In this video I am using the fabric I bought in the Heather Ross Studio Sale recently. The colours and patterns are really colourful and playful! This is one of the easiest blocks to construct and makes a very striking quilt.
I will be finishing this one over on Patreon and you can find out more about that here.

Over on the website you can sign up to the newsletter and find out which charity I am supporting with Ad Revenue from this channel.

Music today is from Epidemic Sound and is called Eqqus, Unbounded Horizons and Andrea's Song. Anna chooses the best music don't you think!

Oh Kate it’s not that we are not interested in patreon it is just that most of us are on a tight budget. ❤

My thoughts also and when she starts something and just teases me that it will be finished on patreon I feel like a kid in school left out because I could not do a special school trip like the richer kids. I wish she would finish the project.

@@traceyshoun1005 When I started watching Kate's vlog when it started it was just a chat as Kate did whatever she was doing at the time, no planning, no special equipment, simple and fun. I know the channel has really grown but it's now seeming to be a business. No worries, things change that's life and it's a huge success for Kate in which I'm happy for her, I just content myself with rewatching the old vlogs, I enjoy what I watch and have just been watching when Sadie had her kittens. After 2 earthquakes and covid over the last 10 years I'm quite happy watching vlogs that make me smile.

@@traceyshoun1005I feel the same. I can’t justify a Patreon payment. My electricity bill looms and we’ve been notified of a threefold increase. My budget (😂) will be devastated. It’s already restricted because I’m on a pension and I consider myself lucky. There is no other income 😢 By all means use Patreon but stop dangling projects in front of us that we won’t see the ending of because we’re broke. Unwitting discrimination perhaps? Maybe a warning at the beginning that it’s a Patreon project then it’s a choice before watching not a disappointment at the end. Perception of choice works for me. I have to say that sponsorship ads really annoy me too. Why are creators having to do the job for the advertisers? I know the answer but it doesn’t annoy me any less. More work for creators to do. Kate, if you had the right sponsorship would you say yes? Rant over. I need a cuppa after all that. 🫖 pass it round.

I am also on a tight budget but I don’t buy newspapers or magazine so patreon is my monthly pleasure and treat and for me it is a really worthwhile spend. I’d rather have that to look forward to than spend my little bit spare money on chocolate or wine but each to their own.

I totally support what you are expressing here. Kate's channel has become a business. It is being run like a business. Patrons are supporting Kate's lifestyle. You are also supporting her paying her family to help her as she says in her video. If that is what you are comfortable doing then go for it. Unfortunately what Kate is doing is employing a tried and tested marketing technique. She teases viewers with a taste of something but saves the meaty bit for those who pay. Her head has been turned by the call of the mighty dollar. Her early videos were just lovely where she took you and her iPad around the garden, out to the lake with Eileen, checking on the bees all before sitting down for a bit of quilting or spinning. These were organic, real world videos that required no fancy equipment. All that was required was a simple editing app and her time which she was freely giving anyway. I have unsubscribed from so many channels fir exactly the same issues. It is very disappointing as the Lime green sofa is such a welcoming visual picture. I will miss it.

Like so many people I am on a fixed income. For me I became a patron to be able to thank Kate in a small way for all the joy her videos have given me. I am grateful for her taking the time to share her life with us. She and her family are a breath of fresh air in this crazy world. Peace and kindness to all.

Just a (long-winded) note from a woman in Mississippi, US, who's had more than one tearful conversation with her husband and close friends about how much Kate and this channel mean to her. I'm that woman, of course. I'm thankful I'm able to be a support to you by purchasing from your shop now and then and by subscribing on Patreon. I would do it for absolutely zero additional content by the way - you mean just that much to me (however I do enjoy everything you post there). I won't go into the tragedies and difficulties your videos have helped me through, but suffice it to say you've helped me keep my sanity. And I want to do all I can to help you continue in this ministry, because that is exactly what it is. You have been, and continue to be, a blessing to so many in so many ways. Thank you, Kate ❤️

I've been watching you from my seat on the Lime Green Sofa since 2019. Late that year, my Mom died. And working in my sewing studio, often with my 11 year old daughter by my side, watching your videos in your sweet, conversational style really was the soothing balm I needed. At first my daughter couldn't understand what I liked about it. Then, slowly she began to appreciate it too. Anyway, when the pandemic befell us a few months later, your "Take Care" videos were a precious lifeline. We have a rich full life here. But getting that daily dose of care and calm from your side of the Atlantic helped me cope with how many of our loved ones, and my in-laws, were facing this thing in the UK. When you initiated Patreon, I joined at the $5 level. I don't think I've ever accessed the content (Patreon has been hard to figure out and I'm a smart lady). But I've never really cared. What you do on RU-vid, though it's changed since those early days, has always been enough for me and the Patreon was a way of giving back. That won't change. But this video has inspired me to go and see if I can figure out how to watch some of the videos over there. The clips of you working with your daughter remind me of working with mine. So, as always, thank you for all that you do. What you put out into the world is sorely needed.

Have been watching (& relishing) this channel for a long while now.♥ You love doing ALL the things I love doing & your demeanor is so kooky, relaxed, encouraging, & deep. A genuine person, because none of this has changed since the very first video I watched. the only thing that has 'changed' is better technology ( a +), the addition of your daughter in law (a double ++) and some trip take alongs (a +). I would love to be a patron, but I don't work & I have rely on my husband for the $$$$$ for crafting supplies to do my OWN thing 😁. But if I was independently wealthy I would, because I love what you freely give, so much, that I just know I would love MORE of it. I never feel bad about this; I think you have been very understanding of this situation....you always say "take care of yourself first". How can anyone misconstrue that? I have learned alot from you, have been inspired by you & love seeing someone be really passionate about their craft. I sew along with you, so I save up & binge watch your videos from xmas to March (I run a small farm & homeschool & don't sew for the rest of the year). I have to put the volume up really, really loud to hear you over the machine & my kids often wonder at me. Just crack on (I think that is what they say in the UK)!!!!!

I made one of these! Thanks for the inspiration. I used a background of yellows (from almost tan to school bus yellow) and used scraps of huge florals and wild Hawaiian prints. This gave it a fractal bolt of colors of greens, reds, blues with black dots for interest. It was framed in a six inch solid deep purple. I was able to use up otherwise wild or difficult to use prints into something stunning. The backing is a pale yellow linen.

Oh, I think the video is lovely! The content is wonderful, the videography is great, the music and editing is absolute perfection! It has grown and I would not expect you to stay in the past. I am just a very informal person and liked the chit chat and miss it. It is just my personal preference. I am curious about the extra content on Patreon. I have a feeling it is more of that, since you describe it as behind the scenes. I just feel bad that I am not able to join that side of things. I have an 18 year old son with special needs and a 26 year old daughter who is in circumstances where she is not able to be fully independent. I have drawn a line for myself where I do not do ANY subscriptions because my family's needs come first. If I open the door to one subscription, where do I stop? I'm a bit strange like that. I do want to give you a HUGE THANK YOU! Your quote of "Out of your head and into your hands" has helped me immensely! It is so true! When I craft, etc, I am able to reduce stress. As a content creator in a (what seems to be) previous life, I applaud you sticking to your inherent beliefs, Kate. It’s very easy to get caught up in the novelty of sponsorships and review items. I did. Then one day I just couldn’t do it anymore and I felt ashamed that I had. The promotion of needless spending and consumerism is society’s downfall. Patreon may seem unfair to some viewers, but the Kate who started the channel can sleep at night, knowing her income came from her work, not from promoting the unsustainable. Or at least that’s my take and 2 cents. 💚 to all! Support the creators, not the sponsors 📢 😊

I’m watching from The mountains of Maine. I have fat quarter bundles of Christmas flannel. I’m going to cut 5” strips from the 18” side n make it that way. Wish me luck. Merry Christmas to all

I loved this quilt! I love all the content you share with us. Thank you! I've learned so much from you, since Arne and Carlos gave a shoutout to your channel (maybe the first shout out?). I so wish I could financially contribute. I have literally no income, though. I try to do what I learned from Roxanne Richardson when she did a youtube video explaining how RU-vid adds work: so, I watch the adds before your videos, like, and comment on them. Thank you!

Kate, I am grateful for what you bring to this channel. As I’m cutting fabric or sewing or most likely ripping seams😂, I’m listening to your stories, suggestions, about your cats and family. You inspire me, especially for a beginner in quilting and for that I’m very grateful. Thank you.

Thanks Kate. Love your new project. Will be cherished I’m sure. Thanks too for explaining Patreon. It’s quite expensive for me, sadly. Exchange rate between UK and Australia is almost as bad as USA and Australia. But I’m thankful for your you tube channel. 🇦🇺❤️

Thanks for explaining about Patreon. I didnt know what that was and I sure will pop over there. You are right about telling about the work in your channel and about avoiding comercial sponsors. So see you there

I spent my entire Saturday quilting, planning quilts, and listening to quilting videos…. Surprise! I dreamt about quilting. I had a chat with you at an event in my dream. The fabric discussed was beautiful and the advice most welcome. If I ever own similar fabric, I now know exactly what I will do with it. If only it wasn’t so expensive. haha

Bonkers! Yes, but children love bright cheerful, whimsical things. They think with their hearts. I love bold colors myself! I’m a pink and green girl myself. Actually lime green goes with everything! I love your channel. God bless!♥️

All the boohooers, yall do realize she has to make a living too right 🤦. Im not a patron but i do love watching the old and new videos without complaint. Maybe someday ill venture on to see what patreon is all about. Last time i checked it wasn't very good layout and the app itself just didn't draw my interest, maybe they will improve in the future. Until then im happy to enjoy Kate on the RU-vids as is 😊. Kate makes me feel like im sitting with the mother i never had, i like her demeanor and playfulness, filled with love she is a joy to "be around". 😊

Kate, after watching your previous video about the Linus charity, I decided my school holiday break I would make a couple of quilts for them. So I did, I just have to contact them so I can pass them on. What makes it better I've only every made one quilt before, so I've learnt so much making these.
