The antenna equations are below:
Mon-band vertical: 234/F(MHz)=L'
Radial wire: 240/F(MHz)=L'
Dipole: 468/F(MHz)=L'/2=1 side

1 why not use actual wavelengths instead of "feet"? 2 are you sure a standing wave ratio is about *ohms*? I always thought it was the ratio between the signal the transmitter puts into the coax and the signal that comes back from the antenna. Shouldn't that be expressed in (milli)volts? 3 how (as in why) do radials reduce SWR? Can you visualise it? 4 why don't you show us an actual balun? Is it just a "shunt"? feel free to refer to other videos if you explained it there already :-) oh and 1,0 MHz equals 300 Meters

1: When I learned the equations I learned them in feet so it was easier for me to explain it that way instead of re-calculating. 2: While in theory it is the reflected signal, you need to know WHY that signal is being pushed back. The reason signal will return to your transmitter is because of resistance in your coax. 3: I will make a video for you soon. 4: This is a basic video and I didn't actually have a real Balun on hand. As long as you understood what they did I was not going to go into the science of how they work.

balun for uhf dipole?

Hi, do air chokes/balun work on a vertical antenna, so much conflicting evidence about
@amateurradioworld8321
@amateurradioworld8321 6 лет назад
If 'air chokes' is referring to a choke without a ferrite, then YES, they work just fine. The Butternut antenna by DX Engineering uses one of these chokes to tune for 80m. You can also use these to tune Hamsticks. I have used them in the past and they work marvelously. Unfortunately, I cannot solidly answer your question about baluns at this time. I'll let you know if I come up with something.

2 to 1 swr could be 25ohm antenna to 50ohm coax. Not just 100ohm antenna to 50ohm coax...

I tagged your comment because you are SOO right and it totally slipped my mind during the filming.

Only in my personal world of resonance. usually an HF rig can handle 1.6:1 at 100W.

I use a tubular dipole, called a Sirio SD27, check out my video please. It's an awesome antenna which can be mounted horizontally or vertical. This video helped me with understanding how radiating patterns work. Thanks a lot,73's.

It's not 1 Megahert - no such thing!. It's 1 Megahertz for 1,000,000 cycles per second, just like it's 1 Hertz for one cycle per second - a unit of measure named for Heinrich Rudolph Hertz, the first person to provide conclusive proof of the existence of electromagnetic waves. How did you ever pass your license exam?

Please excuse my poor articulation I was using a horrible MIC. and, yes I know how the cycle works.

Stop using your ancient imperial sistem, use SI. Measuring anything with sweaty feets (and inches, as well) makes you look stupid. For example, it forces you to use some awkward coefficients for antenna 468...340...

It doesn't make us look stupid, it makes us sound like we are in the US. Don't berate us, feel empathy for us, stuck in a country that still uses Imperial measurements. It forces us to do conversions all the time, doing more work to get the same results. And we need twice as many tools in our toolboxes as well! Wish our government had switched to Metric in the 1960's when it was first attempted!
