Hey Cindy love your vlog channel, and main channel. For the next Q&A can you answer what were the colleges that you applied to. I am currently in High School as a senior and I will be graduating in May but I am deciding what college I should go to near my home San Francisco State University or San Jose State i got accepted to both of them. I didn't apply to UC's because my SAT score wasn't that good otherwise i would definitely apply to UCLA. Love you

+Emma I got into UCLA and did not have the best grades. Summer programs, volunteering, internships, and sports or clubs are great things to do that make your application strong. The UC application only has 5 spots for activities so you have to chose them wisely. Chose the activities that will show diversity and commitment. Make sure you spend a lot of time thinking about your personal statement and actually working on it. It can make a difference.

I got an average of 9.8 (the grading system in Mexico is from 0-10, 0-worst 10-perfection, even though if you get less than 5 [which is equivalent to failure] it will still appear as a 5), also I'm fluent on English (obviously Spanish) and I know basic French, Right now I'm just on the students council, the debate team, on theatre and soccer team, also I've gone to a couple of international exchanges with my school (Idk if this information counts so I'm writing it anyways), Do you think I could be accepted? I can't afford the UCLA, can I apply for a scholarship even if my application was as an international student? How can I convince my parents that this would be a great investment for my education?

One of the best things about being an international student I didn't have to pay $60,744 because the euro is worth less than the dollar so my parents has to pay about $10,000 less which is great but then there is the struggle of having to ship most of my stuff over because it won't fit on the plane

How does poli sci at UCLA compare to UCSD? I'm planning on majoring in poli sci too and I'm so torn between the two schools. Is UCLA more rigorous, are students there more competitive? Are there a lot more internships in LA? Thanks!

I don't know about transferring students, but its college. You can literally leave campus ANYTIME you want. Even at 3 am. Plus some people even skip classes to go out, which I absolutely do not recommend.

also I totally agree with you saying that you don't want college to end, it's true that it is one of the best times in your life (also most stressful haha). i can't wait to be off to uni here in the UK like my sisters have though, the UK equivalent of high school is really dull tbh. and btw, maeve is pronounced like may-ve :) thanks for answering my question! Just like you, if I am able to attend UCLA and be admitted, I will be an out of state student and the cost is crazy. What are your tips for scholarships and financial aid if you have parents that aren't in a low income bracket?! I am one of five kids so even though we are well off, college expenses are through the roof. I'd appreciate any advice!

+Natalie Diane Financial aid is great if you can get it, but that's out of your control since the school and government decide that, but you have complete control over scholarships so apply and do your research!

Is the workload at UCLA as hard as people mention? Like from the outside UCLA is super hard to get into because it is such a good school, but when you get there, is the work harder than you expected? Was UCSD hard for you and how did you do there? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just really curious. UCLA is my dream school haha:)

+Laurxo It's college and UCLA is a very prestigious university so yes there is a lot of work but that's with any college experience. How "hard" it is is based on your major and you ability to perform and do your work :)

It's hard to get into a rigorous school like UCLA with a GPA below 4.0. HOWEVER, if you're involved in and DEVOTED to (meaning you've had history with it) meaningful extracurricular activities/clubs, sports, as well as have a competitive SAT score, you can still get in. Oh, also, your personal statements play a large factor as they reveal to the admission officers a scope of who you are and why they should accept you, particular. But keep in mind that GPA is the first thing they look at-- out of the things I've just listed, GPA is still the most important. GPA =cake , EC activities, clubs, sports = icing. But you know, you don't have to go to UCLA or top notch school to have a good collegiate experience. The prestigious schools are "prestigious" in the first place is because of the students that attend. Wherever you go, it's solely up to you that determines your success. Work hard and become great through your own means, not through the prestige of the school, for its role in your success depends on you.

Get good grades like one or two b's max and take lots of ap and honors classes, also get good sat or act scores like 2100+ would be safe and decent ec's related to your major! Also having a good story for ur essays wouldn't hurt :)

I've been thinking about going to Ucla and I am number 2 in my high school class. Even though I might have the grades, I am worried about the other side of applying such as recommendation letters because I just realized how important their reviews are and my teachers don't know me very well. (I'm a junior right now) How did you go about creating a stronger presence in high school? Conversation starters that' don't scream "Hi. I'm inly talking to you bc I want you to like me" or any other advice would be extremely helpful?

+Emma You have to be genuinely interested in who you're talking to. For my I was extremely close with my Student government adviser as well as counselor and vice principle.
