Actually, Topgun was never a training academy, instead, it used to be a Post Graduate style of school meant to teach air combat tactics, and today, it's a department within the Naval Air Warfare Development Center, based at NAS Fallon. The original location was NAS Miramar, untill '96, when Miramar was handed back to the Marines, and the Naval Fighter Weapons School moved to Fallon, and merged with the Naval Strike Warfare Center, to create NSAWC, or Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center. Also, this school has departments for the Navy's E-2 community; known as Top Dome, the EA-18G Growler community; known as HAVOC, and the MH-60S Knight Hawk community, as well.
Awsome video! I always thought the F-35 was called the lightning II because of the P-38 lightning similar to the A-10 being the thunderbolt II just like the P-47 thunderbolt.
Because it was designed and built by Lockheed just like the P-38. The A-10 was called Thunderbolt II because it was designed and built by Fairchild-Republic, and Republic designed and built the P-47 Thunderbolt.
34:15 The probe is out to reduce costs, maintenance and space. It doesn't really affect flight performance as the probe is thin facing the direction of flight. Great Vid!
Love the vid, hope to see more military 200 scale unboxings, just an FYI Top Gun is a real naval fighter weapons school and that F-14A was a NAWDC aggressor much like your JASDF F-15DJ there 👍
No worries dude, If your wanting a 1/200 USAF f-15C (single seater) let me know, I collect 200 & 400 scale military models myself and I have a few spares and rarer models that I'd be happy to send your way 👍
@@Aviation18 I am planning to maybe get some military stuff soon, I have the AE E175 on Pre-order, I will probably get the next KC-135R that is comming out
In the video you mentioned about the landing gear being white. That’s because if any fluid like hydrologic fluid starts to leak from a hose or a fitting is shows up easily.
The red colored pod on your Topgun F-14 is an Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation Pod, used to simulate missile shots, while flying over an Air Combat Range, and the dark blue colored Sidewinder is a CATM-9M training missile, which has the seeker head, but, no guidance system, no warhead, and no rocket motor. Also, what you were calling the guidance system seen on the lower left fuselage, is actually the fairing for the M61 Vulcan gun.
Why is germany aka my country always messing thinks up? US Air force, Spanish Air force, Royal Air force, ... and then: Luftwaffe (means Air weapon in English) ; why not German Air force???
Loved so much this amazing unboxing!!!. Gorgeous models but specially loved the Japanese F-15 and the Lightning, actually what brand is the Lightning as I'd love to get myself one despite the price?. I take away the quality of Hogan models which I'm actually in the process of receiving my first few models of this brand!!!. Got already the Su-27 Demonstrator which I can attest is as amazing as it can get in this review. Keep up the good work and please bring us along more amazing military models unboxing. Just too cool!!!.
Thanks, I appreciate it and there's no brand, I found it on eBay and I think it's a handmade model, there are a few still on eBay so if you are interested, definitely check them out
That color scheme on your second Tomcat model is an Advasary scheme, one of several worn by the F-14s assigned to the Naval Fighter Weapons School, where they simulated SU-27s, and MIG-31s.
Very nice. Had the luck of seeing the Bell Boeing Osprey in May 2018 when i visited New York City. They were in the Marine Corps "Green Tops" livery and was part of then president Donald Trump's escort.
So the landing gear is white because it makes fluid spills like a busted hydraulic line way easier to spot. Just a fun little fact from a bit of experience
By the way, the Osprey, in its MV-22 version only operates from big deck amphibious ships, not aircraft carriers. The new CMV-22B "CODSPREY" will operate off of the Navy's carriers.
Now, your fourth, and fifth Super Hornets represent VFA-2 "BOUNTY HUNTERS", Callsign: BULLET, and VFA-103 "JOLLY ROGERS", Callsign: VICTORY, and both are CAG Bird Super Hornets, because of the Modex, or side number, and the full color squadron markings. Also, on the VFA-103 CAG Bird, the white designs in the black and yellow sash, are chevrons, not stars.
This was a very well put unbox/rreview video, and I enjoyed it! A question: Why go for such small models? I do understand that, as you mentioned the price is quite low, but even on that level they seem a bit to small. I mean on that scale there are many compromises, the manufactures had to make, in terms of assembly and overall details.
Thank you and personally I think this scale strikes a very good balance between detail and size. They’re actually really well put together models with a surprising amount of detail for being so small, and that’s what I like, small with a lot of detail
F-14: 1974-2006 Impressive lifespan for a fighter but... F-4: 1961-2020 Or is Greece or someone else still using their Phantoms, so maybe it's 1961-2022? F-4 is a phenom, and don't forget, the F-14 was designed to replace it. Plus, no plane looks like it's going to kill you more than the F-4.
The way u.s got their SU-27 flankers is that ukraine demilitarized their jets and sold it to the us back in 2008 One of the the Su-27UB arrived at the USAF Museum in 2023.
When do you plane on Doing another Chicago ORD airport update with a lot more planes than the last airport update please like add sas a330 a350 and please some military planes jets and some cargo planes please🙏
