Hi! I'm doing some research in pipe stress in ANSY, i have to model a system and compare two results. One without expansion joint and one with expansion joint. This is the first video i can actually see how to use pipe idealization, pipe temperature and pipe pressure wich are the most important things. Do you have more material about this? I can't use Caesar ii or AutoPIPE wich are the best software for pipe stress analysis, i must use ANSYS. Can u help me with that?

Hello, Thank you for video. I have question ? Why we have to change deformation scale. I am doing also pipe stress analyse like you in my project. When i want to scale true scale 1x all pipe looks like seperate from each other. What is the reason of this. I want to see real deformation, if we select undeformed i cant evaluate result properly.

can we use this method to analyze pipe stress due to vaccum flow?

In this "pipe" model it's possible insert the internal pressure and calculate the Von Mises stress in the pipe? If not where is the good way for a calculate a long pipe with internal pressure? Thanks

To calculate pipes regarding the pipe code and standards -ASME, ANSI, ASTM, AGA, API, AWWA, BS, ISO, DIN - the Von Mises stress is not necessary. Anyway, you can calculate the Von Mises stress by using a 3D-Model of the pipe using shell elements. This should be done in a little while if the model is not far to big.

Else use Caesar II software

I prefer ROHR2

Hi, after correcting to "Factor: 1, x Pipe Diameter" at 9:00 there is still the same error as before.. do you know what I did wrong?

When it comes to pipeline support it’s not exactly the best solution. In practice, we encounter that the pipe usually rests only on the underside. This would mean that the pipe is possible to move in all directions except downwards. This cannot be achieved with Ansys standard boundary conditions. However, it is possible to use a nonlinear spring (combin39 finite elements) but this is not the simplest solution, especially for someone who is a beginner at Ansys. If you know a simpler way, I would kindly ask you to share with us. Thank you in advance.

I imported elbow in SLD file and tried for analysis of pipe pressure like your videos but pipe pressure doesn't seen. model has to create with line in Ansys to add pipe pressure ?

No, you cant put pipe pressure on a 3D model. But if you use 3D elements or shell you just can apply the pressure on the inside surface. And dont forget to simulate the axial force by putting a negative pressure to the cut surfaces.

Where is your sound?

Could you make the meshing more fine ? Also the pipe circular section after solver shows like small hexagonal rings one after another. Could you make it more fine and lim--->a circular shape

Hi, we used PIPE and ELBOW - Elements. Please check ANSYS Documentation. The shape you see is just for visualization purposes.

Sound is deactivated because the steps in the videos are not state of the art anymore.
