I passed the Desktop ProAdvisor exam about 7 years ago on one try. I thought it was moderately difficult as you had to know their terminology for things and it seemed like it was geared to help you market and recommend more Intuit products more than hard and fast bookkeeping or accounting knowledge. I never renewed it though as I obtained a regular job so saw no need. Have not taken the QBO one yet, but thanks for the tips here. I plan on taking it soon. Do you have both QB certifications or just QBO? Thanks again for these videos - very helpful.
I just have QBO, the DT one seemed pricey when I looked into it years ago... and now I focus mainly on Online. I agree that they are always pushing their products. :)
I passed the first 6 modules but not the last 2. I have one more try. A little frustrated because I passed the 6 modules in 4 days of COVID quarantine. Maybe I'll take a little break & regroup.
Your channel is amazing! What a wonderful job, it’s really appreciated. I’m currently taking a course to learn bookkeeping but learning online is not easy for me & love your teaching style
Normally I take the certification exam and pass the sections that I can by answering questions. Since its an open book exam, when I go back to retake the sections I didn't pass I will open QBO in a second window. I am more of a visual learner so when a read a question that sounds a bit confusing I go into the second window and go to the place where the question leads.
Another tip on "Classes". Really helpful for non-profits as they typically have to track all income and expenses by programs, Fundraising and Mgt/Overhead. Clients need this to have their 990 tax return completed correctly.
I just passed this exam today. Now i will try to learn how to do desktop, hopefully i can find a job where i can gain experience. Thank you for this knowledge.
Aloha! I am currently a student and I do plan on takkng the quickbooks certification exam soon. I do have some experience from learning Quickbooks Online in class and prepared over hundreds of invoices and creating new SKUs using Quickbooks Online for a non profit organization here in Hawaii. However I do feel like I don’t know as much and would love to learn more about becoming a bookkeeper in the future. Would you recommend for students to take this certification even with no experience?
Hi, If I have QuickBooks proadvsior certification. is it considered as experience? I am looking for job-related bookkeeping but I don't have bookkeeping job experience. so do you think it helps me get a job?
Hi Morgan, I flunked my first 3 tries. Actually I passed all modules but #7. I forgot to check all my answers before submitting it and immediately regret it. So have to wait till September.
I passed the first certification exam without issue and found the exam prep videos very helpful in answering the questions (including links at end). A word of caution...it's about 5 hours of video time time plus a great deal of time spent copying screens or note taking. It's a big investment of time but I found that some of the exam questions were so insignificant that had I not referred to the video material I likely would have selected some wrong answers. I'm currently working on the advanced certification but as many have commented online, it is difficult to pass and I'm not sure it is worth the effort.
