We agree that log hopping is one of the "weaknesses" of Hawk. ;-)

i guess you're not using clutch to do that because of 12t front sprocket

My friend, you just discovered our little secret of dirt-biking ;-) Lol. Nope, you still need to use the clutch as always. The reason why we installed the 12t front sprocket is two-fold: a) help the bike to go through gnarly and terrain and make it less easy for the engine to stall ;-) and b) yes, help a rider to lift the front wheel more easily with less revs. I hope this makes sense. Both of these goals were achieved and the bike is a lot easier to handle during slow technical riding.

Poisk Adventures really well explained ✌️, but to jump over small 1' creek clutch still needed?

Sylvester, first Graham Jarvis and then especially Tim Coleman taught us to use clutch always to minimize the rear wheel skid. What if it's muddy or really slippery, just power throttling over a log eventually will get you in a trouble. To us, using clutch is the second nature nowadays, hard to imagine to do it otherwise. Hope it helps buddy.

Poisk Adventures nice. thanks for the info. I'll start putting that in my training. BTW I'm using an old '97 KTM 250 2t. What sprocket settings you're reckon?

Sylvester, we don't know much about 97 ktm but for 2t 250 or 300 we would keep the stock sprockets. The stock te300 for example has a really nice low end grunt. Making it lower may make the bike less friendly to ride ;-)))
