Sven Hista well obviously i hadn't seen them interviewed before although is a good actor. I think talking yourself as a brand and talking about being on social media cause your fans expect it, is arrogant especially considering the fact they're both starting out as actors ...... i do think he is quite good in the films I've seen.

Karen Fahey (wow this may be long... sorry) I understand why you may think it came across as arrogant. However, if you know anything about the business of film making or even the business of media in general (promoting, advertisement, or even the business of product placement) you would know that people who are looking to be successful are expected, and even /counseled/ (meaning that there are actual people you can pay to go see to help figure out your brand identity), to find their "personal brand" and to start considering themselves, as a person, a brand. This is actually helpful when trying to sell yourself to what you're trying to be a part of. For example, a movie. For people who are /making/ the movie: they don't only choose actors that fit the roles. It is a lot more complex than that. They will try to find someone who will also represent them well, and help promote them into popularity in a way that stays true to their image. (Basically, someone who won't make them look bad) So, what Ansel means when he calls himself "a brand" is that he has a specific image that he has to live up to in order to keep himself relevant. He needs to keep himself on social media for his fans to see, he needs to act a certain way, and all of those things and the specific way of him approaching them, are his "brand." He will take this brand with him and use it to sell himself, and help him excel in the business. If movie makers find him fitting both in the role and find his brand well suited to their own image, and what they are trying to stand for (represent, be perceived as, etc, etc.) They will give him the role! He doesn't exactly touch on all of these details but if you rewatch him explaining it while knowing this information, it is obvious that this is what he's talking about. Sorryy!!! I just felt like you should know! :)

Archeline .Y (Joining this conversation late) I'm not sure that he was boasting, so much as stating that (like the interviewer said,) because he has a fan base which he can access, he is going to take advantage of that. I think by saying that "because of him, more people will see this movie," he was merely acknowledging the fact that he /does/ have a fan base that is willing to go see something simply because he asked them to. He wasn't saying that in a rude sense, like "ha ha! People are seeing this movie because of me!" He meant it in a sense of, knowing what sort of influence he has over his audience and using that it his advantage, /for/ promoting and surviving in the business today. I don't think he was implying that he is the sole, or even a main reason, for this movie's popularity or bragging about his popularity at all. Just admitting that he uses the popularity he does have to help promote his work.
