Another Team Broke Our Race Car in the Line Up Chute

This is not the video I wanted to make this weekend, but I need to share what happened at our last night at the World Series of Asphalt at New Smyrna Speedway. Our night was ruined by an impatient member of another team who broke our car in the line up because he felt getting his golf cart through was most important. We are not going to name any teams right now, but we are not just going to give this up. We worked for months to be here, and to have somebody else's bad decision ruin it like that is extremely disheartening. We will regroup and be back, hopefully better than ever.

Jack and Ed, A thousand details can produce problems. But to have an oaf in a golf cart lean in and crank until he breaks your steering system is too much! I hope you can recoup some of the losses, maybe from the oaf himself. I think what happened is the failure of him to see you, to understand your position and the self-centered pursuit of one’s own goal (driving a golf cart! Where it doesn’t fit!), others be damn*d. I know you will handle it professionally, and that is brave and admirable ❤❤❤

If that would have happened to us when we raced, the guy would have been beaten with the steering wheel. My cousin got hit after a race at Desoto and he parked his car right on top of the other guys camaro.

Do you have a quickner on it? I have one on my street and it does the same. If the power steering is noyy running. You can't turn the wheel..

We don’t. But this one is the same way. Steers so easily with motor on, but impossible with it off

He shouldn't touch your truck and should of went around another way. But the weld shouldn't have broke. Might have been good that it broke in the pits then broke on that track because you would be putting on a new front clip and or back clip.

I’d have to think the force of cranking on it with no power steering and not moving is more than the force it would get with the power steering system running, but I can see the point. We will get it fixed up good and be back to try again another day 😎

I’m not upset about the part breaking, just mad about the principle of it all. That shaft worked perfectly fine for the last year until it was forced in a situation it should have never been in

@@carlhiland870 with due respect, it did break under the weight and torque of the intrusive yanker. That was not measurable. So never say never. The weld is not the heart of the matter. It is about track supervision and dangerous individual behavior

@Joanne Hall it's better it broke there than on a racetrack at speed. If welded correctly it would have never broke. I also know about race cars I was a crew chief on a professional team for 7 yrs too. I spoke from experience in both fields.
