This is a real video, Boyd makes stuff like this all the time with different skills, he takes the total time he spent doing it, so if it took him like 24 hours to do something, it might've been a week of work, but in terms of hours he worked only 24 on it in that whole week, he had a little experience with skating but not much so I think it's real

@@berrbbensonjust_frick_0ff228 Yeah I get this, it's a fair point. I think if that was the case then these guys should be honest about it and say "it wasn't just time on the board, I obsessed over braille videos and practices the motions like rolling my ankle for a long time off the board. That's not including all of the time spent in my youth learning to balance on the damn thing". All I see here is fake RU-vidrs trying to flex on everyone and discredit those of us that dedicate a lot of time and effort into the sport. They are essentially saying "nah look how easy this is" and manipulating the true amount of effort invested to fool their gullible audience that don't know anything about skating.

I also find it very difficult to buy that this guy learned to kickflip in a matter of hours. I skated from age 11 till I was about 20. It was a bit on and off, I skated for a year, then stopped for a year, then got back into it, etc. It took me literally over 3 years (or over 2 years of active skating time) until I landed my first kickflip. The funny thing is that once you learn it, it's like riding a bike -- it stays with you. I'm 38 now and haven't skated in about 18 years. Lately, I've been thinking of getting back into skating and just got myself a board literally yesterday. Within 10-15 minutes of being on that board, I still managed to land a kickflip. It wasn't very high, the land was rather sloppy, and it took some attempts, but both feet landed on the board. Not to mention that I weigh about 50 pounds more now than I used to back in my skating days. If this guy actually landed the kickflip within a matter of hours, I'm 99% convinced that his past experience included some level of attempting to kickflip.

If this was fake why wouldn't he shorten the time? If he knew how to kickflip already don't you think a better title would've been "Learned how to kickflip in 1 hour." As a fake video would only want views or would that make it too obvious? 🤣🤣 I don't get what you mean by this being fake. As a skater I get that his progress in such a short time is crazy, but if it's fake what do you mean? Are you implying he skates all the time and is pretending he can't kickflip? Cause I find that hard to believe. He makes tons of other videos about learning skills (which should also be fake cause this one is right?), never seen him on a board before this. If its fake because he "skated as a kid" I think that's a very redundant point. I learned how to rollerskate as a kid 15 years ago but can't anymore as its been a very long time. Would I be lying if I made a video on me learning how to rollerskate? By that logic you learned how to stand and balance as a baby so you didn't learn how to skate from scratch either. See how weird that sounds?
@AceSk8sTwo
@AceSk8sTwo 8 месяцев назад
technically even if you learned something as a kid your funny brain has a funny thing called muscle memory which is 100% permanent (though there is some factors that can effect this) and lets you progress at sometimes over 3x the speed, that's why a lot of like gymnasts or skaters who practiced as a kid, for example will start off already off the bat knowing several easy skills and learning the hard skills is scientifically about 3x easier, so even if it was just learning how to cruise, from anywhere to an ollie, or used to be able to kick flip, that translates over via muscle memory. just like if you worked out in the past your body will get muscle back way easier then if starting off fresh. and yes this means any amount of experience, could be a day, could be a few years, obviously more time put in will make it easier to re-learn skills, the only reasons I can agree with this being "fake" is the just due to the lack of information provided by the youtuber, and clichés, a lot which you can visibly see by being a skilled skater, I like the dude in the video, I like his content, and he is a respectful person, and I do agree that skater culture can a lot of the times be toxic, but the man knows what he is talking about and mike saying he has 0 experience and only did it in 5-6 hours is kind of bogus, especially when in the video it is visibly changing days several times, just the fact of practicing and sleeping already puts you at an advantage since your brain stores information you learned throughout the day into your subconscious, that's literally the main way skateboarders learn tricks, it is pretty much impossible to learn most tricks within the time period of a few hours unless you already have mad experience and comfortability on your board under your belt.
@TheKinji789
@TheKinji789 8 месяцев назад
@@AceSk8sTwo He clearly doesn't hide the fact the days pass, the last video had the same problem. It's not 6 hours consecutively its 6 total hours spent on the board trying the tricks. As for muscle memory I know that it exists and is a strong factor though I don't think that would be a good reason to say it's fake. Regardless of if he was a pro skater at 12 or just stepped on a board here and there if he can't kickflip he can't kickflip. Having muscle memory of something doesn't mean you have it. Like I said I can't rollerskate if I tried since it's been a while, though if I spent 6 hours trying i'd probably start getting it. Would you not consider that learning? If anything it could be considered "re-learning" but that would be weird and also called fake as he has no proof of knowing how to do it before hand. Either way, I feel trying to "call him out" for being fake is unnecessary. He clearly has no intention of misleading us. If he was actually a pro skater making this video then I'd call it fake, or if he cut out 1,000s of attempts and actually spent months and claimed 6 hours. Just overall weird to call this fake.
@AceSk8sTwo
@AceSk8sTwo 8 месяцев назад
Yeah, I mean it seems like he did cut out a lot of attempts due to time skips and whatnot, but im not sure since none of us know the behind the scenes, the only thing im saying is because we dont know the behind the scenes its kind of suspicious because imo the behind the scenes is a good 1/4 to half of skating@@TheKinji789

Where did he say that he knew how to ollie? He said he skated in the past but implied that it had no bearing on current starting point, which is clearly false given the fact he "learned" to ollie in 10 minutes. Good of him to mention it at all of course, even if he downplayed it.
@rxmink
@rxmink 8 месяцев назад
@@sebjan180 okay I'm tweaking but it's heavily implied, he said he went to the skate park several times when he was a kid, and most people can learn to Ollie within their first day and have a decent one within a few sessions, so him relearning it that quickly makes sense with what he says in his own video
@rxmink
@rxmink 8 месяцев назад
@@sebjan180 I agree he downplayed it to an extent, but if you skate you know what's capable within a few sessions, either way this video is literally 8 years old so I figure if he were to do it today he may have done it differently

Started skating again this year at 40, it has been 20 year since I skated and when I skated last I was able to kickflip but not consistently. It took me about 4 weeks to land my first kickflip this time around and that was me skating 3-5 evenings a week and one day on the weekend at least 2 hours every session. Personally I hate these "I learned a trick in no time" videos these people make. It really hinders new skaters IMO.
@rxmink
@rxmink 8 месяцев назад
New skaters shouldn't be comparing them selves to anyone, there's literally always gonna be a kid whos way better than you and progressing faster than you, that's part of skating man, if somebody is comparing them selves to someone else that's a problem within itself not one guys fault for documenting his very realistic progress. I have literally seen people treflip in less time, that being said they did do it before learning Ollie's and kickflips. But I've seen people learn kickflips their first day on the board in real life, it happens. People are always gonna progress faster and it's part of skateboarding, it's not the responsibility of others to not document their progress for the security of beginners comparing themselves to it
