After watching approximately 25 minutes of this video I realized that as I was staring constantly at your casting and thinking how beautiful a river and how much I could enjoy just sitting on the bank and not even fishing. The constant movement of the cast is hypnotizing. It confirms that there is no better way to enjoy your day. Catching a fish is just the icing on the cake. 👍🇨🇦👨🦳
Hi Davie. I hope you'll be tying some classic and modern sea trout flies in the next weeks. There's a lot of rivers with runs of sea trout as we speak, so it would be nice to some flies for that kinda of fishing. Thanks.
People who mostly trout fish are too keyed up, I knew I was, so I always used to set the real to the lowest check so that it only just didn’t let out line with the pull of the flow. Then when a fish took I would listen to the delicious purring for a about a yard, then put my hand on the handle, raise the rod, and your in! I recommend it, no stress, dead easy.
Always a pleasure to listen to your thoughts as you work your way along the river. Some of my best days ever were while fishing in a light rain..... the fish are already wet so they don't care. I have been tying and fishing some of the DH style flies on our local Indiana waters with good success. Our local fish have never seen this style of fly and they sip them from the surface. It's not offten that you see smallmouth bass sipping flies. Thank You Again for sharing with us. Best Regards
Thoroughly enjoyed the video as usual Davie. Some lovely brownies, pity you missed the Salmon, not many about sadly. You handle the switch rod very well . I've just started fishing with one and it fish's beautifully. Tight lines. 👍
Unlucky with that fish we’ve all had that 😮. Davie I heard you say last night at your draw about two flies in the salmon box was a pink and orange ally’s and Harry’s rust nail on a double are you going to be tying them.. thanks great video cheers 🐟

Hi Davie, Do you have access to any of the highland burns? I would love to see some fishing on one of those little streams; maybe with some Stewart spiders. Thanks for sharing your fishing. It's as close as I'll get to fishing in Scotland. Thanks, Harold Steele
Hi Harold, I could fish one or two of the main runs into the River Doon and into Loch Doon though you would need to make sure they had a bit of water in them as they can get really low..I'll keep it in mind and I'm glad you enjoy the fishing videos.. All the very best Davie..
I would really like to start fishing on the river Doon. I understand a day permit is between £15 and £45 but is it possible to pay a yearly permit? Thanks.
Hi evilmothericebearkillerbir6016, On the river I'm not casting that far as I mainly work within the head of the fly line which is 46 feet in length.. All the very best Davie..
My husband and I really enjoy your fly tying videos. We saw your June drawing yesterday. How do you enter the July drawing? How do you make a donation?
Hi Julie, I have a PayPal donation button on my RU-vid home page and when someone donates over the month I send them a number for that's months draw..The donations have changed the way I do things now as it has helped me to to spend more time filming towards improving the video quality and sound outside..It also allows me to share the flies I tye and fish..I'm glad you and your husband enjoy the videos and thank you for watching.. All the very best Davie..
Hi Robert, The stretch I am on is a syndicate beat so you have to wait for a few years before you can get a chance of a day when it comes up as most just fish it for salmon and leave the trout.. There's other beats above with great trout Drumgrange and Keirs, Patna, and below there you have a stretch which Ayr Angling club have just below Patna and then you have the Dalrymple stretch all are good waters to fish for trout.. All the very best Davie
Hi Mike, I think it was built around the 1800s when the mill below and the brig o Doon hotel was built at that time though I could be wrong..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie
@@DavieMcPhail Thank you, Davie... It's really interesting how it was built... the staggers in the face. I'm not understanding how they work but they have been doing it quite a while... =] Mike
Hi Robert, There's a few club waters that you can join that have just as many trout or even more as many of the members don't fish for them..Ayr Angling Club have a bit of the Doon just below Patna, there's also Patna AC and then Drumgrange and Keirs up at Waterside which has lots of water..Ask Matt in Gamesport as I'm sure he will know who to contact..I hope this is of some help to you.. All the very best Davie
