As a disabled person I have experienced similar issues to what you are talking about, but it is good that you are bringing awareness of these issues to the public.
It's very sad know that people are forced to get divorce in orde to have the right to health services, especially considering that these people live in the largest economy in the world. Fortunately, this beautiful couple is makingg a differece, with their positive way, to make things better.
You’re such a cute couple! Your hair and clothes are absolutely gorgeous. Glad you came back to DC in time for some better weather, thanks for showing the grounds and some of the speech!
The marriage inequality with disabled people is definitely a huge issue and needs to change. My husband lost his SSI and only receives $700 a month from SSD when we got married in 2013. He's been on disability since he was 19 and is 44 now. We would be homeless without the privilege of help from family.
It sucks that some employers do the bare minimum. I hope to find a company someday that goes above and beyond - that would be awesome! I love your hair Charisma! Cole - so happy to hear that all was well this time around in terms of no overheating. Thank you for everything you do as advocates for the disability community.
Airlines have todo better with wheelchairs. I don't think they know how much they cost. If they have to start replacing them, I bet they'll learn how to handle them more carefully.
Im so glad i live near a train station, feel like the Marc/Amtrak are alot better at accommodating wheelchairs. Its getting out of the stations in dc which is the worst, because when i went, theres no way to make sure the elevators are working, they really need to put more elevators in stations. I haven't been there in a while so i don't know if its gotten better. Im not disabled but ive had to travel to drop off my brother's wheelchair and once i went with my mother that has trouble walking for long periods without her chair.
Dang you guys are really going places! Love how no matter what you push forward. Still much work to be done for the disabled community in our country. I have been to places where handicapped parking is so far from the door. People abuse it and park in them illegally or there’s no blue parking or ramps at all. I was in a wheelchair for over 3 years and I hate to admit it but it took that for me to realize that there’s such a problem with accessibility. I can walk again but I still struggle with steps and standing for long without a wall off railing to lean on. I use the blue parking but I hate dealing with the abusers and those places where the parking is far away.
I can relate to your employment and social security/medicaid issues. I can't get medicaid due to my husband's income. We have been together for 28 years and I worked for 38 years. Now that my disability has worsened, I rely on SSDI. My only insurance is Medicare. We struggle every month, but I could not imagine divorcing my husband.🤷♀️
Thanks get going and help fight for all of us that live with any type of physical health issue and on SSA, SSDI and yes even VA Pension for widows/widowers that's on disability because it effects our benefits the same. I'm learning this the hard way. After being approved for it in 2016 they have now decided I make to much money on my disability(680ish) a month to get it AND they want me to pay it all back now. Please keep in mind they knew I was on disability and it was the only way I qualified to get it being a disabled widow of a war vet. The PACT is good but it didn't go far enough to help protect us.
I agree that they should hold this event where the weather isn’t so hot. Heat is very dangerous for many people who have various disabilities. November might be too cold though. Mid October would probably be better.
OMG! YES Charisma, your hair is stunningly beautiful! Thank you Cole and Charisma for sharing your travels, etc! Awe, you both look so classy and sassy Cole!
How do you get invited to stuff like this? I would love to be involved like you are. Please let me know. I mean I worked for an organization for people with disabilities for 10 years and I have published 3 books on self empowerment. RJ
In a BIG picture, the USA 🇺🇸 needs to do much better with Disabilities, mental health, and GUN violence. This vote really counts to make this change, too. Young people like yourselves have the way to a better future, and I thank you both!
It's refreshing hearing and watching how both of you have matured and evolved. Charisma you've becoming more beautiful and Cole so handsome. I've watched since the posting of Coles accident video all the years ago!!!!!! I love your advocacy. Thank you for sharing your lifes and journeys .
Thank you for your information about the ADA act. I had no idea of the challenges interabled people face in regards to marriage inequality. I have only recently discovered your channel and am so glad I did. I have learned so much from you. You are both beautiful souls. I am an 80 year old woman from Winchester, VA. My wife died 10 years ago so I am always looking for ways occupy my time and learn things while doing so. Thank you.❤️
Okay- certainly not anywhere close to important relating to this video; but Cole and Charisma, you both look stunning during the debrief/recap portion of the video. Hot damn.
This is such truth. I’ve experienced this struggle for so long. I always say I can’t afford to work. With my disabilities I can’t work enough to fully support myself but I can’t only work part time because it’s just the right amount to kick me off off my recourses but with out the resources I can’t afford to live on my own with medical expenses and everything.
Hi Cole and Charisma! I am a case manager for MN disability benefits and something that I think able-bodied people need to know more about is what “benefits” are. So many people see the word benefits as something that is not necessary for survival- sort of as an upgrade. Please say more about what benefits are, and how the laws keeping disabled people from getting married are really laws saying “if you get married you can’t have the life-giving care you need to survive.”
OMG y'all both look so amazing ❤❤❤... yeeesssss charisma I love the wash & go those curls are beautiful...I love watching y'all just seeing y'all look into each other's eyes & the beautiful smile make me still believe in true love ...thank you for sharing this vlog with us bc this is very much important & Im happy y'all are putting this out there for the world to see
LOVE the wash and go hair Charisma! Your curls are perfect! The bow tie was pretty snazzy Cole. How fun to have another couple to go places with, Love Shane & Hannah too! Nothing more comforting than snipers on the roof eh? I love how where ever you go you are promoting having access for W/C users.
The Johnson Family from RU-vid recommended Alaska Airline They have been very accommodating to their daughter needs The flight attendants research her needs before every flight
Thank you for attending the White House ADA event and sharing some of the important highlights with us! That is so awesome that there is a photo of you all posted somewhere in the White House! I love you hair natural Charisma! Enjoy the rest of your trip! Much love to you both and Sophie girl ❤
I wish there was a way that married couples could still drawl ssi when the wife had been a stay at home mom and not worked enough credits in. I'm having to get a divorce because we can't make it on just his income.
I am in a power chair. My issue with the prototype of plane seats for chairs is are the feds going to supplement delta for the space needed to fit in a chair space? Playing devils advocate
So good to see the both of you celebrating! Cole you look very handsome in longer hair...it would be nice to see how you look as you continue to grow your hair!
OK, Cole said he gets very Anxious in crowds. Isn't that WHY YOU HAVE A SERVICE DOG?? Of course it is, Sophie should go and know the Task of mitigating Coles anxiety. I always find it odd that people with real Service Dogs, don't bring them in the very situations where they are taught to provide Service. Hmmmm. I Have a SD and he must be with me. That's why I have him. C&C, is Sophie more of a pet now? ❤ Love you guys🐕🦺 PS Love Coles hair, natural and loose
Sophie is not an emotional support animal. She doesn’t help Cole with anxiety. Her service dog tasks involve picking things up when Cole drops something and alerting someone if Cole falls over and can’t get up. Sophie is extremely helpful to Cole when I am not around. Service dogs deserve breaks too…
Leaving a dog alone is a violation of the pet policy in hotels. I know this because I reported a barking dog (many hours) in the middle of the night and the front desk told me they couldn’t reach the owners and she locked them out of their room.
Cole and Charisma, I understand what you are saying. We should create a disabled Zoom for Vice President Harris. That way, we can collaborate with you guys.
It's so good you're getting recognized for doing good work. I pray the authorities and stakeholders will do something about these three major issues you mentioned. Would love to see your pictures on the wall in the White House too. BTW, I love both your hairs.
I cant believe the two of you were invited to the white House , and you are not acknowledging the President or Vice President in this video , this is the only administration that have invites you and never one shout out , unbelievable .
