I'm wondering if it would work better with a suncream/moisturiser to prime? Something oily skin friendly like aveeno oat gel cream or beauty of joseon spf and maybe that'd help with the tight feeling?

You’re lucky to have Robert while you’re starting out! I wish I had someone like him that gave us the straight truth about the difference between real life makeup and on camera makeup. I started spending way too much when makeup content spiked a few years ago. All of the foun9and promer that was so hyped looked sh!t on me. I've stated investing in good skin care and stopped wearing foundation all together. In the past year I've put it on maybe 3 or 4 times.
@@Lizzypoohxo I also stopped wearing foundation. I started when the pandemic started, and I was at home all the time. Now, when I try to wear it, I hate the way it looks. I do need a little concealer under my eyes, and to cover spots.... but other than that, I'm done with foundation!

I didn't know this foundation was hyped up! I went into Sephora, got matched, and purchased it. When I used it for the first time, I could not believe how well it matched my skin tone. I could not visibly notice I had foundation on and the finish was very natural. Not dewy, not velvety, not matte. Just a pretty natural finish. I wore it for about 12 hours while going out on the town in rainy weather and it looked amazing still. Since then I have worn it almost every day in classic PNW weather. No tackiness or stickiness, when i run my hand over it, it just feels like my skin honestly. There was no tightness or oxidation after 12 hours of wear. I looked up to see if Robert had done a reaction because I thought SURELY he would love it lol! I have combination skin, I am half black/half white if that matters. On the fairer side with a more yellow undertone. I do use the Ordinary skincare products (Niacinamide, retinol serum), a vitamin c serum, belif moisturizer, innisfree spf, and elf primer but I don't really need the primer with this foundation. Just wanted to give some details in case anyone with a similar skin type is looking since I can honestly say this is the best foundation ive ever owned! 🙂

I honestly didn’t search to see if you have done a series with top foundations for specific skin types and occasions, but I would appreciate a top 3 foundations for dry skin (like mine), oily and combo, top 3 as in, light, medium and full coverage, and also affordable and luxury for each? It sounds like a lot of work and time for a video like this, but it can be a series and it might be quite easy for you since you have clients with all kind of skin and occasions that would require different levels of coverage

So interesting how products react on different skin! I don't wear foundation often but I like this brand, so I decided to buy this one. I only do one layer and it looks great! Have applied with my hands, a brush, and a sponge and it still blends together well (but sponge seems to work best). It does set faster, but just blend one section at a time. I was blown away at how there was next to no creasing!! It doesn't really transfer and it holds up so well against sweat here in the desert. The texture reminds me of the ColourPop tinted moisturizer. Throughout the day it didn't budge or break up, and I went HOURS without so much as powdering my t-zone! It sets without looking super dry or dewy. Maybe a thin moisturizer first, and then a light layer of foundation might help it melt into your skin better. I know this claims to be undetectable on camera, and I imagine it is used to create a natural finish like on actors in television programs. So in that aspect, I don't know how well other products for more glam makeup will layer over it. But it is working great in minimal daily looks for me. My skin is normal and I was concerned about the alcohol too! I don't wear it every single day, but I think it's actually helping out my trouble areas? I noticed after removing it if I had any little bumps or breakouts in the morning, that they're reduced and shrunk down in size at the end of the day. Almost as if I applied tea tree oil. So far I've continued with my skin care and my skin has been much the same. Just my experience anyway! I don't have TikTok but I'm glad to keep up with that stuff through your channel haha. Glad to share things with y'all on here! 💌
Same. It does not work for some people and it work for others, that's just how every fondation works. I actually like the stickiness and slight tackiness, i feel like it's gripping my skin and isn't going anywhere.
I had this foundation in my cart to purchase, until I realized that alcohol is the third ingredient. My mature skin doesn't make any oil anymore, so I would look like a prune by the end of the day. And, if I were to wear this several days in a row, I know my skin barrier would be damaged. I think it would be great for oily skin!!🖤🖤🖤

As someone who has physically sensory issues I REALLY appreciate this video. It wasn't bad mouthing the product but was giving us a realistic expectation. I use it everyday. Its lightweight, looks good, wears well. Doesnt dehydrate me at all. I have very oily skin and dont dry out my skin with actives in the first place, and its pretty humid where i live.
I just got this foundation, and it’s great. I’m not a TikTok person, I’ve never seen a review there. I saw one from Julia Adam’s, but that’s it. It wasn’t this bad. It wasn’t tight, was very light weight, and didn’t oxidize much on me. It blurred and filtered my skin. I’m a huge fan! So, always remember that different people react differently! Give it a swatch at your nearest Sephora!!
This is the third version of this foundation. The “original” original from at least a decade ago was soooo good. Then this last version had no staying power and now I’m trusting your opinion that this one is not special. I am a foundation junkie and am always on the search for the best. I love this foundation! I have combination skin and this foundation sits beautifully and I can’t really feel it on my face at all. I do use a serum, moisturizer, and SPF primer before applying though. I also use a sponge so it probably absorbs more product than a brush so maybe that’s why I can’t really feel it sitting on my face.
You're the only one I truly trust when it comes to make up. Every time a product gets hyped I think "let's see what Robert's opinion on this product is".
I ended up getting this foundation because I live in the US South and the summers here are extremely hot and humid and sweatiness is a daily event. So I tried it for the waterproof/sweat proof claims and I actually love it! I have dry and sensitive skin, but I use my full skincare and moisturizing sunscreen and a hydrating primer underneath, and it is fine. Also I use it as a light to very light medium coverage so the drying feeling as it sets isn't too strong. I also use a hydrating setting spray anytime I do foundation bc that's magic for dry skin, and that helps this one out immensely. Right after application I can feel the setting feeling and it looks a tad bit dry, but after a while my skin adjusts and I can't feel it on my skin anymore. It really does look great on my skin, it looks so natural I can't really tell I'm wearing foundation. I love that and the sweat proof abilities! It looks better and better as the day goes on with my dry skin. I probably won't use it every day because of the alcohol, but I also take great care of my moisture barrier and have a very hydrating and moisturizing skincare routine, and so far I haven't had any bad effects on my skin at all. It's been all good over here!
I have oily acne prone skin and this foundation is nice on me! Not like life changing but definitely wearable, I don't like the texture it gives but it has good coverage, the shade actually matches my skin and doesn't break me out
I’m dry and I’m obsessed with this foundation. The way it blurs my pores is something I’ve never experienced. I use it with my milk hydro grip primer and man it goes on amazing. I wear a mask all day at work at Sephora and I have minimal transfer in my mask. I hope you give it a second chance!!
I have dry skin too and was really considering buying this before i started seeing reviews (ive only seen negative ones but im not on tik tok) anywayyy, can I ask how you apply the foundation, like with a brush or sponge and do you use setting spray and powder? Im thinking of just taking the plunge anyway because my pores are starting to depress me lol x
@@fattychoccie i would just recommend that you make sure your skin prep is very hydrating and be sure to use a hydrating primer under as well. I use the milk hydro grip and Laura Mercier hydrating primer on top where i know I’m the driest. I use a brush to apply the foundation and once it’s applies i go in with a beauty sponge to kind of further push the product in my skin. I use both a setting powder and setting spray. My new trick is using a powder puff for my powder .. i don’t use a lot because I’m dry but the make up forever setting powders are god send lol my setting spray is a mixture of all nighter (regular) and the milk hydro grip setting spray. I work with a mask on and it’s been the combo that works best with minimal transfer on my mask. I hope this helps 🤗

I love it too! I got it after Taylor Wynn recommended it and she never misses. I use a Laura Mercier primer and it looks perfect - no tackiness at all.
Wow I’m amazed that you found it heavy! I legit use the smallest amount of this one compared to any other foundation I have, and it covers SO well (I have acne scars, discoloration and redness). It definitely sets down tho, but I can also layer if I need to. Weird how it works differently on oily ppl lol!
This is my all time favorite foundation! It lasts all day on my skin (oily type) even through sweating with a mask on! I don’t even have to reapply any powder during the day. I’m in Texas too and the weather is terrible 🤣 first foundation I’ve ever tried that doesn’t look cakey or like I’m wearing foundation. I apply 2 layers and sets perfectly. Not sticky for me at all and feels like I’m not wearing any foundation nor does it feel tight. It doesn’t break down on my skin or around my nose or chin. I also use a sponge and not a brush to apply. I’m so in love with this foundation but what works for me might not work for others! This is my holy grail!
I think the sweatproof/waterproof aspect would be really helpful for those who wear masks the whole day (if they still want to wear makeup despite it being covered lol)

i have oily and hydrated skin, i used this foundation over the nyx marshmallow primer thingy and yes, i did powder A TINY BIT.i have to say that it was great, it did not cover sommy discoloration but i dun mind it, as i am not a full coverage type of person anyway. for me anyway this worked great and i did not really feel uncomfy,. :) not all products work on all skins anyway so i dun see why someone would be offended if it did not work for you! i enjoyed yet another video from you ♥
This is my favourite foundation . It never changes colours, doesn’t dry up or gets flaky and gives a very natural finish. It doesn’t feel like you have something on
I was so sold on buying this especially because of Meredith Doxbury and some other reviews but I love your honesty about products. I had to search to see if you had one and yup I found it! I don’t mind the feeling of things as long as it looks great but this might be perfect for like pool parties, or like a dinner out, or even bartending because I sweat so much on certain busy nights. I really like this foundation, but I am over 50. It sets and stays put. It has a nicer finish than Charlotte Tilbury's airbrush one, but not as dewy as NARS or Estes Lauder. BUT ..the shades all look exactly alike, so far, and I have ordered 3 colors. I needed to go darker for spray tan, and so far can't get it dark enough. I searched it on my arm and it does NOT come off easily. It sets fast, and I used a beauty blender and prepped with serum and moisturizer. It is a bit sticky "tacky", so for me, the ultra HD powder helps. I DO like the look of the finish, due to oily t-zone and broken capillaries, so I can put up with it for an outdoor wedding reception. One more thing, using a foundation brush made it feel way more mask-y and I had to wash it off. When I apply with a beauty blender and push it into the skin, it feels way better.
Dang. This is the first review I’ve heard that has been anything but praises for this foundation. I was definitely going to try it out but was waiting for Amanda Z to do a review because I think we have similar makeup interests when it comes to four ration specifically. I love this foundation. I’m a one layer and done kind of girl so I can’t speak to the tackiness. I’ve never had that happen using one layer. I prefer using a sponge over a brush. It does set quickly but as someone with dry skin, I LOVE that I don’t have to use powder. My skin is weird so I have a feeling I’m in the minority on how much I like this one but I’m used to that. I usually hate the most loved complexion products.

The best thing about Robert is he is so straight forward. Like this is what a foundation does it’s not revolutionary to cover up thing on the face. It’s a damn foundation haha. I love the Ultra HD and my skin loved too (mature combo skin - beautiful finish and minimum creasing) but I hate this new one. It sat on my face, exposing all the texture, pores, dry patches. I tried it several times with different preps and it was horrible each time. I never return anything but I had to, pretty expensive fail otherwise :) Thank you for your honest reviews, all the time!
I’ve been testing out this foundation for a few days, giving my usual foundation (Dior Backstage Airflash) a little break. So far I like it. My skin is dry, so my results may be different than Robert’s.

I'm glad I watched this. I absolutely hate sticky feeling foundation lol. I tried the peach foundation that's supposedly completely full coverage and transfer proof but it had that sticky feeling so I couldn't wear it. I don't like powdering much either but with a sticky foundation I almost feel like I have to so it takes away that stickiness.

There is definitely a huge change in consistency. Even though a thin layer isn’t full coverage, it sure feels like it on the skin. Like you can literally feel it. However it does blend really beautifully.
I personally love this foundation. I have the same type of skin oily to normal and dehydrated however I have only worn this foundation with my elf putty primer and a finishing powder on top so I haven’t had the issue of that tight feeling or a tacky feeling. Also only do one layer of this foundation. Only breaks up where my nose pieces from my glasses sit on my nose and that is every foundation. Before this foundation I was using the Fenty ease drop skin tint which I still enjoyed but this has more coverage and last way longer on me.
I bought two of these for color match reasons and I have PARCHED dry skin. I am 51 and live in Los Angeles. I use it as an eye primer, a foundation, and build it up as a concealer. It is a 3-in-1 for me. I love it so much that I actually de cluttered all of my other foundations. I have to use a very good moisturizing primer underneath, of course, but it is, hands down, the best foundation I have ever purchased for my skin, second only to the Chanel. I use it as light to medium coverage, not full. 1R12 and 2R24.

I had no idea what my true skin type/texture is or undertones are until watching your channel. You’re the only review I trust for a product I’m interested. I also finally used an eyeshadow base for the first time in 15 years yesterday (I was always a concealer & powder on the kids person lol) and holy shit I’m so glad I finally took your advice and tried it out. My eye shadow has never popped so much and lasted so long! My only issue was that I shave my eyebrows into two cute tiny little pixie triangles that are only about 1.5cm long, so I didn’t know how/where exactly to blend the primer into my forehead foundation, as most people would probably use their eyebrows as a barrier and I can’t do that. Do you think this foundation might be more geared towards bridal makeup?? I got a sample and I really loved it. I did find it a little to glowing for me however. Patrick Starr, used modestly, is my new favorite and I think I’m buying the full size.
I just bought this and I definitely agree about the self setting and you can feel it once it dries. It looks good but it dries so quickly and you need to work quickly. Perhaps a dam beauty blender would help with the dryness. It ends up looking good but it does feel tight and you have to figure out how to work it quickly on your skin. Once natural oils come through it does look nice.

I am such a texture person, so as soon as he said there was a tacky feel, it was a huge nope from me. I do wonder if powdering the face would get rid of the tacky feel, but the tightness wouldn't be fixed in any way
Most foundations will have at least some slight stickiness to be able to accommodate powdering, unless you buy super matte ones that have powder mixed into them. This one isnt particularly sticky. I honestly dont know what hes talking about, it could be how it interacts with his skincare and the weather there.
I have heard about the make up forever foundation for sweat resistancy. I'm a dancer and my gig go to is the juvias place however I get so sweaty on my forehead that everything will stay except for my forehead haha, which mid gig is horrendous so I am keen to try this for dance. Hi Robert, I have combination skin (T zone oily and normal cheeks) I asked for a sample of this foundation at Sephora and it worked really good on me. I'm considering purchasing it when I finish the one I have right now. I agree with you that tiktokers and influencers over hype and exagerate new products performance. If someone wants to make a wise purchase should compare different opinions that is great, but also test it on yourself. Ask for a sample guys! The only foundation which I bought because of hype was Loreal infallible foundation (fresh wear- the one with pump). 1.It has my color (I'm super pale) 2. I can buy it cheap 3. It's buildable 4. It looks good and natural on skin And I've been using it for 2 years now and I'm really happy with it. Maybe one day when I have more money I will try other stuff. Not everyone has enough to buy random products cause of hype every 3 months. So I'm thankful you don't promote it even though it would make you some crazy money. I love your integrity.
I normally agree with you, but I had a completely different experience with this new HD. And it's probably because of our skin type and application. I have dry skin, don't use primer, just put over my regular skincare routine, and I loved this! It made my skin look super smooth, covered my redness, and felt like I had nothing on. I didn't experience any of the stickiness or tightness you mentioned. I recommend giving it another whirl using way less product and a sponge. I applied mine with a dry sponge, stippled over the areas I need the most coverage and blended the edges out to cover the rest of my face. This foundation is one of those where a little bit goes a long way. But your review is definitely making me think I have to test this on someone with oily skin so I can compare further.
True this foundation works better with a sponge. I tried using a brush and applied it similar to Rob & I experienced the same exact thing tightness wise. No tightness with a sponge.

I have very oily skin, I also have a lot of texture and scaring. I used this foundation today and it Made my skin look quite smooth, it photographed beautifully, it didn't feel heavy, tight or uncomfortable on my skin like most foundations do, it actually felt very light on the skin, I did get a little oily but I didn't set my skin well, I only used a very light dusting of powder so I'm going to try setting my skin properly. I think this might be one of my new favourite foundations, I definitely want to play around with it more.
1) i am in love with that blue eye look. It's gorgeous 2) I don't really have any interest in this foundation. I wore the original version of it for my wedding day, and I really love it. So I wish they kept it as is and just made a separate foundation instead lol. Thanks for doing the wear test. ❤🥰

Of all the newer foundations I've tried, this is actually one that worked well for me. Was it worth the hype or life-changing? No. But it's still a good foundation. Early 40s, combo/dry skin. I didn't notice any tackiness either. These things work differently for everyone.
I love the "That's foundation! *shrug*" Edit to add: On camera it looks good on you but seeing how sticky it was, it makes me think of how I have cats in my face a lot and fully expect the cat hair will stick to it lol
I never get any of my make up tips or by anything from tik tok. I stay off that! I have a few trusted people like yourself that I watch for trusted opinions. However foundation is such a personal thing. They have an amazing shade range so I'm willing to try it. Thank you for the honest opinions as always
I tried this again today, because this is my go to, and its actually very nice. It even looks good on top of combination sunscreen (my mineral and combo sunscreens make foundation look awful). Feels lightweight, looks smooth, its slightly blurring, doesnt make me more oily than normal, stands up very well to humidity (and the overall hot, tropical weather here). On top of chemical sunscreen that isnt water resistant I have to do a wipe test at the end of the day to see if I still have makeup on (its that undetectable on top of moisturzier and chemical non waterproof sunscreen). It could be you just need to moisturize better, or use less actives so that your skin is less sensitive. It looks nice and my skin is covered in acne scarring. I apply it with a flat brush everywhere and then stipple blend it with the Royal & Langnickel Omnia BOM 175 or a damp sponge. The first time I used it I buffed it in and I must have liked it that way too becasue I bought the full size bottle afterwards! This foundation is AT LEAST just as good as the Nars Radiant Tinted moisturizer and you like that one. Maybe try moisturzing better and applying a thin layer of powder on top after.
I very much appreciate this review. I have crazy dry skin ( I’ve kept it under control with cerave diabetics dry skin relief as a night cream). I got a sample of this, it looked gorgeous but I noticed throughout the night that the sides of my nostrils were crazy itchy. I woke up the next day to the life sucked out of my skin. So many intense dry spots that were so itchy and lasted a week. I’ve been looking at reviews and I can’t find anyone with a similar reaction.
