Comments on this video: 65%FNAF shouldn't be on this list!!! Ugh!!!!! 30% I can't believe FNAF beat (insert other game here)! 4% Shut up butthurt FNAF haters! 1% This is actually a good and accurate list.
+NoWayWiki it is pretty accurate, but I would have rated Outlast at number 1, solely for the Whistleblower DLC. Eddie Gluskin actually gives me nightmares, and I'm not exaggerating. The fact that he, an ordinary man, can do such horrific things, makes him way scarier than any monster. Alien Isolation ruined the fear aspect by giving you weapons to fight back with.
Glad to see Alien: Isolation as #1. I just recently finished that game and while it had some technical flaws here and there, I seriously enjoyed it and it constantly scared the shit out of me. Every time I encountered the Xenomorph it found some new way to surprise me with its abilities (jumping into a vent, pulling me out from under a table, still attacking me after I hit it with the flamethrower, sneaking up behind me and impaling me with its tail.) It's just such a stunning experience. And the "Crew Expendable" DLC where you get to play as the characters from the original Alien movie was a very cool touch.
played it on dark mode and it allows the xenomorph and walking joes to learn how you play the game, you 100% need a flare here and there, AND theres twice the excitement of your radar twitching and glitching (it sometimes pretends theres something else in the room randomly) oh and there are no maps
***** Ok, I'm just saying not many people will care about it because the comment section is already spammed with these type of comments and fnaf hate comments.

+MinecraftTacoz2016 Before Out last though, came Amnesia with basically the same principle and maybe better execution due to a much better plot and writing. But that's opinions I guess... I mean, I was really blown away at Amnesia's writing and pacing, while Outlast worked like an Amnesia on steroids since it was a lot faster and frantic. And I'd really take Amnesia any day over Outlast. Dat plot twist at the end man, such a downer
〈〉SarahPlayz〈〉 GAH! WE DO NOT MENTION THAT GAME! IT IS SCARIER THAN TERRORIST, DINOSAURS, ANIMATRONICS AND GHOST CHILDREN COMBINED!!! SAVE OUR SOULS!!!!!!!
Here's the thing. FNAF is a good series, but not a good "horror" series. I think of it as more of a tense strategy game. In my opinion the series is not bad. I think the lore is more why I like it. The 4th one has the most tension of all of them and is a nice change in direction from the others. I understand how someone would think the series sucks. That's fine. I totally get it. If you want to get scared, don't buy this game. If you're into deep lore and strategy based games, then give it a try.
+eric miller Also, those saying that Scott is lazy and just wants money, you try making a scary game with little staff and equipment. It's hard to make something scary! This is a guy who normally makes friendly little christian games, and you all expect him to magically make something terrifying. It takes 4 months to make these because that's all he needs! It naturally shouldn't take long to make a game like this. And he gave a bunch of the $ to charity.
+eric miller Plus while the creator is making mad bank off of it he donates most of it to charity. He's genuinely a nice guy, I mean if you want to sell merch all you need to do is ask him. Shit, the man almost quit the industry entirely but he got back in in a big way.
Awfully said. But another strategy game with lore. Like Frozen Synapse Prime or something. Because essentially since you're explaining those two would be the same right? Fnaf is fucking autistic.
What's up with you do you like pewdiepie? Is that why you hate fnaf when it has the award scariest beat rated game of the century? Bitchs like you really need to play a game it beat outlast
Hira sheikh I haven't watched any PewDiePie and it doesn't interest me. To be fair, I have not actually played any games on this list. I've watched a playthrough of REmake and it left me scared to sleep for days afterwards; FNAF 4, while by far the scariest of the games in my opinion, doesn't leave nearly as much of a mark because the only real scare it offers is jumpscares. They can be frightening at first but you quickly get desensitized to it. Also, yeah, it's incredibly immature to tell me to "go die" because my opinion differs from yours. If you'd look at reviews for the FNAF games, especially the latest, you'll see quite a few people don't like it for the reason I stated.
FNAF is above outlast because it's scarier. P.S silent hill sucks pussy and Ass. seriously. I Think it's, like, more overrated than the whole fnaf franchise.
+Anotherdudethatplaysminecraft Tch, Pyramid Head is way scarier than your "Toy Freddy" or the all scary "Balloon Boy". Although, the 4th installment is actually really scary, it's not as scary as Silent Hill.
+Underdrill I agree 100%, I looked into the code and development and the game is really poorly made. I hate the fact that it's so popular just because the only real skill it took the guy was only animating the jump scares while everything else can be coded and made by a highschool student.
+Underdrill Just because you think it isn't scary doesn't mean that somebody else can't be scared by it. I, for one, think Fnaf 1 and 4 are actually quite scary. I dare you to play them in the dark, headset on and leave all the doors wide open. However, The Last of Us is indeed way more scarier than this series.
I tried FNAF. In the dark. With headphones. Alone. After maybe the first two jumpscares the game became a mildly tense point and click strategy game that I got bored of quickly. I'm not just saying that to sound tough. I tried playing Outlast in similar conditions and ended up powering off my laptop and reading a book for an hour to calm my nerves. Could someone explain to me why so many people find FNAF so scary?
Because Five Nights at Freddy's is the most overrated and unoriginal piece of shit ever. The only people who are scared of it are immature 12 year olds.
+Crazy ChromeZ do u have a life? You just reply to all the fnaf comments and fnaf is scary (Everybody has an opinion) if you play it in the dark with the volume up to max :)) we don't need to argue...everybody has it'a own opinion. U don't need to hate or insult someone because he likes something u dislike Peace
+Brothers of Gaming sorry but using only jump scares as your weapon of choice in a "scary video game" is one of the shittiest and bland things you could do and negates heavily from how good the game is.
Why are so many clowns on here lambasting FNAF? I know it's not particularly brilliant but you don't have to point out your feelings about the game every time you have half a chance.
+Dominic Sear Exactly. I hate that about gamers nowadays. If something is popular and they don't like it themselves they just HAVE to ruin it for the ones that do enjoy it. It's so annoying, not to mention extremly immature.
The reason why is because the game was on this list. Were you dropped on your head ad a child? Cawthon is fucking gamers wallets and dishing out cheap jumpscares:that's why I feel the need to point out how bad it is, before its too late and all horror games are shit.
For all the people hating on FNAF: It's not the whole series, it was just the first. It was so popular because besides having tons of jumpscares, the setting was really creepy and kept you under a lot of pressure since you had to pay attention to your generator power and the position of the animatronics. I think there wouldn't be this much hate if the community wasn't so defensive and if the 1st game was the only game.
+ThePizzaMan347 yeah criticizing is far from hating. Heres an example to help you understand hate: "i hate fag nights at freddies because its an awful game and i dont understand how anyone can like this stupid game".
Who else came here because of the thumbnail, knowing there was going to be a bunch of butthurt comments? Although I disagree with FNaF being higher than Outlast.
2nd place? omg also outlast 4th is hilarious and alien isolation is not the scariest game; where is dead space, the evil within, siren or project zero? and until dawn is scarier than all the games in the list, trust me
It did. lol.www.google.com/search?q=fnaf+1&rlz=1C1AVSX_enUS416&oq=fnaf+1&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i61.2536j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=five+nights+at+freddy%27s

Wikipedia ***Initial release date: August 8, 2014"***
So glad to see alien isolation getting the recognition it deserves. It’s the best and scariest horror game i’ve ever played. The thing is, it manages to keep a knot in your stomach and your pulse at 100+ due to the creepy and tense atmosphere. You really don’t ever feel safe (even when you know you are). The absolute worst part is the hospital early on when you’re completely defenseless, just gotta bite down and go for it. It also doesn’t rely on jumpscares to retain its “scary” status, but those that exist are well placed and often don’t pose any threat but rather as a way to keep you on your toes. Aside from the horror aspects, it’s also very well made, with gorgeous visuals, great optimization, great production value with tons of attention to detail and dripping in atmosphere. One of those games i wish i could play for the first time again.
+The Wilfred Nothing, the story it tried to convey was thrown together crap and the game truly got worse as you can tell by its sells. Really it was the creators just cashing in on the firsts success by enticing the young and naive by quickly making the rest to gain money. (Which was very smart, so i don't dislike the creator in any way)
So the first FNAF = Meh, not rlly s scary... FNAF 2 = Kk, a lil bit freaked... FNAF 3 = Springtrap and organs kinda hit me hard there.....that's spooky... FNAF 4 = Holy shit them teeeetthhh! FNAF Sister Location (teasers only currently) = Holy fuck kill me now not ANOTHER ONE!! Annnn I'm scared to crap...FUCK THE LIGHTTTZZ!!
***** While I do think that Outlast is scarier than FNAF, the thing in FNAF that scared me was the atmosphere. It was quiet and dark which I think is a great way of creating suspense, but if you don't find it scary, that's your opinion and I won't disrespect it.
+Mia Nicholls: music NO says everyone else in the comment section id love for there to be a change of topic. i knew FNAF would get some controversy for being on the list at all, but honestly, ive been scrolling for ages and i have not seen a SINGLE comment NOT related to FNAF
People just coming here saying "fnaf isn't scary" just so they can get likes but it actually is pretty scary, at least the first time you'd jump out of your pants, it's not as scary as it is sort of, unnerving
+Captain Bozo yeah that's true I was wonder why they didn't include it either but that does makes sense since it only came out a couple days before this video. Bet it will get number 1 though if they make another lol
Splatted_Sailor I know but only noobs get so "scared" undertale is fun and a little bit creepy when you know the sans dinner thing part "you'd be dead where you stand" and the genocide rute is creepy but the rest is funny, sad, caring, and really sometimes adorable and really serious
Splatted_Sailor I think the way Five Nights at Freddy's induces fear into players isn't by the Jump-scares them self, but the feeling of tension that's always present no matter what, it's sort of like being trapped in a confined space with 4 people trying to hunt you down and murder you, you know their coming, but you're never sure when, and because you're trying to survive for a certain period of time, you're constantly under a huge amount of stress, trying to keep everything in order but you feel too hopeless to do anything about it, it's not really the delivery that makes FNaF scary, but more the feeling that comes before it.
+Towlie the Towel What? really? Outlast is not nearly as scary as alien isolation. When you get chased in outlast, you run around for a bit and get away from the stupid AI that can wack you up to four times before you die... when chased in alien isolation, you panic to bring up your low-fueled flamethrower to fire before you die three seconds later.
+Kirsty Riordan Evil Within is more of a extremely creepy version of Resident Evil. I do give the game props on the story, atmosphere, and symbolism - but scares? To me, doesn't really bring the spook as much as it does the creep. Also, I think Evil Within was an honorable mention on the first list.
the people down here saying a bunch of stuff about Five Nights At Freddy's need to calm down, it is someone's opinion on games and though I do like the game it isn't because of the game itself it's because of the plot, the story with it is extremely interesting to me and people have no right to tell others whether the game they like sucks because it is an *opinion*
I bet that 75% of the people that hate on fnaf here never bothered playing it and only watched pewdiepie's playtrough. The game is quite stresful when you try to survive night 4 or 5.
lol nope, people who hate it actually know what a good horror game is, I played 1 and 2 and it wasn't scary there's a big difference between a scary game and a jumpy game, FNAF is a jumpy game, sure the room is pretty dark but you just stand there waiting for the jumpscares so it's not scary at all, gonna give you an example of true HORROR game, Until Dawn, if you kids don't know what it is look it up, the game has great mechanics, great and clear story, so if you fnaf fanboys keep saying the story is great it's false, the game has no story, the fanboys have to make up with teories that fill youtube, that's why it sucks not having a clear story, anyway, back to Until Dawn, the game has perfectly timed scares and a really REALLY creepy atmosphere
FunkyFeitoNoPaintCat Did you even play one game in the series? If so, then your opinion is absolutely fine. Do you even have a reason for hating on it? And last, you can move in Fnaf 4. And BTW. I'm not a kid, I'm 15.
Vojta Zeman did you even read it? it says "I played 1 and 2" but when I said "kids" i meant mostly the fanboys and tbh I have to admit FNAF 4 is a little scary, but it gets boring and repetitive
FunkyFeitoNoPaintCat Oh sorry. I didn't see. And if you don't like it, thats ok. But you don't have to bash it. It's not perfect. It was made by one man. And it's not like he is buying some good things for the money he got. He send everything to charity.
Five nights at freddy's? The game is suspenseful, not scary. anything that pops up in real life (Scary or not) will make us jump, only due to the suspense leading up to the unexpected thing that popped up.
The comments should've been turned off on this video, because they're all the same, Why FNAF on here? So stupid FNAF isn't scarier than Outlast. FNAF sucks, it's not scary The jumpscares in FNAF aren't scary FNAF gets boring after the first second Why is there a comment with all this in? Nothing productive in the comments at all.
Whoops, just saw a How young are you WatchMojo? If FNAF is in this then thumbs down I hate FNAF What's so good about FNAF? The good gameplay mechanics, jumpscare and dense story.
To those of you who say FNAF is not scary, you should be smart enough to know that fear is subjective. You might not find it scary, but others do. The fear doesn't just come from the jumpscares. It's the atmosphere and feeling of helplessness as the enemy makes its way to you. Many of you guys tell us to respect your opinions, yet you never even respect ours to begin with. It's honestly really childish and is the main reason I think the haters are worse than the fandom.
I mean that if you think it's not scary, that's fine, but what I have a problem with is the fact that people feel the need to harass the fans just because they don't share the same interests. If you simply dislike the game, I have no problem with you. If you dislike me for simply liking a game, it is you alone who is the childish one.
i agree with you dude. like i know a guy who said fnaf isnt scary AND HE HASENT EVEN PLAYED IT. dude literly it is scary. markiplier even said "this is one of the scariest games i ever played" or "this is the scariest game i ever played"
Yes, fear is subjective, but, there is a difference between actually fearing something and getting startled at something, and FNAF falls on the 2nd, i wont like to you, i find the lore and story actually good, but the gameplay is just not for me, i find it boring and the jumps scares just an annoyance, they just startle you because they are compatible louder and more animated that 90% of the game, wile games like Alien Isolation create an actual immersive atmosphere, and yes, i know its unfair to compare the two, but they were on the list, another example i can give you is Fatal Frame and Silent Hill, is not just the atmosphere, but the fact that they are longer games, and you actually not just fear for the creatures, but you fear that you could get killed and potentially lost HOURS of gameplay, and not to mention toying with the idea of facing, not the monsters in the game, but the monsters on your head.
Alien Isolation is freaking scary but all the jump scares are is an alien slowly opening it's mouth followed by like maybe 5 frames of the tiny mouth going toward your face and a black screen with a slightly disturbing sound.
American McGee's Alice (although not on this list) and Clive Barker's Undying were the scariest for me. It's not always what you see that scares you to death, it's what you don't see that sends chills down your spine. Fear of the Unknown that is.
PT has got to have a place on this list somewhere. none of these games took over the internet for like 48 hours after its release like PT did, and when Silent Hills was canned the public furor was so intense that it was getting coverage in mainstream media. Since then many games have come out that were clearly inspired by PT and in at least 1 case was an unapologetic straight up rip off (layers of fear)
