Doing some ride arounds on a 1986 BM Quad and a 1998 BM quad. Chatting about what it takes to get into the industry and current challenges. #skilift #skiequipment #chairlift #ski
Man, thank you for what you do❤! I am a 13 year old kid passionated in ski lifts and ski resorts and programming and in the future I would like to have my own ski resort and software company. You are really motivating me and 2nd time thank you for your videos!
I started working on ski lifts in 1972 at a large ski area in California. What a great job, guess that is why I stayed there for 40+ years. You are correct about the difference in large and smaller ski areas. The larger ski areas, you normally do one type of job. I really enjoyed riding around the lifts looking, listening and feelings the lift as you pass over the tower. Be safe and keep up the good work, I do like watching your vids, reminds me of the good old days.
As a member of the industry community to the south I’d like to thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Similar to your role I am responsible for all mechanical maintenance at a smaller ski hill. Finding well informed sources in the industry is becoming increasingly challenging and the info you provide on your channel is incredibly valuable.
Thank you for watching and it’s great to hear from industry folks all over. If you have any specific questions feel free to reach out and fingers crossed for a better season next year!
Thanks for sharing what goes on at all the locations you work at. You hit on a very good point about relationships! I work as a mechanic in the golf industry and that always means at a small club where I'm located, I'm on call pretty much the whole summer! As well I'm a operator on the bigger grass cutting machines as well. My Wife is the most understanding, she knew it would be tough at times being involved with someone in this industry and closing in on 30 years together still going well! To be fair I pretty much have the winters off to enjoy winter sports and such, that helps immensely! Until recently, when I discovered your channel I always found ski resorts interesting from the mechanical side, lift maintenance especially! I don't think I'll try and sell my wife on the idea of me getting into a new profession at this point and time! 😂
My poor wife calls herself a “winter widow” The hours and days can be long but the work and people make it all worth while. Thank you for watching and best of luck for your season.
I live in Scotland and am thinking of becoming a lift mechanic I am still in school and I'm wondering what should I do to have the best chance of becoming one.
I would study up on what legislation governs ski lifts, try and take some basic electrical and hydraulic courses, and do a working at heights training. If you’re really intersted you can also order the book Ski Lift Functions, Maintenance & Regulations by Peter Wood which is an amazing resource for all things ski lifts.
