I am going to have to redo this and test my hypothesis that these look different on me! I have all the lipsticks so I should be able to test…but would need to develop the control test first. Btw…have been testing the liquid lipsticks and I love them. I normally hate liquid lipsticks but this is definitely fantastic. Huda just came up with one recently and I tried it…and it is fine but these are so much better. I am hoping to use them as a base for the glosses. After hearing your theory on the combination making them wear faster….it fits what I had noticed already. I started just using liner with the glosses. Now I will have to try it and report!
Enjoyed your lip swatches 🖤😊. I bought one Velveteen in Jazz. Although beautiful, the formula made me appreciate the formula of the true Velvet much more. On my lips, it feels dry like some other liquid lipsticks I have tried. It's not my preference.
I can never get enough Lisa Eldridge content 🥰 even though I own all of her products and know all the colors really well, but it’s still nice to hear other people’s thoughts on them and how they wear on different skin tones. I don’t think you need Le Mepris, I am shade 13 of Lisa’s foundation and Kitten Mischief is as light as I will go on a lipstick. I wear it with Sorcery liner and it is such a stunning combination (btw Sorcery liner is not exactly like Velvet Sorcery, it’s warmer). I do own Velvet Fawn but nearly never wear it.
I know what you mean, I also watch reviews of products really well just because I love looking at it haha. Yessss Sorcery lip liner is a very different shade to the velvet. I actually think Decade liner fits the velvet better.
Hi Mariam, thanks for swatching these colors. I do own 6 of her lipsticks, but see so many more I want now. I can not order them now as I live in Tucson, Arizona and it is 112 F degrees and I am afraid they will melt on delivery. Here is a good hint to stop lipstick bleeding, put a little concealer around the edges of your lips and powder lightly then use your pencil. This also help me overdraw my lips a slight bit for fullness with no bleeding.
You need to wear less gloss on top of the lipstick, so it doesn't accumulate product on your lips. The velvet finish had more body and pigment, so less is more.
I saw a video where a makeup artist (don’t remember her name) mentioned that Lisa Eldridge makeup was used on Margot Robbie for the Barbie movie. I instantly thought of you!
Ahhh I need Muse. We have the same skin and similar lip shape, and it looks just stunning on you. And for some reason, I crave Wonder Wheel, but I rarely wear pink. Do you think, it would look flattering on you/me? I love the look of Atomic Cherry, but if I remember correctly, you said it doesn't wear in the best way. I can't for the life of me decide between the two 😂
Well now I want Wonder Wheel too haha! I think the difference is more pink vs more orange. Atomic Cherry is orange leaning. Honestly the last few times I wore it, it was great. If you have super dry flaky lips, then it is less forgiving than other colors but otherwise it wear like any other lucent.
Guerlain would be correct but it is Exotic Orchid. The light brown all over the lid and literally 3 flakes of Rose Fire Nectar from Vixen quad. That's it.
I have bought and used up several LE lipsticks: Affair, Muse, Kitten Mischief, Spirited Away, Painterly. I have decluttered and gave to others Fawn (to light for me) and Meet Me in Berlin (not good shade on me). Now I own and use Palazzo and Love of My life in my preferred formula, Ribbon in gloss formula and Blush in velveteen. I must say that I prefer velveteen more that velvet lipstick. I am so glad that I dared to try a new formula considering my dry lips.
You used so many of them! That's amazing! I can see myself using up a lucent, they do go fast. Out of all my velvets, probably just Ribbon. I am still not too convinced about the velveteens.
I have le mépris and was really surprised how well it suits me. The perfect undertone for a no makeup makeup day with just a hint of sheen that makes my lips look fuller. I have no,idea how Lisa does it. Note that I have light medium warm leaning skin tone (BD20 in Chanel, although I can wear neutral shades too). If you’re looking for a nude with some impact then it is not it.
I agree with you Mariam about her lipsticks, I love how flattering the colors are ❤ they sort of glow on the skin. I love them. I can’t get enough of them .
Commenting as I watch: I feel rejuvenated at the prospect of holidays (big or small) but also overwhelmed with the planning and preparations. But it gives me power to go through the last few days at the office. 😂 As for the velvet+gloss, i have muse velvet and gloss and never even thought of topping the velvet with the gloss! :p At most i just help my lip shape/symmetry with a random nude-ish pencil and apply the gloss. And if i want something quicker, i use painterly! Interesting though... 🤔 Btw, painterly on me looks more neutral, a bit more rosewood than rose. I'll never not be fascinated on how different lip colours look on different people!
I feel like my body an brain start to shut off bit by bit so by the time holidays come I am as good as useless haha. At least by that point all I have to do is lay on the beach. I love wearing Pat's shimmery glosses with lipsticks but the velvets don't do so well. Nudes and neutrals definitely tend to look the most different between people, specifically with more sheer formulas.
Your eye look here is so pretty! I have had that happen with lip gloss not working well with the Velvets. What I do when I want a shinier effect with the velvets, I wear a moisturizing cream lipstick under it and put the Velvet on top. It obscures the color beneath it, but makes it look and feel more creamy. It’s not as shiny as lip gloss, but it’s not flat matte. I think it still lasts a long time. I really want Velvet Sorcery and Blush! I love the story and imagery you used to differentiate Velvet Duchess and Velvet Ribbon! 😂😂 Velvet Blush is so gorgeous on you! They all are!
I guess the we have found the only negative thing about the velvets then, other than that they are impeccable. Sorcery and Blush are SUCH good lipsticks! Sorry to enable but they are!
