Same shit here C Mor. Exactly how it went for me. Colin Quinn is my dude to.I was a Stern fan until Artie left. Stern show went downhill fast after that and i went searching for other shit to listen to.
If Artie was sober for this A&A partnership, these dudes would be a FORCE; better than when O&A had great chemistry back in the day & better than Howard's best years. Anthony is the BEST personality in radio, hands down and the 'Artie Years' were the highlight of the Stern era. The 'old' Lange is sorely missed but I still respect the hell out of him. Hopefully he realizes he deserves happiness & gets his life together - if he does, his most successful years are still to come. God bless that lovable bastard - we're rooting for ya Artie!

Still amazing chemistry with Ant and Jimmy. They should be working together permanently. They are both instantly funnier when working off of each other. This was fucking great
People love to crap on Sam, but he knows when to sit back and let great radio happen. Anthony's first show back in 3 years and having Artie here was truly great radio.
I wish sam had replaced opie, and ant never got fired. Sam isnt the best, but he serves the same role as opie, without the greggshells, or bad call breaks.
@Shit Hawk sam is self aware and can take criticism without resorting to bank account numbers. Also Sam's sarcasm is funny and maybe that's just a New York think, but opie regularly bombs and repeats the jokes that do land until long after they're no longer funny.

Robbie Helferstay Anthony and Jimmy are reactionary comics so they need a straight edge guy to mold what they make jokes about. They’ve both admitted this that they couldn’t run a show by themselves. While opie got bitter towards the end and whiny he was a great sidekick to Anthony in the old school o&a days. He wasn’t always a buzzkill.

thiland travlar you are out of your mind if you think the Stern show is as good as ever. I gave up on Howard's show permanently 3 years ago. I had been a die-hard fan since 1986, on WNBC. The show is a shell of itself, Hollywood Howie pissing and moaning about ho w people don't kiss his ass, what he doesn't have, how unfair it is, and the suck-ups just say yes boss. The Stern show died from a thousand cuts, the deepest being Artie's unceremonious exit. It's a shame, but I don't miss it at all.
dUmn As What Stern show rejects do you see? Neither Sam nor Jim has ever been on Howard's show, Ant was in once, so long ago it doesn't count. None of the staff have been on. Are you talking about the fans? The people on TV behind Sam? Callers? I get that you are trying to defend your boy, but Howard showing up for less than 90 days a year and mailing it in for well over a decade doesn't count as "better than ever." It makes him a lazy twat and makes you look even worse for settling for it.

Pretty sure Bill Burr can't stand him. They butted heads multiple times on O&A, and Burr has since done Opie's terrible podcast but has never guested on Compound. Or has he? Tbh I'm not a subscriber, but I do follow Ant through yt and I've never seen a vid with Billy attached.
I was not expecting Ant to look so...normal. CQ infamously cooked him once by saying he looked like _a back-alley Tunisian knife-fighter_. Because he did.

snmthecloser I haven't seen him in a long time when he walked I almost started to cry. He looked like death but once he started to rift with everyone it breathed life back into him. I hope he finds something that works no matter what it is.
I still enjoy any interview with Artie Lange! He recharged the Stern show with his quick wit, even battling a drug problem. I hope he finally beats his demons. I have watched all the Stern shows with Artie!
if someone told me 6 years ago that Artie would outlive Anthony, I woulda told them they're nuts. I mean, I still would now, only slightly less emphatically.
I remember listening to this live. This summer was great Anthony was going into Jim and Sam that year. The chip podcast was great that year Jim and Sam were going on Anthony’s show I really miss these times they probably will never do shows like this ever again which is so sad.

Add Ant permanently, watch the ratings and money increase. Show Sirius the money and this can happen. Bring Ant back and all his fans return along with him. All they care about is the money. Make it happen.
i know Ant plays it close to the vest with his emotions but you could see his eyes light up when he first looks at sam and i could tell he was thinking how badly he's missed working with sam each day

Wow this is so good. I was just going through some old Patrice O'Neal and Bill Burr appearances on O&A and this format is just perfect. Host and a couple funny comedians talking about whatever. But I did notice how Sam basically said only a few sentences once artie came in.
It is mental looking back in this and thinking people saw Artie and thought "great to see he's back and looking healthy!" Christ he looked next to death. As of may 2020 good to see he's apparently clean and living well. Hope he keeps it going.
You can sort of see the beginnings of Artie's weird hand gestures here -- he's not doing it 24x7 like he does later on Halfway House, but that strange floppy arm-wave is like an early form of it -- gotta be either a nervous OCD tic, or something like popping 'semi-legal' ADHD stimulants -- my guess is the latter. Between all the finger-twirling-around + magic-spell-handwaving he was doing on his second Rogan appearance, Lange looked like he was lampooning ASL. Bad optics.
Sam really helps this flow. Pointing out Denny's joke by saying, "that was in the chamber for a long time." Then saying Ant should've ran to find him, "he's over here, over here." Sam is a better person, but he's just like Opie on the radio.
If I was running Sirius I'd be thinking wow that was very entertaining and smooth. Ant needs Jimmy because he stops him from going too far down the conservative rabbit hole and keeps it funny. Jimmy needs Anthony because he can talk and take the lead and let Jimmy come in with a well timed joke (like a patient counter striking boxer) and of course they have great chemistry. Sam is 100 times less likely to butt in than Opie and 1000 times less annoying so he's fine with me. Shame it will never happen but that show would be a winner and this is coming from a guy who disagrees with most of Anthony's views but it's worth it to hear him back where he belongs. Cmon Sirius grow some balls and make this happen
