I love the sound of a diesel vehicle truck sounds pretty good for a 01 with all those miles! I myself have a 01 vehicle have had pretty good luck with it so whatever you decide to do with it gonna be great.
I have a 97 F250 powerstroke with an automatic transmission and Lost the alternator on a trip that truck won't go anywhere if it doesn't have electricity running to the transmission. until I got a new alternator I was stuck right there. Had one delivered to me put the darn thing in and was able to continue down the road after that. Lee's trucks have a few quirky things about them in that first off they need 1400 CCA in the battery's minimum just to start them with running the glow plugs throughout the cycle and fuel pump these are much better with good high CCA batteries. I'm running dual 850 cold cranking amp battery's. I'll be looking forward to this vehicle on the channel. Especially if she is going to be taken apart for a different project. Great find I just know you have to have some sick plans for this one hopefully she'll be good for them.
That f350 body might be trash in TX but it’d be gold up here in rust country. Lots of guys want rust free cabs to rebody and keep their old super duties going…
I agree with Larry another Volkswagen body van or another bug or maybe another body that you like and put on her and have fun with that way you won't have to do that much modification
Thank you for sharing your videos I look forward to seeing them every week. It makes me want to start working on something to make it run if only I wasn't handicapped lol but thank you for sharing 🙏💙
The idea of a diesel 4WD VW Van being built would be EXTREMELY INTERESTING to watch. Is there any chance that there anybody in Garth's neck of the woods that has a solid VW Van body they could donate to such a KILLER COOL PROJECT?
This is the kind of crazy stuff I do the key is the tape measure. If you can get the engine in there, shorten that truck you could also put the radiator and intercooler in the engine compartment where a bug normally would have an engine and use electric fans, and all kinds of crazy stuff back there for airflow that 7.3 international engine is near indestructible. I’ve seen them with closer to 1,000,000 miles on them. I suspect you do have a bad injector. It sounds like it ,it is hard to tell from your microphone but it is an awesome thought to put Zombug on top of it. You would have no more steering problems or power problems moving those 44s.
Not sure if you'd want to do that much body work, but how about taking another bug, cut what you need, and stretch Zombug to fit the truck. Essentially, turn Zombug into a limo. Just my .02¢ worth.
I wonder if it would be possible to do a top/slant mount radiator like they do on the 6.5 diesels in Humvees for the ZomBug? I have no experience with those engines apart from basic check fluid and telling the mechanics what's broken, so I'm just gonna sit and watch.
Good score on that one guys man im telling you that iceman seems to be quite the guy he really is a good buddy of yours. Hes the kind of friends you want on your side. Anyways garth buddy you do whatever you want with the powerstroke . Im just privileged to be able to come along and watch what you do. 👍 thanks
I would love to take that home. I have a 99 250 but need to upgrade due to new 5th wheel trailer. If you do a body swap let me know I can put the sheet metal on my truck. Or if you just take the axels I'll take the rest
I like the idea of the diesel Zombug. You need to check that engine while doing the swap. It sounded like it may have had low compression in one or two cylinders when you were cranking it, and it sounded like it had a knock once you got it started. 400k on a 7.3l is just getting broke in. I`ve seen these with well over 500k and still running strong.
@garthsgraveyardgarage My opinion is that it doesn't look like junk! To me, it's like why you even ask. We have a lot of pickup trucks here in Arizona also. And there's many people that would love to have them. You even said there was somebody that came by that. Wanted to buy it.
