Here is my second small brush pen review. After the first small brush pen comparison, I got a few more small pens to try. This is a mini pen haul of my most recent purchase from Jet Pens and some from Amazon. I've linked to Amazon below. Small brush pens are a great way to start for hand lettering beginners! But there are so many different kinds, so I hope this video helps you decide which one you should try! #brushpenreview #handlettering

Hey sweetie. I have the little short petite 3 that u had a hard time holding and I found if u put the cap on the back of it as u write it makes it perfect. Hope that helps. Love your videos. 😊😊❤️

@@EnsignInsights oh yes! I was going to suggest the same thing! I didn’t know they had a petit brush, so I’m ordering it, but I use the petit fountain pen and keep the cap on the end!

When you had the Kuretake and you go, "this is literally the only thing I can read from the package" omg that is a MOOD 🤣 I buy all these pens both online and in stores, and when they are Japanese-based, I haven't the foggiest idea what the packaging says 😂 They could be writing insulting things to me and I'd have no clue, I can't understand it but I love my pens! Great video so far, I just had to comment that when you said that about the packaging lol!

Hi Sarah. Great video. I remember you saying that buying pens would become kinda like an addiction😅... you were correct. I'm still a struggling beginner at lettering but... I've become quite good at shopping for and buying new pens. I wish the writing part was as easy as the buying was.. but alas.. FYI The Fudegokochi Kuretake pens are currently unavailable. I did try the link to the Marvy LePenFlex using your link and the first thing I saw when I got to they'd website was " This page is unavailable". That's OK... that's a message to me from the Universe to stop buying and do more practicing!😊

Thanks for the video!! Super helpful! I feel like I like the real time talking, but it confused me a bit because I wasn't sure when it was voiceover and when it was real-time. Maybe you should say something or do something to indicate that there will be a switch between them? Thanks again for creating this awesome content!!!

Not all brush pens are designed for the same type of calligraphy, I think the Sakura one, without any actual hard plastic holding its nib, is designed for Chinese/Japanese/Korean type of calligraphy.

I don’t know if someone all ready said it, but the Sakura pigma. Brush is so hard to control because it literally has brush bristles. I was bummed when I bought the full color pack of them and with the mini pilot pen, it’s a lot easier to hold it when you put the cap on at the end! Haha just a heads up

I am entirely self-taught-I struggled to follow workbooks so practiced daily until I improved. Recently, I became frustrated when my lettering suffered drastically with the Sakura Pigma Brush. I found myself thinking I simply wasn’t yet “good” enough to handle it properly. So learning that you disliked it and found it so difficult made me feel much better! Your taste in pens isn’t simply educational but inspirational :)

I tried starting with the copics (I found the medium to be easier to use than the small, but they were both frustrating for me as a noob) since I already had them from art stuff, now I'm glad I decided to order the tombow the other night. Thank ya kindly for doing all this!

Thanks for this! I agree with you on the plain Sakura brush - it was disappointing and it comes in many of the combo packs. I would love to have assorted colors in earth tones so thanks for the heads up on the Marvy LePen line. As for the Pilot Petite 3, try capping it. If it fits snugly, it might increase the length to improve comfort.

I like the Kelly creates small brush pens but the dream pens aren’t my favorite! It’s probably not you! I’ll share about those soon. I haven’t tried those watercolor pens!

I really like the Kelly Creates small pens, as well as the small brush on dream pen, however notice the ink is different in dream pens. I’ve ordered the Pentel’s you recommended hoping I like them as much as Kelly small. Thank you so very much!

does somebody know a good brush pen i can draw with copic on and it doesnt lose pigemts while earasing pencil??? so hard! And I mean brush pens like the tombow, with a plastic wrap to make it more stable

you are supposed to put the cap at the bottom of the pilot petit so that it could act as an extension of its body.

Hi hun, do you think the pilot fude makasi fine is the same tip as the pilot futayaku fine tip? I love the futayaku but only want the fine tip. Also I noticed in this video and your last small brush pen video, that the Kelly creates barrel, lids and tips lool just like the zebra pens??

I would like to buy the pilot petit 3 mini fude brush pen. It does not seem to be available. Would you know where i can purchase it? Also your link for the pentel pen is going to the sign pen. I thought you had reviewed the pentel fude brush pen. Which pentel pen is the one you are suggesting for beginner?I am btw a lefty.

Hi there! The link I have for the Pentel touch brush pens is correct! They’re called different things but just look for the brush tip. My link is correct. For pilot petit 3, I don’t know! Maybe try Jetpens.com!

Thanks for the great video. You make it really clear what you are trying to achieve and do it brilliantly. One of the first brush pen sets I bought was the Sakura Pigma brushes. They nearly convinced me to give up but I did keep going and if you can letter with them, you can write beautifully with almost anything. But I do agree with you - use the Pentel Touch, or the Tombow Fudenosuke instead. Your life will be much easier, and just as beautiful. As a side topic, do you find that some pen tips break down faster? My initial set of Tombow Fudenosuke colours (bought a few months ago) are pretty much destroyed now, though the Touch pens are still fine. Likewise Tombow Dual Brush pens wear fast. Perhaps I'm too heavy handed?

First, love the vid. Second; I got some large brush pens a few months ago but it was a cheap knockoff of tombow, it frayed in about 3 weeks time so I started watching videos to see what type of lens I should use and how to letter, I’m getting better but not at all good. I narrowed it down to finding smaller nibs and practice from that. I’m about to buy the tombow fude. I’m good at downstrokes but my hand cannot take upstrokes, they start getting shaky and after the finishing piece, I can see almost NO difference in upstrokes. Would you say I should get soft or hard nibs to practice? Also, what practising methods do you recommend?

You may want to try both soft and hard! They are different and everyone has a different preference depending on what works with your style. As for practice, watch videos and learn as much as you can. You can also get some worksheets to practice with. 👍
