Before performing solver simulation in Ansys Mechanical, it is essential to generate a mesh on the geometry parts using the Mesh ribbon in Ansys SpaceClaim. Meshing is a crucial process in ensuring the accuracy of the simulation results using Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
The process of meshing involves dividing the geometry into small elements with nodes that represent the shape of the geometry. FEA solvers work better with regular shapes like cubes, while irregular shapes can pose a challenge. Hence, meshing is necessary to transform these irregular shapes into recognizable volumes or elements.
The quality of the mesh plays a crucial role in determining the accuracy of the simulation results. To ensure the quality of the mesh, several checks are conducted by the software. These checks include element quality, aspect ratio, Jacobian ratio, warping factor, parallel deviation, maximum corner angle, skewness, and orthogonal quality.
One of the significant advantages of using SpaceClaim Meshing tool is that it allows you to obtain a 100% hex mesh on complex CAD geometry, which would be challenging to achieve using other meshing tools. Therefore, using the Mesh ribbon in Ansys SpaceClaim is an essential step in achieving accurate simulation results in Ansys Mechanical.
