I had the pleasure of meeting him. You are 100% correct. Kind, humble, gentle, accommodating, ultra-intelligent master.

The commercial works. Well that is definitely something unique about Ansel Adams, something I have never yet seen before. Thank you much.

Hi Marc. Thanks for another nice video about Ansel Adams. His son mentioned that Ansel's cameras went to the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Arizona. For those who do not know, that center is part of the University of Arizona (Tucson). It used to be housed in a much smaller building, but as the collection grew, they needed a much larger building. So they started the new building sometime in 1982 (to the best of my recollection). I was just starting graduate school at the U of A. Ansel came for the cornerstone ceremony (he had donated generously to the building), and I had the pleasant opportunity of meeting him briefly on that day. I hope you would consider a visit (and a video of course) to the Center for Creative Photography, but please make it long enough (it's a large building, 5 or 7 stories, and may need multiple visits and videos). I enjoy watching your videos here, and on DPR, but I feel that the videos go too fast on a lot of things. This observation is especially in the Ansel Adams series. Thanks again, and keep up the great work.

+Sam Googlian thanks Sam.would love to film there. It's always a dilemma what to leave in or out of each video -- hoping to make more in depths as we move forward. Marc

Hi there, thats absolutley amazing to have the opportunity to have a look at Anselm's cameras..I just wanted to point out, the particular Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta that is standing there on the table is a 530/16 ( 1935-38) or 532/16 ( 1937-55) and it takes eleven, not twelve pictures. It already had a new developed film advance mechanism that made sure that you wouldn't have overlapping frames as in older models, the prize for that is, that it only takes eleven pictures. The last 6x6 Super Ikonta models had an built in selen light meter as well..cheers

Thanks for that! I’ve not used one myself but it is a beautiful camera and of course the name Zeiss says it t all.

I would love to go through Ansel's home and see his darkroom. Does anybody know if you can tour his home or darkroom?? I know he lived in Carmel CA.

Hey Tom, his home isn't open to the public, which is why I made the video so you could get an inside look. You can visit Edward Westons; home though you can google it, it's also in Carmel when we are, say hi when you come by.

The tiny camera at the end of the video, wow! So tiny for 120 film that I want one ;)

I considered a Super Ikonta B several times over the last 40 years, but never bought one. For a number of reasons, today they are a nice collectible but not a quality or convenient user. Too heavy; front cell lens focusing is an optical compromise to use the funky rangefinder unique to the Ikonta cameras.

I know may not be practical but still cool nonetheless 💥

Adams' home was such that he was able to display many of his photographs. Adams also used the best cameras. But as we all know, or should know, it's not the camera, but the person using the camera. Adams enlarger was big. It was also horizontal. As most enlargers move up and down, Adams enlarger moved back and forth.

Yes it was set on tracks and he had rows of lights he could turn on or off. Quite the technology for the time or really any time
