Another note about Ratigan: He was voiced by Vincent Price, who said voicing the world's greatest criminal mind was the role he enjoyed the most in his entire career.
I can't believe Dr Facilier is an honorable mention. He has evil spirits for friends. He was going to give the souls of all the people of New Orleans basically to the devil, he has a cool shadow, and Friends on the other side is one of the best Disney Villain songs of all time. Even his death was epic and memorable.
Not to the devil, to the Spirit World. If you knew more about voodoo, you'd know he would probably give the souls to Bondye (God for Voodoo) and/or to the Ioa (Spirits).
Prince John was my favourite villain when I was a kid. And Robin Hood was my favourite Disney movie. I think the voice work on it was great, and very memorable. TAXES! TAXES!
Seriously! Queen of Hearts never did anything but rant. If anyone actually read the book (which Disney disgraced) you find out that no body actually got their head cut off.
Madam Mim wasn't that important in her movie. I say put Doctor Facilier as #4, and send everything beneath it a spot lower. Then you'll have a complete list.
Fun Fact: In the original telling of Cinderella, Cinderella's father never died. However, she was still treated like crap. So I do not know who is worse in this case: the step sisters and step mother for tormenting Cinderella so much, or her father who let it happen.
Well in fairness the movie JUST came out and was just released on DVD today but I agree, Hans does some backstabbing that belongs in a George RR Martin novel.
Mannibg Loves Disney The thing I like about Hans is how he averts the love at first site bullcrap that Disney always uses. He is diabolical because he is basically the quintessential "Villain With Good Publicity" (tvtropes.org). p.s. he probably even would have been one Arendalle's greatest Kings because of his desire to be accepted.
Shan Yu is my favorite for a number of reasons. 1. He's confidant. In fact, that's the reason why he invaded China, in the first place: to prove the superiority of the Huns to the alleged forces of China. He's so confident he doesn't even try to be manipulative or treacherous, like most villains. He's also intimidatingly charismatic. "By building his wall he challenged my strength. Well, I'm here to play his game." he says with a smile on his face as he unsheathes his sword. 2. Most villains employ few or work on their own. And they are so physically weak. But he is strong and skilled in combat. And he leads an entire army, capable of living off the land as they roam and successfully overcoming any settlement they invade. 3. He has megalomania, a violent nature and a thirst for blood, which are what I look for in a villain. I prefer villains like, in order from least favorite to most favorite, the Horned King, Baron Ruber, Drago Bludvist, Sauron, Captain Nathaniel Flint and Shan Yu. They're strong. They command armies. Their megalomania motivates them to conquer whole kingdoms. And they take what they want.:-) I know the Horned King did not appear to be physically fit, but he did have an army. And I know Captain Flint was a pirate and not a conqueror, but he was violent and apparently bold. Who agrees with me?
Kevin Lane I agree with you. His goal is so simple, yet it easily rises above the rest. So many villains want to rule the land, to have as much wealth as possible, or to gain ultimate power, but not Shan Yu. He doesn't care about wealth or becoming emperor, and he's not seeking out a way to become even more powerful. His only desire is to prove how powerful he and his people are.
I don't know. I thought Hans in _Frozen_ was genuinely terrifying because the revelation that he was the bad guy not to trust wasn't revealed until 80 minutes into the movie.
Facilier is an honorable mention and the Queen of Hearts is at the first place? Nice april fools, i was going to...wait, this video is dated March 2..What the fuck. The Queen is not a terrible villain, but she's nothing special. Facilier is evil, clever, dark and he has friends on the other side. He needs a lot of love
Um, if you consider the people of wonderland to be actual citizens, she is worse than all the others. Although killing cards seems ridiculous, the action is not. She doesn't hesitate to kill anyone who pisses her off. Sure, the other villains were evil, but they probably didn't kill as many people as the queen did. Alice would have "died" if the king didn't intervene or if she wasn't dreaming. Seriously, killing your citizens just because of a small fault is evil.
you know,I'm glad that rapunzal found out about her origins and realized that mother gothel is not her mother and I'm also glad they didn't put her "mother know's best" song in this video.that song is so ANNOYING!
She's a maniacal, insane and ruthless dictator who kills anyone that pisses her off, for no reason at all, just because they pissed her off, sure the inhabitants of wonderland aren't human, but they are alive and she would mercilessly have them executed for the smallest of mistakes, hell she got aggravated with Alice when the girl said "i'm just looking for my way home" and just because she said my way, replying that she was the queen and all the ways were hers, i guess she would have caused more impact if she looked like more the way she's depicted in Madness Returns
***** *gulp* I never believed I would say this but queen of hearts is even scarier than judge frollo, my number 1 baddie! sure, frollo was like Hitler, but he had a tiny bit sanity. he didn't immediately kill the arch deacon, when he stopped him from killing quasimodo, he didn't immediately kill quasimodo, when he left the bell tower, he didn't immediately kill esmeralda, when she rejected him and he didn't immediately kill phoebus, when he disagreed. but with queen of hearts... I would be with her like standing on a rope. one wrong word and off with my head!
Yeah, King Candy was actually unique for a bad guy character, especially when we find out that he was really Turbo, the forgotten star of the fictional arcade game "TurboTime". :D
They could make this list as many times as they want. Disney just makes awesome villains. They're so much more interesting and diverse than the cookie cutter protagonists. Nearly every Disney animated film has a fantastic villain, so I don't know if it's possible to make a bad list. I'd tried to come up with my own top ten, and I ended up with like 23 right off the top of my head that I loved.
WHAT the queen of hearts for number one what is wrong with u people that's all she says "off with their heads, off with their heads!?" What's so great about that...

Facilier should of been number one on this list. He uses evil voodoo, tricks people to get what he wants, has demon shadows as minions, and let's not forget his shadow friend in the background. I can agree with everything else though. Just switch the queen of hearts with facilier and everything will be right with the world ☺️
Horned King I think should be number one as he wanted to raise an army of the dead and was terrifying, but Facilier deserved better than an honourable mention.
I love it when watch Mojo shows clips of films i've watched but don't remember. The black cauldron.... I HAVE to re-watch because I remember it bieng scary as fk
I didn't think it was a disney movie, but yes, that was one hell of a movie when I was little. I remember re-watching it about a year ago or so and it was still just as good
Shan Yu should've been higher. He may not be as humorous or charismatic as some of the others, but on the contrary, he's twice as brutal, merciless and badass. Only few can match that dude in those terms.
Madam Mim, The sword in the stone Prince John, Robin Hood Professor Ratigan The Great mouse detective Yzma ,The emperor's new groove Shan yu, Mulan Mother Gothel, Tangled Lady Tremaine, Cinderella The horned king The black cauldron Shere Khan, The jungle book Queen of Hearts, Alice in Wonderland
how is shun yu lower than cinderalla's mom!? he killed an entire village (women and children included) and, he survived an avalanche with all his soldiers, not to mention he did it in the most bad ass way possible.
"Shan Yu is pretty much an enigma wrapped in a riddle, so viewer never quite sure what his true motives are." Seriously? You'd have to be dense to not know what a Disney villain wants within 5 minutes of their introduction... Unless it's Hans from Frozen. They pulled the wool over our eyes for that one.
+PaszerDye Disney cheated with Hans. They didn't provide a single clue that he was the villain until the moment of the reveal. That's lazy writing, not a clever twist.
The evil stepmother from Cinderella is a massive bitch. She probably isn't considered one of the most scariest Disney villains, but she's definitely one of the most hateful in my opinion. She was also voiced by the same actress who voiced Maleficent. Both characters are actually very similar, not only do they have the same chilling voice but they even have the same sharp facial features. They also both have a touch of class and sophistication to them. The stepmother may not be as scary as Maleficent or some of the other villains in the sense that she has evil powers, but she is someone you could easily hate and she is intimidating. To be honest, I'd say most people are in awe of Disney villains rather than hateful of them. Maleficent is one of the best villains in my opinion, she's somebody that you could fear AND admire.
I feel like Shaun Yu should be higher on the list, at least on par with the Horned King and Shere Khan, because unlike many of the other villains who only ruin the lives of certain individuals, Shaun Yu will kill anyone, massacre entire villages and even joke about it occasionally. He considers war, death, and destruction as a game in order to gain power and make his most powerful enemies submit to his will and if they won't do it willingly he has no problem hacking them to pieces. And if that weren't enough he also captured and held the Emperor hostage with just a handful of men, making him a master strategist and tactician. Not to mention the guy survived being buried in an avalanche, broke open a set of locked heavy doors with just his fists, and chopped down the pillars in the Emperor's palace like they were nothing. The guy was a Juggernaut.
i disagree. your description of him is very accurate, but he was too one dimensional - very boring character with little personality. a good villain should be someone you love to hate, not one you just generally dislike.
Rider4ZMusicVideos I feel like Shaun Yu was neither someone you love to hate or generally dislike. To me he was just plan scary. I guess that's part of why I hold him in such high regard, because unlike some of the other Disney villains on this list and the other, he was one of the villains who I actually found really menacing. I see him not so much one dimensional as underused. In the video they describe him as an enigma within a riddle and I think given his behavior and opinions that is a good description which makes him all the more interesting. The problem is he doesn't have that many scenes which is why I think he may come off as underdeveloped at times.
He's definitely my favorite villain from Disney, and one of my favorite from all animated films (on par with Thrax), and I don't think he's boring at all. In fact the whole sarcastic/comical/sly villain thing gets really old (hook, hades, scar, yzma) Ursula is good but she just comes off as a power-hungry cunt who doesn't do anything in the film besides temporarily steal ariel's voice (although the part where she transforms people into little crabs is cool) and hans, well does pretty much jack shit aside from "break anna's heart" and attempt to kill elsa. Shan Yu was the only motherfucker to really get stuff done, and he was extremely badass when doing it. I think he accomplished more than any other villain (sure Scar killed his brother, well thats it). He's ruthless, cruel, and overall probably the scariest villain out there. TL;DR Shan Yu fucks shit up compared to other pussy villains
I kinda feel bad for Baloo - he managed to avoid Shere Khan's jaws for a bit, but it was only a matter of time before the tiger's teeth ended up in his ass!
Casey Hayward I just watched both top 10's and skimmed a lot of comments to see whether there was any mention of Edgar, I was happy to see your comment. I agree, I like him because he isn't even necessarily evil, he just plays dirty to get what he wants. He's one of the most realistic Disney villains in my opinion.
He's relatible as well. If you took care of and loyally served someone for decades, and everything was given to her cats instead, wouldn't you be angry?
My top 10: 10. Cruella DeVille 9. Ratigan 8. Hades 7. Shere Khan 6. Jafar 5. Scar 4. Horned King 3. Maleficent 2. Chernabog 1. Frollo (Because Godammit, his time at the top is LONG overdue)
I don't get why people add Chernabog to their lists. I mean he was just in a short demonstrating his power. He had no character development or anything.
I'm so glad you included the horned king. That guy still scares the crap out of me to this day. Even though it wasn't a great movie, he is the most terrifying villain I've seen.
Chernabog is awesome, foreboding and all, but he doesn't do much in the department of evil deeds. Still, Night on Bald Mountain is still my favorite Fantasia sequence.
kurosakikun96 Not really. Satan is in South Park and what does he do? Be Saddam Hussein's gay lover. If you don't do anything with the evil creed of being satan, then no you're not doing much in the villain department.
@@skinner2555 This butt bite is definitely unique in Disney history. For one thing, Baloo has a more... *ahem* ... impressive butt than most, and while most of the other characters get bitten by a dog or something, Baloo gets his ass eaten by a fucking *tiger!* *Yeowww!!!*
@@rossogilvie3338 The first element probably explains the second, so it balances out I guess. It's because it's so massive that he could endure a tiger bite without aftermath (although it surely looked painful at the moment!)
My list: 10: The Queen Of Hearts 9: Mother Gothel 8: Ratigan 7: Madam Min 6: Malefecent 5: The Evil Queen 4: Prince John 3: Big Bad Wolf 2: Scar 1: Dr. Facilier
how about a top 10 movies kids love to watch? cause i need some good ones for my 4 month little girl.... p.s a top 10 blink 182 songs would own as well
All 20 of my favorites in chronological order 20. Queen of Hearts (1951) Voice Actor: Verna Felton Defeat: Alice woke up and she was erased from her mind 19. Yzma (2000) Voice Actor: Eartha Kitt Defeat: transformed into a cat by her potion, slammed into window and takes part in Kronk’s squirrel speaking class
Darklarik ya! Good one also! One of my personals favorites is the “Gaston” song from Beaurty and the Beast. That song was awesome 👏. One of the first Disney songs I knew all of the words to. Maybe it’s because, like Gaston, I also was a Narcissist asa teenager
Madam Mim used to scare the living crap out of me when I was a kid, the fact that her eyes and the way she crawled on the table, she just gave me chills.
Frollo was on their first list. He came in at #4. Personally, I think he should have been #1, but that's just me. What makes him such a scary villain is how human he is. He isn't an anthropomorphic animal or supernatural being, he doesn't use magic, and his motive isn't to get power or take over the world. Instead, he's a man who uses faith to justify doing terrible things, whether that's killing an entire ethnic group, imprisoning a man from infancy and teaching him to hate himself, or blaming a young woman for his own attraction to her. Frollo could really exist and that, again, is what makes him so scary. And yet, as complex as Disney made their version of him, he's even more human and sympathetic in the book. In the book, he's a genuinely nice guy who adopts baby Quasimodo out of pity after he's left in the "foundling box" at Notre Dame. It's not until he sees Esmeralda that he becomes aware of his own sexual desires and, consequently, starts to go crazy because not only is he a priest in the original Victor Hugo novel, he's also the Archdeacon of Notre Dame. How's that for awesomely dark? :)
Let me get this straight, your other list you completely left Dr. Facilier and this one he got an honorable mention?!? He is better than half of the villains on the first list and way better than all the villains on this list.
Because WatchMojo has a silly-ass habit of deliberately forgetting to put missed but vital choices on their lists of items from specific categories by themselves.
Hans from Frozen should at least have been in the honorable mentions or somewhere. He is well, unique. At first, you suspect nothing wrong with him, other than the fastest engagement ever. It wasn't hinted at all that he wanted to take over Arendelle [ or whatever he planned to do, I forgot ]. After meeting Anna, he didn't show a grim, smirk, or any other smile that meant "Plan Begun". Near the end of Frozen it was a complete plot twist once you found out his plan. To add it all up, he hid it so well. He could disguise his true plan without a problem. I thought at the beginning he was a good guy. Disney had that plot twist tricking anyone.
Although it makes sense for his character, I preferred his character over the blond guy and was upset by the huge personality switch. plus it does not make sense that a princess made of ice is harder then a steel/iron sword
You're kidding right? Hans? He's scum to be sure, but not really villain level evil. In fact, the whole end of the movie could easily be re-written to where Hans doesn't betray Anna after all, but still can't save Anna because he doesn't actually love her. Elsa still escapes the castle and just as something is about to fall on Elsa, crushing her, Anna moves to protect her just as she freezes solid. Bam. Same outcome sans villain. Hans is barely even an important character in the movie. He's just an opportunist dirt-bag that wants power and isn't squeamish about letting an innocent girl die to get it.
SparcMan He's only scum after they make him a villain; I like him before they did that more than Kristof. Kristof is a big blond guy who talks to his deer and eats snot (those are his words by the way so don't say Im making up insults). So when choice between the two you can't blame me for liking Hans more. I for one was pretty upset when they made my favorite male character into a villain to set Ana up with Kris.
I agrer with you sister. Hans should be somewhere on this list. I mean ge made everyone think he was a good guy, broke Anna's heart and left her to die, nearly killed Elsa and attempted to take over Arendelle. Dude deserves to be on this list.
***** Wrong. He was quite a good villain. However, he was a poor excuse for a Disney villain. Most Disney villains tend to get what they're after (or at least have a position of high power) early on and it's up to the protagonist to take it back from them. If not, they tend to be a very noticeably evil and destructive force. Hans, however, did not have a position of power, nor did he get what he wanted early on. His entire story was manipulating the entire kingdom to make them believe he would be a good king (which he likely would have). The guy wasn't really evil, and he wasn't an important person in the beginning (in the grand scheme of things). Therefore he would have likely made a great villain if he were in say...Game of Thrones or something, but as a Disney villain, he does fall short.
Shan Yu is only no. 6 and Gothel, Tremaine and Shere Kahn are above him? Really, a guy who almost conquered the Chinese Empire is ranked below two old women and a tiger? Also, Prince John is No.9, but Dr Facilier is only an honorable mention? Honestly, this list feels like they just picked ten random Disney villains and put them in random order.
1. Tigers are awesome. 2. Facilier was on the last list. 3. Lady Tremaine is iconic 4. Gothel is the last true theatrical villain Disney has made in there animated movies after that it's twist villain after twist villain in fact I'm going to make a prediction. The next villain that Disney makes is a twist villain.
