"Crayola" is not a brand to be overlooked. I don't know why people ignore the colored pencils in favor of pricier brands; especially if the work isn't going to be sold or placed in a museum, who the heck cares. Tomorrow, I will check Wal-Mart for the colored pencils. UPDATE: I had to go to two Wal-marts, but I got them today. YAY!
I bought these as soon as I saw them in the store! One note about the crayons: it's not just the effect that is like the confetti set. Most of the colors are exactly the same as in the confetti set...eighteen of them to be exact. The new colors in the swirl set are Spring Fling, Tinsel Toss, Summer Sleepover, Pink Parade, Fall Harvest, and Lemon Pickling. So just six new colors, and of those, two have very similar colors to the Confetti set. (Fall Harvest/Rose Parade, Tinsel Toss/Fourth of July). So if you're looking at a whole new crayon set, that might be disappointing. I'm happiest with the colored pencils myself.
I hope the algorithm changes in your favor soon! I'm subscribed and all notifications and it NEVER tells me when you have a new video 💔. You deserve all the success and I hope you reach your 100k goal!
The reason they are different is because it’s a different technology in the crayons versus the twistables. I looked at the patents and I have some of the older ones they color burst where they have a little burst of color that actually pop open when you color with the crayons. Because they wouldn’t be able to handle three colors together, but the twistables harder and they can. That’s why there’s three or four colors together on the twistables. The crayons are actually a copy of the confetti and old color bursts. They have made tricolored pencils and twistables before the technology isn’t new. They just packaged it together as swirls. I’m wondering if they called them swirls to get rid of the SEO with the silver swirls which were made with metal and so cool.
Crayola was the first art supplies of a majority of artist and strangely, though cheap you can make great finished art pieces. I play to get those swirl just to add them to my Crayola collections. So happy you found to review for us. Seems you definitely agree they're similar to the confetti Crayola crayons. The twistable crayon are super gradient, my favorite look other than iridescent 🤗❤️👍🏽💯❤
Thank you so much for sharing, I love watching you and your reviews. I think I will be buying the pencils but I was so surprised to see you use and reviews the crayons. I used to think crayons were just for kids, maybe because my grandkids tell me they are too grown up to use crayons. I will be getting them to watch your channel too. ❤😊
I've been wanting the KOH-I-NOOR tri-color and Magic Color pencils for so long, but the price kept me from grabbing them. So glad I waited and that Crayola made these!! Thank you for the video! :D
I think I really want the pencils. Maybe tomorrow I will have my daughter pick some up for me and my granddaughter! All look nice. Thank you and thumbs up. Grandma Sue in Central Indiana
Those look fun! I think I'll try them. I wanna say I saw them at my Walmart and didn't really pay much attention as I was really looking for something else that day. I'll for sure be going back and paying closer attention 🙂
These look like fun! For the twist up crayons you could number each one with a sticker and cross reference the number on your swatch log. I had to do that with some artist loft markers back in the day. I enjoy your channel....subscribed.
Back to school has been replaced with Halloween at our store. Be sure to look in the clearance areas for these products. They are still on Walmart's website at regular price. Love your review Jennifer. I have the pencils on my desk, but haven't tried them yet.
I agree, the colored pencils are probably the best bet! I bought a set of the regular Twistable Colored Pencils several years ago and they annoyingly have no names or numbers on them either so keeping track of what I've used in a doodle is a pain but I randomly thrifted a single Twistables Crayon and it had the name Dandelion on it so at some point I suspect Crayola stopped doing that to cut down on the cost (but not before they discontinued that color presumably. RIP Dandelion; you will be missed.) I'd recommend to other viewers to try and get the Tri-Tones set second-hand from a reputable person; they're very expensive to import to the USA for some reason and the retail price is ridiculous even though they're good quality. Michaels also has them in doubles, can't get just one, but it's still expensive (my fave is Evening Storm.) Blick offers the Magic FX line in package and individually which can be an easier way to try those big pencils out; I'd consider the Original combo unless another combo is more appealing plus Ko-I-noor also makes Original as leads for mechanical lead holders! I think I also found out the Neon might have UV or glow in the dark properties, I forget which, but I haven't tested for that since finding out lol. And there's a big FX set of Tri-Tones I've seen online but I don't know if it was a special edition or something. Fun Fact: Koh-I-Noor's kid colored pencils has the cutest cartoon Little Mole on the boxes. I found out at random and I'm almost tempted to get one for that but it's a cardboard box, it won't last as long as the tins do, and they don't import them into the US to my knowledge. Absolutely precious though. (One of these days I'll get some official lasting merch with Mole on it; he's a licensed character ala Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty so there's other stuff.)
Crayola = sweet childhood memories :) thank you Jennifer for your videos.. i am always excited on Thursday morning to watch your video there are always fun and informative ..❤
Amazing as usual,I grew up with Crayola and this was so interesting! Love the Swirl Pencils, and I will be picking them up! You are always so talented and share your expertise openly! Thanks, I loved this video and learned a lot! Karen Dirmish, learner 3:58 4:02
These look magic!! Definitely going to buy them....since they look so magical I would love to see you making a magic drawing with this...maybe a witch, an elf, gnome or a dragon?🥰🥰🥰🥰
The crayons are just rebranding existing crayons. Still fun, but I actually already had these sets as confetti and twistable multi color (before the swirl branding). Also have the original “color mix-up” ones. Happy to see a new version make a come back again. Looks like the swirl rebranding came with some tweaks and improvements. The sets that Crayola leaves the color names off of (some marker sets do this too) drives me nuts too.
I still have the original "color mix-up" ones, too. That is going way back! Mine are so old they've developed a strange smell like the wax has gone rancid, but they color just fine still. That 24 pack has mostly white looking ones also that when used reveal all kinds of different colors--so neat!
💜💜💜TFS💜💜💜 nearly had a heart attack for Amazon price of $60 - not $six but $sixty) for just the small box of crayons.. think for now I'll pass... hahaha
As far as the crayons... these are pretty much a rebranding of the Confetti crayons. Jennifer if you look at the majority of the names are exactly the same in both boxes.
Why not label each twistabke with a number. Then swatch. After which you can compare the swatch colors on the back of the box and add the color name to the number you assigned
