How many have you seen? I have never witnessed one. Only a few videos repeatedly posted. I have snapped SRAM X01 carbon and Shimano XT aluminum cranks. It happens with all brands. Haters gonna hate.
@MayerMTB
@MayerMTB 18 дней назад
@@AverageJoe97 they snap all the time. My friend has broken 2 and he is not a hardcore rider. There is a reason on all of 5 devs ads on Instagram they have comments turned off. If comments were turned on you would see all the comments about broken crank arms. Why do you think they have started making solid crank arms. These cranks are a gimmick and are unsafe to ride.

Besides the R&D some companies do like for example 5DEV, you start to wonder how much markup they actually ask for such products when you see a Chinese manufacturer produce these for $70... Keeping in mind they also need to have some profit on it. It's just mind boggling how much overpriced MTB products have become the last 5 years. Around 5 years ago you bought a fully decked out Canyon MTB, all high-end components and carbon frame for ~$3500 max. The current prices of sometimes 11-13k is just insane.
@Lucaldinho
@Lucaldinho 20 дней назад
I agree with what you are saying to a point, but you also have to consider that these Chinese companies are using essentially wage slaves to produce these products at a much lower cost, they probably have much worse quality control, they have virtually no warranty service, and most of these companies are artificially kept afloat by the CCPs easy money credit policies.

This is fantastic for the consumer, we're not stuck with way overpriced brand name stuff that is made in China just same. You just have to be a savvy buyer, if you are an extreme mountain biker, it might your worth to pay for best known quality, but if you are recreational like most of us, you can get just about good quality for a fraction of the price, just be careful of junk stuff, which goes without saying is the same if you buy from bricks and mortar stores, you can buy junk there just the same. The consumer wins!

If you ride a lot then you definitely can't get the most expensive derailleurs, cassettes, chains or cranks because all those are consumables that wear quickly or break. Usually people who have 10k bikes don't really ride that much or hard so they don't break stuff. I ride 100 mtb rides a season before winter and all of the drivetrain parts are practically consumable. This year I've bent two cranks, broken or worn 2 derailleurs, 1 chain, 1 cassette and that's normal rate of consumption for an ebike.

Let’s be honest. Bucklos is not stealing customers from 5DEV. Anybody who has the money and values high quality components is going to buy the 5DEV set. The type of person to buy the Bucklos was never going to buy the much more expensive set. It is still stealing their design though. 5DEV didn’t invent hollow spindles, but that design is *exactly* the same. If Bucklos put some unique touches on the design and built off of it, I’d have no problems at all. China is gonna China though!

Yeah, at first glance counterfeits are a bad thing but I see the point of some clones that are more of a "replica", a German audio guy had such a product last year, the original power amplifier "darTZeel NHB-108" retails for around 50 000€ and the "clone" costs less than a thousand bucks, has a much different design (inside and outside so no problems with the branding) but of course tries to imitate the sound characteristics. He tested it and it works fine and let's be honest: I'm sure >90% of the population spend less than 50 000€ in their entire life on audio/HiFi equipment, so they may dream of some highend stuff but it's far above their financial capabilites or their enthusiasm for HiFi. It's okay as long as they don't hurt patents or gave it the original name (had this in Barcelona a couple years ago, there were a bunch of hawkers here and there however they sold FC Barcelona Jerseys with the official logo of the club and sponsors but without the Nike swoosh. And here the price difference is also very large, so I'm sure it doesn't "steal" customers who wanted to buy a real 5Dev set. It's your decision, I myself would rather get some stuff that's in my budget from more obtainable brands than buying clones/knockoffs (I got a authentic Boss handbag instead of some LV, Chanel, Gucci etc. 1:1 knockoff and have a honest Android phone by Sony and not an iPhone clone (I saw some videos where they got a cheapo Android phone and modded the housing to make it look like an iPhone)), but as I said, as long as it's an off-brand/fantasy brand with good quality I'm okay with that.

Cranks should cost 70$. I think I just bent my 300$ Race Face cranks and last year bent I think 4 FSA cranks that were 40$ a pair. It's just a waste of money to spend a lot on cranks. It's just a wearable part if you ride a lot. Mainly ebiking with normal bike crank hits aren't really a problem even with 175mm cranks. These Atlas cranks that I bent today were custom drilled 150mm. 600$ is an insane price for cranks. If you have to get a BB and a new spider lock ring for that BB it's then 700$.
@LanceBailey-un1qe
@LanceBailey-un1qe 24 дня назад
There is a reason you are bending cheap cranks.. If you invested in a decent pair of cranks you would never bend them and many have lifetime warranty if you did. You get what you pay for… I am 200lbs expert cross country enduro racer.
@rawmancemtb
@rawmancemtb 24 дня назад
@@LanceBailey-un1qe Like I said. Today I bent a 200$ pair of Race Face Atlas Cranks add a 100$ to that for the drilling so a 300$ of cranks. It's not a problem with a normal bike. But it's a problem with ebikes because you have so much more speed when pedaling. Enduro you don't really pedal and when you do it's usually not technical terrain. With XC your speed is just so much slower in technical terrain again it's not the same klind of a problem as it is with ebikes. Yeah the FSA cranks are cheap aluminium that is weaker. But it's a superior product because they are so cheap. It's much better to spend that 80$ a season than buy stupidly expensive cranks. 500$ cranks are just a pure waste of money. When you say expert how many times do you ride terrain a season?

I do have a high BMI but that's because of muscle... You sound like a real wanker. I also mentioned the Atlas cranks cost 200 dollars and are meant for DH... It's far cheaper to buy the 40 dollar FSA cranks and bend more than buy more expensive cranks. Which I also already mentioned. You don't seem to be blessed with many brain cells.
