Yep that's definitely on the list, at the moment its nice and slow progress we want to test everything rigidly so we can get a definitive idea on whats going on with the rifle. Thanks for watching
Excellent Jake, another very interesting vid and great attention to detail, I can see your going to be up there next comp, Geoff had better get his finger out as so should we all
That's really interesting and great to see it quantified. A while ago I noticed a shift in POI with my HW100KT which I traced to the barrel band putting a downward pressure on the top of the barrel. When using a Bipod the extra pressure from the clamp on the Sling Stud stick screw had caused the bottom of the barrel band to bed progressively further in to the stock causing the shift. Any change to the pressure underneath the gun was transferring up to the barrel and sometimes causing the POI shift, although it was mostly only noticeable when putting away and taking out again. Currently I'm using a Rowan Engineering Floating Barrel Band to negate interference to the barrel and I have cut a thin metal (Beer can) spreader plate to sandwich between barrel and stock which is easy to add to if required to relieve pressure from the band on to the air cylinder. I think of I was going to try another band I would want to experiment with perhaps some method of bolting in both axis so I could adjust alignment and fix in position, perhaps in a similar way to the Sabre TRS Delrin shroud clamp 🤔 Thanks again 🙏👍
Cheers mate, we saw a definite improvement, with the chopped off one, although a few people have suggested lifting the block in the stock and fully free floating the barrel and cylinder, which I will have to check out at some point. Thanks for watching.
You will be please to know that as long as the marker is touching the blue line, ie no white showing between the two circles it counts as the higher score so definitely a 250. The scoring pin you are using is fine for this testing and practicing but they have been updated now and the newer design with no magnifier, is the official scoring pin. Great video, keep up the good videos
Interesting very good to know that, do you have a link for the pin by any chance? It would definitely be best to be using the right one, but for these tests it doesn't matter that much. Thanks for watching.
Hi ya so I'm confused generally speaking iyo is a barrel band better to have or not. I've seen lots of people go from a free floating set up to a fixed setup
so very interesting indeed . i would say definitely an improvement for sure. as you say also you have to take into account your not fully used to that rifle yet
Shots 5, 8, 22, 23 ? Plugged using inward gauging ? Domed always leave tear marks and not the true hole size or centre, unlike wadcutter characteristics. Looks good for a 249. What went wrong with 1 shot Jake, heheheeee
Brilliant stuff jake , it's good to see the improvements on each video you're doing. Apparently if you float the cylinder as well as the barrel on the underside of the block towards the front there's a long grub screw , if you change it to a shorter one you can put another stock screw in it that stabilises the action in the stock, I believe this is common place for the bench rest boys. 👍
Cheers Phil, interesting ill have to check that out and re test, interesting to see what the little changes do the way the rifle performs. Thanks for watching.
Yeah I know, but for this test I was not too worried about score I wanted it to be harsher to get a more better idea of what was happening, but thank for watching.
