I am so glad I went back to Art Stone and picked up the other large antelope dendrobium. Today I had to water it. I am keeping it in my screened in porch. Boy, is the pot heavy. I water it outside so I have to tote it in and out of the porch. I think that is going to get old soon. Maybe I'll keep her in a wagon.

Blanca.... would a wooden plant stand on rolling wheels from Lowes, or a cart on wheels work for transporting in and out ?
@blancaacosta333
@blancaacosta333 3 года назад
@@prestonnorris9822 Hi Preston. I do have a wooden slat plant holder with wheels. The problem is the wheels go in every direction. When I push it to the right it wants to do a circle to the right, and same thing to the left. (It's like a circus cart). Lol. What I really need to do is find a spot outside where it will not get that afternoon sun, plus not get sprayed with the reclaimed water. (Too salty). Thank you Preston.

A note of caution! Some antelope types can grow very big. I have a dendrobium discolor on a tree in my yard with canes over 2 meters (6 feet) long. If you have the room for these beauties they will not disappoint you.

🦌🦌 love the Antelope Dens. Had many yrs ago, one I had was very small size for the type but always seemed to be blooming. Don't have any Dens right now, always had bad luck with the Mini's. I like your new script for the channel.. looks sharp. Have a great day Todd... Dr. Appt today with nephrology.

Very nice orchids. Love the little ones, too cute. I’ve had my bloopers too where I either accidentally cut off a spike or broken it. I feel your pain. 😢😔🌴

I love my antennatum!! One of the few that I have which are considered antelope. The little ones that I have do not bloom as insanely as my antennatum, but that doesn't matter... now that I have an antennatum doing it's thing, I am content.

Seems some crosses aren't as bloom heavy as species, and why I got some. But not always, the new primary screams out blooms so I was told.

I swear Den Samurai (antennatum x stratiotes) is constantly in bloom, antennatum blooms probably 1/2 the year. As far as the antelopes go, they seem to do well in a little less light. And they're smaller so easy to mount. Now with a little luck, maybe I will have canaliculatum blooms next spring, I got a nice big fat bulb out of one this year.

Starting to think I am not giving my Dens enough light. Are you giving Dens stronger light than Cattleya types?
@toddstropicals
@toddstropicals 3 года назад
Yes and they'll bloom in Cattleya light also. It's just they can tolerate full sun if acclimated so basically more light more blooms.

I have a long skinny cane on my Antelope but it's an eye sore as all the leaves are off of it for about 2 of the three feet. I want to cut it in half but don't know if it won't bloom if I do this. I'm new to these plants and have a few different ones. The Phil loone antelope that's kind of white with a purple lip and green horns is what I have. Can I trim this down? Will it bloom from older stalks or just the one newer one always ?
@toddstropicals
@toddstropicals Год назад
The antelope do rebloom on older canes unless it's an immature plant of course. I'd probably cut it if it's unattractive, other than that I only cut canes if they're totally spent and drying up. Thanks for watching and good luck with your Dendrobium.

I saw a cobalt blue antelope dendrobium at the local garden center a few years ago. Little dime sized flowers on a long spike. Fragrant too. I didn't get it because I thought it would be fussy. Whatever it was (any ideas?), I think about it almost daily. Oh well, I was recently gifted a samarai and I'm thrilled. Thanks for the tips and so sorry about your plant. I'd still be cussing!
