Lying and gaslighting are two different things buddy Judith had a toxic past with a bad family and she just wanted to escape that So she made a new life for herself Under the name Natalie She probably would have told Him when she was ready But his reaction says a lot about him (Honestly his personality through the whole podcast says a lot about him) Dude had a right to be upset But if he really loved her he would have gave himself some distance Time to cool down And talk with her about He even admitted in the future years later he went about his reaction the wrong way He didn’t sit down He didn’t think about why she did it He just ran And abandoned her Twice When she tried to talk to him and be honest and fix things (granted she should have given him time to cool off, but also he was going to leave her forever so she didn’t even have that option) He left her at a hotel on the middle of nowhere She my not have been a saint sure But he heavily went about it the wrong way and regretted it literally for the rest of his life Judith even did the mature thing and stopped chasing him She let him leave even though it hurt like hell Honestly Judith really deserved better than him either way He handled the whole thing in a not so mature way

I’m not gonna go as far as to defend Judith but gaslight is the wrong word like factually. That isn’t gaslighting. Still shitty just a different type of shitty. As for the morality question in the replies: Like I wouldn’t say jace was immature for his reaction as some other replies would say. But if this was an AITA post everyone in the podcasts is the asshole and everyone’s innocent. People are complicated let’s stop painting with broad strokes.

In the middle of the night in a shack only he knew about? He gave himself time and space, Judith denied him of that time, exhibiting very manipulative behavior, which culminated in her burning her documents to build a scenario where Jace is stuck with her, this is typical manipulator behavior. Had Judith not chased him and presented him with an incredible manipulatuive way to tell him the truth as opposed to just... But instead Judith forced herself into the situation when Jace's feelings were still hectic. Emotions are not logical, and Jace could have acted logically had Judith given him the time to work through his emotions but no, with Judith it all has to be now, now, now. Move on now, forgive me now, understand me now. "Judith even did the mature thing and stopped chasing him" The mature thing would have been to not have done that in the first place. The mature thing would have been to call him, leave him a message saying "hey, I know what happened is insane, I understand you're upset at me, and I understand you need to take some time. when _YOU_ are ready, I am here, I really want to talk to you." it's insane to me how many people are on Judith's side, specially when it's pretty clear the writers intended for her to be selfish, egotistical and manipulative. Reverse the genders next time you hear the song and see if you still agree with Judith's behavior.
