Just got out of the Kennedy Center seeing her live, and she played this right after a 10 minute standing ovation. Speechless right now! Highly recommend seeing her live if you get the chance!
Truly mystical. The present and future of Indian music. Nobody else has presented the music to the world like Pandit ji and his daughter.. both own the music and the world
Yeah, there's that M3 sound but I think we're commenting through the filter of western music theory. I like to say that there're an unending "number" of intervals and we can hear(if only in the mind) and appreciate them all without scrutiny or analysis via a certain filter/perspective.

Yes, Thank You, I meant in the tonal flavor and not the metric form. Raag Jog features two of what are considered the 'blue notes' in tradition. These being the lowered third and lowered 7th notes (ga and ni respectively). However Jog also includes the natural 3rd not (shuddh Ga) . The difference in the third notes determines if a western chord is either Major (natural) or Minor (lowered). Blues music regularly exists scale wise, in this major / minor netherworld. The lowered 7th further colors the music as in the blues it marks the departure from the traditional 1/2 step between the 7th and the tonic notes of the diatonic scale. The third 'blue note' is the lowered fifth note which is not in the raga Jog but with the flurry of embellishments that perhaps are used on the ma or Pa of the raga scale , this lowered 5th or raised 4th could possibly be touched on , lending a ' darker ' feel to the music. ...Hope I was clear and I beg your indulgence as these are my western guitar playing ears speaking. I cite Jog because I first heard the incredible 28 minute rendition by Pt Raviji on one of his early recordings in the west and the 'blues shading' was really apparent .....Thank You again..
+burman smith its wonderful you took the time to explain its wonderful how these 2 different styles can coexist beautifully.. how 2 different styles of music can apparently paint similar soumdscapes
I always love and a big big fan of Prasanna Thiyagaraja. Doesn’t mean that I am not a fan of Anoushka 😂. Look at her when she acknowledges his amazing talent. Wow… This is by far the wowsome performance from the Team. You will always love rag Jog..and this one from Anoushka is a masterpiece. Last but least about the Shehnai.. Hope this is played by Sanjeev Shankar. Tbh now words to express ..I am blessed to watch this 🎉🎉

The music of Faso is an inexhaustible source of sweetness. It allows us to plunge deep inside ourselves and at the same time resonate with our fellow man, Yé Lassina Coulibaly
We need to remember that it's similar to Raga Nattai in Carnatic Music. The other version of the raga deploys Shuddh Nishad as well. The treatment of the raga lays great emphasis on Madhyam that adds deeper shades of pathos to its intrinsic desolate mood.
