@@DownloadableContent Yeah it's wild. He's worked at one for probably ten years now. He has endless stories. Including one where thieves cut a hole in the ceiling, climbed onto shelving, and stole a bunch of stuff. Listening to all the Best Buy stories makes my time at Lowe's look like a walk on the beach.
Yep. I used to work for a BestBuy near Dayton Ohio.. We've had Burglars do the same thing at my Store.. they Rappeled down from the main sales floor ceilings/rafters, or they'd come down through the Drop-Ceiling in the bathrooms. @andriuskrom7603
This makes me feel much better about my job. As much of a calm person as I am, I'm certain I would snap on people if I worked at Best Buy, or any retail position for that matter. People's stupidity is one of the few things that will enrage me way too fast.
@@DownloadableContent It's pretty wild they either turn into selfish children, or are just like that. Respect to all the ppl out there dealing with idiots rn
Working retail in a tourist town is pretty shitty work too. You get people coming in drunk and thrashing the store. Why? because it doesn't matter if they get 86ed they're leaving town tomorrow anyways
😂😂😂 lost it at "hey ya smooth skin!" Bruh, I am so happy I don't work BBY retail anymore. I hated BEAST. It NEVER worked right. That "25-minute activation" turned into an hour real quick. 😭
Working in retail really diminishes your faith and hope in humanity. I worked at a sports equipment store, and 80% of what we actually sold was shoes. Several people got upset when we didn't have a specific shoe in a certain size, and acted as if we could just magically make a pair materialize out of thin air for them
Now....I never worked retail. I served my sentence for customer service in the restaurant industry, having every job under the sun, up through and including being a GM years ago. In general, people (so customer's by proxy) suck so badly. That's why whenever I'm interacting with anyone in a CS capacity, I do not expect them to be giddy or a delight in any way. If they are, great, but if they aren't, I'm completely okay (and understanding). As long as they aren't outwardly offensive or rude, I try to make the transaction as painless for both parties and we each go about our day. To that end, this is great story-telling and having the verbal and non-verbal queues shown just make me laugh more and more.
Love these videos!! Worked 8 years in Grocery Retail and 2 years at Home Depot and this is too accurate. Gave me some Nam style PTSD flashbacks but was very entertaining to watch and listen to. Wanted so badly to just give you a hug 😢 Glad you are able to use this as a way to vent and please continue if you have more to say! Love from a fellow ex-employee of retail hell ❤
I, too, worked at Home Depot in Hardware. The absolute trauma lol. If it wasn't the company itself it was the absolutely insane interactions I would have (though I had a quite a few really cool return customers)
Ah dude I just walked in the door from work, I'm sweaty...I'm sore.... Then this is the first joint on my recommendations and right from the jump we are walking into Black friday? Hahahha yeah man this is quality
We are a smaller store out in texas and about a month ago we had made enough revenue as a store to get new carpet... 2 days after the new carpet was installed an old lady literally shit herself at customer service and let it fall out on to the brand new carpet. The stain is still there and probably will be for years.
I have worked retail... except in Home Depot. Your Best Buy stories hit me in the feels, I swear I had virtually the same customer experiences except in Hardware. Absolutely legendary videos man. Black Friday was horrid. Outside of that I had so many people apparently think I was Jesus and was like "ummm can you make my metric screw standard?" I always died inside with that. I had a guy relentlessly argue that we had stuff in store from two years ago that literally didn't exist anymore and he was like "well I bought it here two years ago!" Ffs. Cheers man, I hope to see more Best Buy vids lol
I also cannot understand the absolute insanity of people and power tools on black friday, I was also forklift certed so that was fun. I don't want that one I want the tool chest on the opposite side of the store, in garden at the very fucking top *internalized rage* Oh, of course, let me get that for you.
I Remember one of my first shifts in a retail store for my first job was on black friday and it was a nightmare because i knew almost nothing about the systems and anything and it felt like it went on for 18 hours
I work at a Saturn. It's a big german electronic retail company. When I saw the 1st BestBuy video I was like ''dayum there are a few similarities''. Luckily Black Friday isn't that bad in Germany. I also love when the programs (don't) work like they should. You could always tell a few days ahead, that there are going to be problems. What we do is Onlineshopping, so if we have wares available in our store we send it straight to the customer. And let me tell you one thing that I really hate are resellers. They buy a shiload of of the same article and Lego is the worst. We have a big lego section and then there are those resellers, that buy idk 10 cars, 6 battlepacks and many more. But then there are normal customers that buy 1 train and 2 traintracks. The shelfs will alwys be full and they bring stuff after stuff, while can't really do anything else, cuz you can only make them ready for shipping. We are 4 people and sometimes we get help from other colleagues. And there are the orders, that customers bought and want to get it from the goods issue, so you have to get the articles and when you get back there are probably like 5 customers waiting for you to give the their wares.
Hey get this mr.drifter. I work at a new concept best buy and I get to deal with bullshit from absolutely everything because at this store, you work in every department, as well as geek squad and warehouse. This video is almost like therapy =.=
@@DownloadableContent I didn't at first. After about a year I have a large amount of knowledge in everything but autotech, we don't have a autotech department because this is a test marketplace for best buy and the only autotech garage is in a outlet store that also serves as a geek squad service center. We don't have a simeon, we have a group of them that their device gets sent to haha
Best Buy employee here. I was able to escape the retail stores and move into supply chain. You don't know how much better it gets once you don't have to deal with customers.
Worked two Black Fridays at the AP desk. It took years before I could listen to Beastie Boys again after the Destiny 2 display that was there almost the entire time. IIIIIIIII CAN'T STAND IT
I worked at the Best Buy call center that was located inside a store (we never told customers that) and any time there was a rude customer we would hang up or just transfer them to best buy online and have the foreign people deal with them. Then they would have to call back and wait in a queue of maybe 20 people or so. We use to just make up names so that when people came to the store to talk shit nobody would know who they were talking to. Sometimes I ended up helping people that came into the store that complained about me and I would be like "yea that guy sucks how can i help"
These are legit criminally underrated man. Please keep making more cuz guess what.... i have to go back to best buy for a job now hahahahahaha. Please help me
One time when I was young, I went with my mom to pick up a computer tower for our home. While the rep was busy helping us, they left to go get some thing, so we’re sitting there at the desk to finalize the payment We witnessed a employee blue shirt, open a video game, put the disc in his back pocket and then threw out the case for the game in the trash It happened right in front of us, my mom told the manager and he was very thankful and the guy ended up getting fired and I got to pick out a movie or game for myself. I was probably 10.
Bro for real. That same year they did an insane thing where we opened at 6am December 23 and we DID NOT CLOSE until 6pm Christmas Eve. A CLOTHING STORE.
I couldn't do work involving serving the public, I labour and work on roofs, it's hard but I don't have to serve anyone, just me n me boss on a roof, yeah can be dangerous but no angry customers just heavy roof tiles lol
While I haven’t worked at Best Buy I have worked at a movie theater for a year and I was threatened by a customer to fight me in the parking lot after giving him his popcorn. This was during the first night of opening weekend for Wakanda Forever.
You and timeseeker say lots of random names now and then, and my names patrick and my brother is henry.. you and him keep saying patrick and one time timeseeker said patrick then henry in succession in his perma-hunt series. i love it and i love yalls content ig im just a little parasocial lmao
It wasn't best buy but same kind a store. One day literally i help one customer like 2-3h cuz he can't do anything . he is like how to I do this and that and he ask me what is best and what should know about it. But i feel you good vid
Drifter I just got back from a Chinese restaurant with a paper. The paper had Chinese zodiac signs. So I decided to find the 2024 one (the dragon) because I knew your son was born this year. The following is what it said under the dragon sign. The following is for your son to know. “You are eccentric and your life complex. You have a very passionate nature and abundant health” Tell me if any of this is true. I want to know if Chinese restaurants can really predict the future.
Some of that is not dissimilar from working a grocery store. Ya work the holidays, get morons asking for unfrozen turkeys at 2 on thanksgiving... and the people who expect you to drop EVERYTHING and help them with something that could be somved by opening their eyes and generating just 1 spark between the last 2 braincells they have. Closing was a nightmare nearly every day though. Ya usually get the walking bags of rancid flesh that come it at 9:55 to do a months worth of shopping when we close at 10. Or the instacarters and whatever other shopping service is out there... they made the average dumb person actually tollerable. "Excuse me, could you show me where the canned peas are?" Idk, maybe down the aisle that has the CANNED VEGETABLE sign? Or the classic... "do you have any more hot rotisserie chickens?" Ummm, no. Its 5 min till close and idk what store you have been to, but iv NEVER seen a deli open as late as the rest of the store.
DLC I know you might not respond but I need your help. My birthday is coming up and I’m thinking about getting into pcvr. The thing is I already have the Quest 3. So does the quest 3 hold up with other vr headsets while connected to a pc?
I'm best buy. I was sales floor but now I'm Geek Squad. I've inly worked since after Corona but the worst customers I've always had...are always the Indian Hagglers...right after them are the ones who talk about how much money they spend at bestbuy as if that means shit to me. I got some stories but I'll share some if this gets some requests
@@DownloadableContent I worked at Staples as a tech sales rep. I would sell like 12 hundred dollars worth of attachment and the manager would be like "but did you get them to sign up for a credit card? Did you get them to sign up for reward? You could have just got them to get a printer or a chair and that has its own attachments. Why didn't you do that? You are terrible at your job"
