should i overwrite the authorized key in the slave node or append it with the existing key?

Hi Vinodh, On the slave node you have to copy the public key (like the one shown in the video at 9th min 9:33) . You just keep adding one below other. Do not overrite. You can either use ssh-keygen or you can use putty keygen to generate public , private key. for SCP with identity scp -i , we should generate one more additional key called OPEN SSH which is available via puttygen. For now we can use Public Key and Private Key (which is ppk). Public Key must be placed in the authorized keys file so that the private key can be used to communicate. I mean if you are using a private key a matching public key must be on the authorized keys so that any hosts can allow SSH connection Thank You!

check if u r able to directly able to connect to your slave without password. Else, add your host's RSA in ".ssh/authorised keys" or else disable host_key checking. Check below link for disabling it. docs.ansible.com/ansible/latest/user_guide/connection_details.html#host-key-checking

I'm sure you have solved this by now but "Host Key verification" means you either didn't run ssh-keygen or you didn't copy the key to your authorized_keys file on the other server. Hope this helps!

getting this error using ec2 linux ami as the controller and ubuntu as the slave [ec2-user@ip-100-0-1-174 .ssh]$ ansible -m ping all lab1 | UNREACHABLE! => { "changed": false, "msg": "Failed to connect to the host via ssh: Permission denied (publickey).", "unreachable": true } i can ping both internal ip and public ip on the controller but running the command above gives error i can also connect from controller to the slave via ssh using both internal and external ip addressing

@Intellipaat nvrmind i found a solution, manually defined host on the host file of the ansible instead of creating an new inventory [ec2-user@ip-100-0-1-16 /]$ ansible all -m ping ubuntu@100.0.1.181 | SUCCESS => { "ansible_facts": { "discovered_interpreter_python": "/usr/bin/python" }, "changed": false, "ping": "pong"
