You can tell by his videos and singing style that Meatloaf was a true showman. I understand that he came from acting and singing in plays on stage, which explains a lot. Actors in musical plays must have a powerful presence both visually and vocally. He didn't just make music videos. They were major productions. Such a talent.

This version of the song makes me tear up every single time... without fail.... even before he left us. Meat Loaf was the best at showing the emotion in any piece of music, including this one. He will be missed.

Hi Sarah, in Meatloaf, genius songwriter Jim Steinman found his ultimate star performer. This song was originally recorded by Elaine Caswell on Jim's concept album "Original Sin" in 1989, as we know Celine Dion had a huge hit with it in 1996, and a phenomenal performance it was. This Meatloaf version appeared on "Bat out of Hell 3" in 2006, and what a version, nearly 30 years after recording the legendary Steinman penned album "Bat out of Hell" Meatloaf does once again what Meatloaf does best, he gives you his heart in every word he sings. Another wonderful Meatloaf/Steinman creation that I'd recommend is "Objects in the rear view mirror" from "Bat out of Hell 2", best wishes

Agreed, but Meatloaf's version was not produced and appreciated by Steinman (actually Raven's singing is simply ruining it), so only the Pandora's Box and the Celine Dion version (where Steinman actually used most of the original tracks) are part of the Steinman-canon.

@@borisbrosowski6630 Hi Boris, apologies for my late reply, very valid point, as a double act Steinman and Meatloaf were magnificent, we know the reasons but I'm sure you'll agree it's a great shame they didn't do more together because together they were phenomenal!!!

This is a much better version than Celine Dion's (sorry Celine, but it is) Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf together were musically, a match made in heaven, where they both are now. This is a wonderful song and video with two talented singers, Meat Loaf was the showman with the humility not to hog the limelight and to give it to the others when their talent shows through. Its not all about him, all of the time. He and Jim Steinman are missed, but what a wonderful legacy they have left for the world

I completely agree with you, Richard...and truthfully, I wish it had only been him singing it. I love Celine, but hers doesn't even compare.

The gal in this video is Marion Ravn, a Norwegian who has a good career as a singer & songwriter. This duet spent 3 months as #1 in Norway, and Marion continues to perform this song at her concerts.

This song was written by Jim Steinman, who created a female rock group called Pandora's Box and they originally sung this song. That version had slightly different lyrics but was basically the same in meaning, about lost love and tragedy. Meatloaf wanted to record it for Bat Out of Hell 2, but Steinman at the time didn't feel it fit the tone of the album and Celine Dion ended up covering it instead. This version was off the Bat Out of Hell 3 album and featured Marion Raven from the band M2M.

Beautiful version of this song...seeing Meatloaf at an older age but still putting so much emotion it his art of singing! Marion Raven is an absolutely beautiful singer and woman! Those voices and emotion are Awsome! Makes me sad he is gone! R.I.P Meatloaf!

Jim Steinman, the composer, wrote this song as a grimmer interpretation of Wuthering Heights. He didn't write it as a duet, but the first time he played it for Meat Loaf, Meat always heard it as a duet; which, if you take it as Cathy and Heathcliff, kind of makes sense...Elaine Caswell's version is the one I listen to the most, but this is my second favourite! And yes, I'm sure Meat and Jim are up at that grand piano in Heaven, making more epically beautiful songs.

For just nice music check out Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris - Our Shangri-La (Real Live .Mark Knopfle and the drummer are from Dire Straits.Thank you young lady and stay safe.Just one thing on the 19 February 2022) Gary Brooker passed. Gary Brooker MBE was an English singer-songwriter, pianist, and the founder and lead singer of the rock band Procol Harum. He sang a whiter shade of pale.A sad loss.

Jim Steinem(meatloafs best friend and writing partner)wrote it for meatloaf but he never wanted to do it.. so Celine took it and use it for years. Meatloaf finally did it years later.. But it was written for his voice. Because no one could do a song like him.

*Steinman And it was because Meatloaf always saw it as a duet, which Steinman didn't.

Sometimes no words are needed for a great reaction, wonderful reaction. The song was written by Jim Steinman who wrote all of the great songs for Meat. I think at the time there was a dispute between them so Jimmy gave the song to Celine but you can clearly hear how it was written with Meat in mind even if it wasn’t originally his song.

Jim Stein wrote "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" for Meatloaf but their schedules kept conflicting so Celine Dion got to release it first. As shown by this version of the song, it was always meant to be a duet with a male and female vocalist. Marion Raven was absolutely great and a great co-lead with Meat Loaf.

The man who wrote it wrote it for meatloaf but she didn't want to do it it's time. He has struggled with losing his voice and it was psychosomatic. After bat out of hell he was such a success and it's still the largest sold in the world ever anywhere. And the only way he can get back into singing is he had to tell people not to call me Rockstar do not call him Rockstar because if he had that pressure on him to perform she just couldn't do it. The psychosomatic block ended when he thought of himself as just a performer he's just out there doing his thing and living his life and he just was happy after that but they gave him a nervous breakdown with that whole what will he do next. Building up a level of expectations that he couldn't accomplish. Which was all in his head but never the last it hurt him it hurt us because that was years that he wasn't putting out records because he was in fear. He had a marriage fall apart in a lot of things going on.. let man who wrote that song with his best friend and someone that he fought with over that. Of time. Of time and it was written with meatloaf in mind that's why it feels like it was always meant for him to sing it even those saline or whoever that did it did a good job. It just couldn't come from the soul like it would with someone like meatloaf who's felt that particular pain. And you're right another amazing singer lost singer lost. What was it that George Jones used to say? Who's going to fill their shoes, who's going to stand that tall, who's going to give their heart and soul to get to me and you? And it's a good question question and it was posted on one of his more famous songs. They brought up some good questions. Because these people cannot be replaced.😢🎉

Remember, he lost his voice in the 70's, after BOoH 1, collapsed and was found to have Wollf-Parkinsons-White in London while in mid tour in 03, and ended up having cysts on his vocal cords later in like 07. And he was planning yet more songs and another album when he died last year.
