Revisiting 3 local Thankful Villages. Locating the centenary slate plaques. Leaving a knotted poppy at each location as an act of Remembrance. #ThankfulVillages #cycletour #somerset
Thanks for sharing. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your adventures. Must admit, it’s got me thinking about going and visiting the thankful villages myself.
Thanks for this video. Next year's route looks like a good ride visiting some beautiful areas as well as some industrial heritage. Quite an inspiring route, I think. I'm looking forward to the videos already!
Hey mate, we are cycling through Uk at the moment, and came across your channel…we love it…we have a few bike vids as well….just gone through Divices and seen two of the chalk horses
Very odd that the plaque isn't in the church, maybe they felt as they already had the brass one it wasn't needed. It was rather out of view though on that rock. Life is full of things that could have changed your path through life. My one was: I was born in London in 1943 and by luck Mum had taken me out in the pram on the day our house was flattened by a bomb. Being just a baby I knew nothing about until I was much older. Having watched films of this year's PBP I wonder if you are doing any Audax rides before winter arrives? Thanks for the video, not sure if you meant Knitted poppies? I couldn't see any knots.🤔
Gosh, that's so fortunate that you were both out of the house when it got bombed. Property can be rebuilt, belongings replaced but lives can't. Yes, more knitted woolen poppies courtesy of my darling wife. May try to build back up to 200km DIY Audax in autumn. Last couple of calendar events were not enjoyable though. Will be very choosy which organisers I enter with in future. Best wishes with your own cycling. Andy
Hi Andy, I've enjoyed your videos for a long time now. I was wondering if there are any Thankful Villages for only World War II? I've seen you visiting a lot of the first World War ones, and a few double thankful ones. Surely some exist, right?
Hi Ezri, That's a great question and the answer is I don't know. It had never occurred to me but now I'm intrigued. Will try to find out. All the best, Andy
