If I install 6kW of panels with inverters and 4kW without inverters that would feed a DPU, would I still be able to use the Smart Home Panel 2 auto switching feature and run off the DPU? I realize the inverter panels will be lost for the duration of the grid down period. With 4kW DC connected to the DPU I would utilize the Time of Use feature of the Smart Home Panel 2 when the grid is up.

enphase allows you to get the system controller, but it takes up a ton of space and you'll need to get everything redone with the permits it's a pain in the ass. I wish we could just put the PV breaker and feed it into the smart home panel or use CTs or something to know we are making solar and let the ecoflow charge during those times. They just kinda overlooked some stuff

The Ultra uses low cost (cheap) high frequency, inverter technology that doesn't use an iron core, copper wound isolation transformer which provides a low surge capacity a shorter life expectancy, and a less safe operation due to its lack of galvanic isolation between it DC boost stage and its AC output.

I'm looking for a semi-solar powered UPS for my home office. I'd like to be able to plug the battery into the wall so the home AC can keep the battery above 50%, while also using a panel or two on the side of the house to offset the energy usage and charge the battery up to full when I'm not using the computers. Does something like that exist?

Since we will be charging the 48V /51.2) V battery with solar panels (4 x 480W - Vmp = 37.10, lmp = 12.95A), we would like to have exact information on which Victron MPPT controller is suitable so that the battery will be charged properly (Operatin value charge 43 -58V). Does the Victron 150/45 match the charging voltage? Can the such battery be charged from 200V with a charger, and if so, with what kind?

Can you test when the 120v and 240v ports on the front of the system are enabled while charging via various methods? I'm looking to use the DPU effectively as a 120/240 UPS using the front outputs and 240 input via the side port (with a "AC Generator Charging Adapter"). EcoFlow's FAQ has a fairly confusing entry saying it won't work, but I've heard that it does. > When charging EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra with 120V, it can output 240V normally. When charging EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra with 240V, it cannot output 240V. When charging at 240V using X-Stream charging via an AC inlet, AC output is not available. That is to say, when charging with high voltage 240V input voltage, all AC output is disabled.

Microinverter solar would all just be grid-side of the SHP2, so the solar would not connect to the DPU, but would work just fine as a Grid and Backup solution... just wouldn't get solar charging to the DPU batteries during a grid outage. Not optimal for a long grid outage, obviously, but it would all work just fine with a normal DPU and SHP2 install.

I have a 3500 watt inverter generator. Its 120v only. Would plugging into the 120v charger be my only best option for charging a delta pro ultra? It has a 30 amp plug on it and just wish i could use more of its potential in longer outages. I have the delta pro but have skipped extra batteries and SHP #1 and im planning on a SHP#2 with the 2X DPU and 2 batteries each.
@everydaysolar
@everydaysolar 4 месяца назад
Yeah, I think you would be limited to just connecting up through the 120V for charging. Unfortunately that would also mean you wouldn't be able to bring your inverter input through the Generator side of the SHP2.

@jaysonstebbins2539 4 месяца назад
@everydaysolar that's fair. Sense the SHP2 is 220 connected I would understand that. At least the 120v input to DPU isn't pass-through and strictly just a charger lol.

I have the exact solar system you described with enphase IQ8+ microinverters and a combiner. I wanted to get batteries to optimize my Time of Use usage. I was looking at this Ecoflow setup vs 4 x Enphase 5p. The latter costs me $25k installed but this ecoflow setup is almost 50% of that. Any reason not to go with ecoflow? Any recommendations?
@everydaysolar
@everydaysolar 3 месяца назад
The only issue is how the batteries tie into your existing AC-coupled system. Enphase would be able to tie into what you currently have but for EcoFlow you would have to get the SHP2 and a similar setup to what I am showing in this video. That would most likely only cover part of your existing home demand.

Hello.. Thank you for your video. I have no knowledge about solar system nor back up battery off grid system. I recently purchase Smart Panel 2, Pro Ulta with 2 batteries. My question is, I have my electrician install SP2 for me, and have solar installer install some panels on roof. Will this set up back feed to utilities company if my batteries charge up and solar production is more than my consumption in the middle of the day? Reason I am asking because the NEM 3.0 in CA is a joke now. Don't want to waste time to go through application and at the end of the day, Local utilites company beat me up on selling back kwh for dirt cheap. thank you so much
@everydaysolar

Nope, you will not be feeding power back to the grid with that setup. Your Ultra will just stop receiving the solar input power if the battery is full or at your preset max limit.

@@bdelight5422 The solar power will land in the Ultra and then you will control when and how much you drain the battery to power the circuits wired through the SHP2. If my Ultra is above 30% it will provide power to all circuits in the SHP2. Hope that helps!
@bdelight5422
@bdelight5422 4 месяца назад
It helps me a lot with this piece information. Basically, once the battery is reach certain level which I set, it will start providing energy to wire circuit to SHP2. SHP2 basically never use solar energy directly from Ultra. Instead using the battery that charged up by solar energy, which means it will never back feed to grid.

The answer to question number #4 is not really what I experience with my DPUs and Smart Panel 2. Your answer would apply to a scenario where you lose the grid power. SP2 in EPS mode would switch in less than 20ms, but EPS mode is not compatible with saving modes (like TOU or scheduled tasks). So with EPS turned OFF, in case you lose the grid, it would take about 5 seconds for SP2 to switch to batteries. However, this allows you to use saving modes, TOU or scheduled tasks. If you transition from grid to batteries or vice versa using scheduled tasks, there is 0 downtime. No flicker, no impact on my UPS or computers, the transition is instant, allowing to turn off the grid at the highest rate of the day and run on batteries.
@everydaysolar
@everydaysolar 4 месяца назад
Yeah, I was getting a bit of a lag switching over when I ran a scheduled task with some circuits prioritized to only run above a certain battery level. Then once I reached that threshold and the relays switched that is when things would drop out for 1 second or so. Thanks for the feedback.
@fr3nchy69

@everydaysolar Interesting. I will be testing. I haven't fully loaded the panel and my batteries are charging on schedule, so are always around 90% by the time of discharging. I have a 19.5kW PV system with no batteries ( cld not afford). Im not ready for the SMHP2, but I was thinking about using a 50amp gennie inlet with interlock on the main panel. I would then incorporate 2 DPUs with Hub for shorter outtages and use gennie on LPG for longer periods due to weather or grid down. Should i shut off RSD for the system when I get ready to use generator/DPU for backup? Is there a chance of backfeeding generator or even grid when main is off and gen breaker on? I have not seen this addresed in any of the videos testing generators of any kind for backup for owner of PV systems. Great videos as always.
@everydaysolar
@everydaysolar 4 месяца назад
When you are feeding off the Generator side of the SP2 you can't back feed that power back on the grid. There is a physical interlock that only allows the 100 Amp breaker (grid) or the generator breaker to be on at any given time.

If you only have two delta pro ultras and the 50 amp hub (with no smart home pane 2) do the two ultras communicate with each other and balance their loads and battery capacity? I ask because with the original delta pros, the original double voltage hub did nothing to provide communication and/or balancing between the delta pros. If they got out of balance, the easiest thing to do was to turn off the hub and then just switch the cables for a time (and then switch back as needed). I'm wondering if the same scenario applies with the delta pro ultras with the newer 50 amp hub. Your thoughts?
@everydaysolar
@everydaysolar 4 месяца назад
That is a good question and I am not sure. I would think the balance would be much better than a DVH on 2 Delta Pros since each Delta Pro fed a 120V branch which are usually not balanced in a panel and lead to the units draining down at different rates. With the Ultra setup we would be feedback 240V from each unit so the balance should be much better but not sure if there is a control algorithm in the actual unit to ensure a perfect balance.
