Thank you so much Marlene. I really admire your openness and honesty that is always in your videos. The question about the aha moment when you come to accept your body really struck a nerve with me. I have just turned 74 and have lived all those years being ashamed of my body and having no confidence at all. I never considered there was a shape until recently and that I am definitely an Apple shape and also that there are many others in the world with this shape. Your channel went a long way to change my way of thinking and attitude so for this I am very grateful. I am so tired of apologising for who I am so I’m now aiming to do the best I can in terms of styling my body in a way that makes me feel good and not worry about what other people may think.
Well done you 👏👏 Many of us who are a little older was never brought up with the awareness of these things, our parents and grandparents had other worries to care for and rarely considered such things, meaning we never learned. Thank you Marleen for this Q and A very interesting, I am a type 2 for many years now I have struggled with my weight, I am apple shaped and 4 in shorter than you!! Only after finding your channel have I learned how to dress my big belly!! I have tried to embrace wide leg trousers they look so good on you but my legs are too skinny and short and never look good on me I think anyway so thank you for your inspiration and I for one you have helped enormously so keep up the wonderful vlogs I so enjoy them take care of yourself xx
Ah Mary I’m sorry you have t2 as well. It’s been a big change in my life, but covid has destroyed my health sadly. As for the wide leg, try a pair more straighter than wider. It may work better, hope that help. Thank you so much for you support, I’m glad I can help inspire a little xx
A lot going on in my body at the moment Mary, long covid, t2 as well as perimenopause. No one seem to know what is what, only that I am exhausted. And we don’t have a lot of support here where I live sadly. But we’ll figure it out as we go along I suppose lol xx

Crud. I missed the question submission. I’ve been wondering if you ever wish you could pick up items from stores that you don’t have access to there. For example, here in TX, I can’t go to a primark. However, I can go to a target, old navy, etc etc. Do you find yourself watching someone else on RU-vid or whatever trying on pieces from a store you can’t get to?
Not to worry dear, there is always next year lol. But yes, you guys have some fab looking shops over there I’d love to try, some does ship over here but it’s expensive and I do have to consider the budget lol. And as for watching RU-vid, I’ll be honest with you, I don’t want much at all. I’m not much of a “tv” person, I’m more of a book person x

And honest, you look 35, not older!!! - It's bad that many have to fight so much to be accepted in our society because they don't meet that perfection and that while perfection is boring!!! That diversity makes life interesting! When I was young I measured 1m68 and weighed 60 kilos and yet people thought I was too fat, now I look back at it and think: "what were they talking about, I was beautiful!!". Now I'm 1m63 and 81 kilos and have been a nice soft apple for a long time and I am happy with it! Why? Because there are so many beautiful clothes available that used to not be the case in the past, and because of sweethearts like you! The only thing that should count is not your appearance, not what gender you are, not what skin color you have or what religion, but your inner self. Your soul!!!!! - That and that there is no hate anymore, that would be amazing, do you not agree, Marleentje and sweeties?? - My style is all over the place ROFL but I do love color, most of all bright colors such as fuchsia, (wine) red, purple, etc, and long dresses or skirts (airy haha). - Icw Harry Potter: For the son's 30th birthday in September I ordered a Harry Potter book that is turned into a print work (image or words of your choice are cut out in the pages so that when you open the book on a shelf/cupboard you can see this image/words to see! And, if I were to receive/win that much money I would put it into research into our disease (fibromyalgia) about which a lot of BS is still being said! We love H.P. too and also Star Wars!!! I bought the real H.P.- butterbeer for my son and a mug, he was so happy with those and still is! - O darling, we so feel you, brainfog and exhaustion here too, 24/7 often excruciating pain and fatigue are seriously underestimated! And yes, like you, we also have multiple health problems, so that the question for us is often: "Which disease causes what?" I find an umbrella very difficult, because you don't have your hands free. And because we have no car I use that raincaper and hat a lot!!!! It's amazing and pretty (I have both the Van Gogh- and Monet- print) - Problem for us, is that to send something back that I ordered, that we don't have a car and the post office is too far away to have to go on foot. Age and health problems. - Sweeties, I have found that when I wear color (bright colors) I get compliments!! When I still wore dark colors, because I was told that it had a slimming effect, I never received a compliment! Colors fit my skintone better and I think that is what to look at! My younger cousin fi. always wore black (also as a top) and I showed her (by using different colored pieces of fabric and scarves) which colors suited her best and that black (as a top) made her skin look very dull. Since then she has worn much more color and still also black, but only as pants or skirt. If she wears a black top (sweater/top/other) then she puts a colorful scarf around her neck! Much better. So look at your skintone and try different colors next to your face while looking in the mirror. - Sweeties, If you really want a beautiful (evening-) dress for a wedding or special occasion and it may cost a little more, take a look at: JESSA KAE: www.youtube.com/@JessaKae she has so much beautiful gows also for our size and shape!!!!!! And she shows them also on real plus size models too!!! - - Many people only look at the number that indicates the size of the clothing they want to buy!! Just take the right size and ignore that number, don't be ashamed of that 'larger size' but be proud of your body, especially if it is otherwise healthy. Plus enjoy all those beautiful clothes that you can now find in your size, in stores and online. - You can also wear kiiten heels or something with a not to high wedge heel or block heel!! I love wedge shoes/boots, even sneakers with a wedge heel HAHA. Comfy and pretty + you look a bit taller ;-) - When I go shopping or have to go to the doctor or clinic, I always wear something that I like, that is colorful! Because it has also been scientifically proven that wearing color makes you feel better emotionally! Dress for yourself, not for others and don't always keep your beautiful clothes for special occasions! Just wear them if you feel a bit down or just for fun!!
