was running and it clearing up when I unplugged the right when it was having the issue.
Do yourself a favor and get the metal intake gasket it's right around $100. Better quality with a thicker rubber for a better seal. Fixed p0300 p0171 p0174. 2001 yukon with 266k miles. The lean codes were caused by vacuum lines. Especially the larger hose and seal at the front left side on the intake. That corrected the lean codes.
Great video! Had a question I’m having a similar issue but think the vacuum leak is also affecting my brakes vacuum booster. Sometimes my brake pedal become stiff and hard to depress. Wonder if it’s all stemming from my intake gaskets
Looking back at this job I can't believe this was the first thing I ever did mechanically to an engine with no experience. Probably saved myself a bunch of money though.
Fighting an extension from any engine after dropping it really grings my gears, especially when tearing into an engine and fighting for the parts to come out of the engine bay or tearing into the engine goes 2 well and the tools u use that r meant for the job goes 2 shit, mechanics 101 go straight bipolar on the p.o.s.
This video had me crying I was laughing so hard. Glad to see I am not the only one this crap happens to. You could just hear the fucker dinging around down there.
When you do buy your lights and taillights, don’t buy from DNA Motorsports from the L.A. area in California! They sell on eBay and their customer service sucks!! I’ve been trying to return a pair of lights for over a year and nothing. Great video by the way.
I had this issue a while back with a 236k mile Sierra except it was throwing a knock sensor code too. So it’s a good idea to throw new ones in as well as an oil pressure sensor. I hear those are pretty common issues. That’s probably why someone had been under that manifold before you. I know you mentioned the knock sensors, but I was just throwing that out there for the viewers sake. Great video by the way.
Some suggestions for tail lights/headlights: silicone the housings so they don't leak/weep water. Try to avoid embedded LED lights so the whole unit isn't trash when they go out. The quality from 100 to about 300 are the same. Don't spend more than a couple hundred on all the light upgrades.
If u have foamy head lights get u some clear coat gloss and rag bucket of water clean head lights clear coat gloss after making sure no dirt is left clear coat one even spray let dry 30 mins add one more coat and tda brand new headlights
Sand paper supper fine like 3500 grit or even 3000 if u have runs or if u can't get the foamy off with a rag and bucket of soap * ( note: if it looks clear wet clear coat will make it clear as long as no dirt on the lense)
I bought a 2004 Chevrolet Express with the 6.0L engine and it has 107K miles. I have a P0300 Misfire and sometimes a P0200 Fuel Injector circuit codes that come and go. The misfire doesn't start until in has been driven for an hour and then the engine light comes on. The engine light flashes when I back off the throttle and stops flashing when I get back on the throttle. Looks like the plugs are new. Maybe the 6 & 8 coils have been changed as those are the misfire cylinders. Sometimes misses on #1 also. I've seen where there are a dozen causes so you have to test until you find it. I need to find someone who I can trust to do a professional job without rebuilding the entire engine so for now I have to hunt for it. What do you think about the fuel filter being a problem? It probably hasn't been changed. I just put in a new air filter. Is there a "Most common cause"? Anybody? Thanks.
Enjoyed your vids ! as a owner of a 04 lt tahoe & 02 Silverado many things apply here for me. It’d been nice if you’d had the time to go ahead & pull/replace the oil pressure sender & filter below it while you had the intake out of the way as these are notorious for problems.
Had an 02 z71 gave to me free of charge..fixed the rusted brake lines and the oil pump o ring..it wasnt missing but now it does but only on cold start ups like yours but it soon goes away..think this might be my problem as well...but i didn't watch your vid until after i had ordered 70 $ worth of new coil packs..oh well thanks a lot for the footage.
Betting by how flat those gaskets looked that who ever did that job last over tightened the crap out of them and that’s why they failed. Also betting you roped that pcv coupler when you took it off, as it looked original, making it old as fuck and likely dry rotted.
Love your videos bruh, keep up the great work. When you got your extension stuck got me dead. The same thing happened to me and I left it but I got in a wreck and I saw my extension on the ground I was so happy to see it again lol 😂
When I take my intake manifold off my trucks, I pull the relay and then loosen the fuel cap. I typically end up with minimal fuel at the rail when I disconnect it. Didn't read all the comments, so I don't know if someone mentioned this already.
You shouldn't block or plug the coolant line that passes through throttle body on a daily driver. It is there to help smooth out the idle in cold weather.
Great time to change the oil pressure sensor on the LS1 when the intake manifold is off. The knock sensor covers looked good and tight but you might be back in there some day for those, too.
