When I saw someone had replied to my comment I was expecting to see someone defending the man's creepy behaviour, so your comment was a lovely surprise! Sometimes it seems like you're fighting a losing battle when you're trying to explain these things to someone. Scrolling through the comments, it is terrifying me to see that some people think this is okay and that she doesn't have the right to feel uncomfortable. He didn't stop eyeing her up and down the whole time! There were clearly sexual undertones to all of his actions. I agree though, I wish she had directly vocalised her concerns before talking to her imaginary people. But I'm glad this ad is drawing attention to the institutionalised sexism we've all become accustomed to.

NS_Ann skyfullacomets - No problem, I appreciated the commentaries both of you provided. Anyone who thinks the man's behavior in the ad was okay has an honorary membership to the "Creeps 'R Us Club". They're going around disrespecting women (or others) and wondering why they receive negative results. Luckily, not everyone belongs to this club.

monkeyboy Wow, couldn have said it better myself. Usually I dont interact with stranger women anymore, most of them are rude, uptight, judgmental(they think they can sense everythin) and uncivilized. Positive interaction with women have been soo rare that i actually remember those few clearly. Whenever we go out to the local pub here, we end up interacting with other guys a lot. Interactions with women are very very limited.

I think some people may have misunderstood the portrayals in this video. Firstly, in Indian society it is generally considered unacceptable for a woman to go out alone. Also, the fact that she has her hair down and wears the colour red - a colour associated with passion - can be taken to mean that it is alright to mistreat her. The man approaches her, obviously normal behaviour, but then he asks if she is waiting for someone - i.e are you single? - or anyone - i.e are you a prostitute/hookup? This is very offensive because he is already showing prejudice about her just because she's alone. Her reaction towards him is to get him to back off because she wants to be alone. And it's okay for people to want to be alone in bars if they want. He couldn't take a hint, which was when she gave him short answers to indicate lack of interest in conversation.

At first I thought she's going to pour the water over his head or splash at his face but the girl is quite decent. As for the man, he would go back to his wife and fight over trivial things after getting drunk.

StrangeScenario no , i think what he means is that generally in a social setting when people want to talk, this particular ad should not let any girl or a guy to think that all they want to do is have sex. it could be a normal conversation of getting to know too. so, maybe this ad when it tries to touch the topic of any girl who is sitting alone in a bar is not a hooker neither is every guy who approaches her straight away asking for sex.

I have no idea how this is a woman empowerment ad. She seemed really rude when he was trying to make conversation. She would've just said she was waiting for someone and she wasn't interested in speaking with him. She wasn't particularly smart in her responses. Extremely bad writing from the ad agency. Being rude doesn't equate to being powerful or smart.

chinchu sunny Just to let you know (if by any chance you actually don't know this already), many a times, women dress up pretty and walk into a bar alone or with their girlfriends and wait for someone (anyone) i.e. a guy, to approach them & start a conversation. And if they find each other interesting, they take things further from there. This ad tells women nothing more but to be a cheeky, drama queen!

Ok, I loved your other ads, but this misses the mark completely. Being "bold" or "empowered" doesn't give anyone (yes, both men and women) a license to be rude and a jerk. If she wanted to be by herself, all she had to do was to make it perfectly clear. While he may have been pushing it slightly with his comments, he didn't touch her, or use any form of profanity. Also remember, this is a social scenario. A bar is a place where people can relax and generally engage in casual conversation. This would have been inappropriate and the actions justifiable if this incident occurred in other public locations.

Abhilasha Purwar Well if you know about the scenario in Delhi bars you probably wont be saying that , where a whole lot of bars act as a pickup spot . There is a way to talk to a woman who wants to socialize , even I do that , when I talk to someone attractive in a club ,and I can asure you that its not overtly sexual ,just striking a normal conversation. Well the reaction of the woman was a bit dramatic, but that was to prove a point , but try stepping into a Delhi /NCR bar all alone and you would know :)

Lesson learned. 1. When he ordered a drink she was looking at him. It's a sign otherwise she don't care who orders what. 2. When he said "are you waiting for someone?" "or just anyone" was the line where she got her EGO hurt saying you think I'm here for anyone? That's when shit just got real. Be smooth and don't make her feel like she is here only for you or anyone it will make her feel cheap or gives an impression that your thinking is cheap. Be little funny and treat her like a queen. The End.

Stupid ad. Whats the harm if a man approaches without being creepy. She had the option to reject him politely and not call him "uncle". By this way she is demeaning the elderly people. Trying to act progressive but came out as lame.

The other two ads in the series were awesome, but this one was a fail. He was perfectly polite initially and she could've just said she wasn't looking for conversation. She just went full on psycho and defensive for no reason. If a guy did that to a girl who approached him he'd be an asshole. Also, i hope they made her pay for the glass. So excessive.

Either she is too old to call 'him' an uncle or 'He' is too young to be 'her' uncle. There is barely 8-10 year age gap between them (could be even lesser than that) and it is not like she is 16 or 18 for her to be calling him Uncle so liberally. Think of it , if it would have been reverse and a adult man would call a woman some years older than him flirting as an 'Aunty' everyone would pounce on the man calling him 'sexist' , 'rude; etc.

S Rai - seriously, is this how you talk to a woman who have no clue about, asking her if she is just waiting for anyone? His whole attitude is wrong, as if he's somehow superior to her. I would be surprised if a guy behaves like this and thinks a woman will be nice to him. Even men will not be nice to a woman who behaves like him.

yeah! jeez- its called "hitting on someone"- for which the apt response is "No" if you are uninterested, or "yes/wisecrack/interesting story" if you are interested......the lady in question acted as if she was interested instead of just saying "no".....it's all fun, you know, and also that's how many people (if not all) find love! Had the guy lingered around after a firm "No", then and only then would he be an ass.....peace!

Even if the man in the video was supposed to be a 'bad guy' a lot of us kind of feel bad for him because most of us know what it is like to be insulted or spoken rudely to. I don't think it is a great idea to insult someone over their age ( or for the matter status, education/english, physical disability, sexual orientation etc). If I would be her, I would simply get up and go away from that spot or tell him to leave me alone. If he would still persist after being told a couple of times not to bother me , then I will definitely insult him( like she did) or call the security

How is this a "Bold is beautiful". This is a "Rude and Stupid is trendy" advertisment. I come across several such situation, initiated by all kind of men - sweet, creepy, as well as amazing men whom I ended up dating. But, in either case, what sort of reply is this ? Just say three golden words - "Sorry !! Not interested" or you can use more words - "I am not interested in talking to you", or "I want my lone time, please", or "Please don't disturb me". Atleast use one of these or similar phrases before getting into the whole imaginary friends and dropping the glass shenanigans. Btw, Myntra and Anouk- This ad is really inspiring young girls and women to be rude and annoying and "NOT" CONSIDERTE or STRONG or BOLD or SANE or WISE or HUMAN. #StopBullshitting

Additionally the motive of the video might have been good but the presentation is fucking shabby. All he did was approach her and flirt with her, it is not like he touched her or said something obnoxiously lewd , can't a man at a bar( or a woman) even flirt with someone he likes?? What is a bar for then? Bhajans? Studying? Satsang?? . I wonder if it is okay for the woman in this video to flirt with an extremely handsome guy( who could be much younger than her) , will it be a touch hypocritical? Right? Assuming she is not a celibate, I assume she will also ogle at good looking guys. I could be wrong, but at the end of the video, I actually felt bad for the man. She could have told him to go away and just told him that she is not interested instead of humiliating him like that. Though in this case, the guy was hitting on her, It is common behavior for lot of Indian women to think' Any guy who speaks with them is flirting or hitting on them'. Indian women/girls are beautiful but I don't like the ' Everybody mere pe line maar raha hain' attitude. Please don't take offense on my views. I have utmost respect for women and girls but not every guy is a rapist ( even if he is flirting).

Soon enough, women are gonna crib about how no one talks to them at bars fearing that they'd turn out to be a psycho case like the woman in the video, she's got anger issues, imaginary friends, flawed perception of age and No class whatsoever. Very Unladylike and impolite.
