Kiedis's interview released in the Japanese version of "Too Tough To Die (A Tribute To Johnny Ramone)" in which he talks about how he started listening to the Ramones and invading the stage during a Ramone's concert in Finland.
My buddy Wayne, who's an older cat was a punk rocker in the 80's who turned gangster in the 90's....anyhow he told me a funny story....he was on the run with his lady, cops were looking for him so him and his lady ran to downtown LA by some run down buildings and motels....him and his lady were hiding behind a bush, bickering yelling at one another, then Wayne sees a limo drive up beside them....up top of the car two topless women pop up, then a few more....all of a sudden Anthony Keidis pops up and hears Wayne and his lady fighting....he turns to see what was the noise and makes eye contact with Wayne, and smiles at him and shakes his head, the singer looked at Wayne's situation and then his own and just kinda signifying to Wayne non-verbally like, "look at your life buddy and look at mine, could've had this dawg" then to Wayne's surprise he gets out of the limo with about nine other women and goes into a little hotel room.... Wayne always tells this tale with slight dismay...lol
I met Anthony many times and he is what he portrays. Maybe some some crazy times but always an intellengent real person. He even let us meet his mother and sister on his bus. COMPLETELY innocent and a wonderful experience. He even offered a ride to the airport the next day ( we were unfortunately going to a different airport).... great man. Good person.
Amy Schneidfuk. You're hilarious. He doesn't give a Sh*t about u...or know who u were, or are, at any point in time ewwwww! You should come up with a special clapping pattern for yourself on youtube or something. That's musical. You're such a gross distraction here. Please go away! Start your own Schneidfuk channel! you are AWFUL!
I definitely get that impression; he conveys warmth, intelligence and authenticity during shows and interviews. I wish him continued success in his career and personal life.
I am just saying it; The band with John no doubt hit the charts and these guys were killing it! But Anthony does not give himself the credit he deserves. All these years he's been the voice of the band. I don't care if he does not play an instrument!
I saw them in 1985 at UC Santa Barbara with a crowd of about 150 people. They were crazy and totally trashed the place. I had never seen a band do that in person and they weren’t famous yet. So, it was a strange experience. Needless to say, they were banned from playing there again.
I think most people can remember times in their lives where they had good intentions but were misunderstood and the terrible feelings of insecurity that can come out of it. Somehow, knowing that Anthony went through something like that is heartening. Like, even someone really well-liked and famous can go through something like that, and maybe the people you look up to can understand your feelings.
Anyone who thinks that rockers are stupid needs to watch interviews like this. My preference has always been singer songwriters. Only the writer can convey the emotion behind the lyrics. Thanks for providing this video! Be blessed, today and always! =)
I agree. I recently got really fired up when I read a blaze` comment that suggested... "Yeah if you're a dummy, become a musician". I got one of those RU-vid moderator warnings for my reply lol.
While I am with you on the intelligence of singer songwriters I disagree that they’re the only one who can convey emotion in a song. The instruments do that work too in a wordless way, I think the singer puts the cherry on top.
I would recommend his book to anyone but especially those that have had addiction. I struggled with addiction I.V to many hard drugs and am now 5 years without one hit. All anyone thinks about is the past and even though I’m clean I’m going though a court battle for my son which was because of gfs side but all they want to know is about the years when I used. His book makes me Know people can change at that I’m not a bad person for my past. Thanks Anthony your honesty is refreshing and your book is a worthy escape for me in the mornings atm 🙏🏼
Having a parent who is in active addiction isn't good for children as anyone who experienced it will tell you. But if you have stayed clean for a long period of time and can prove that then the courts will probably allow you to start having contact with your son.
@T Dowling the whole band? it was just anthony who danced with her and it wasnt that bad jesus, your life mission is to hate anthony it seems you post on every video of rhcp wirth the same shit
Thanx for these uploads, I've never seen them (this one & John's also), yet I've heard that little anecdote about them jumping on the stage in Finland... and everything what was happening after all, in the lobby. Great job, thx again!
I like how casually and descriptively he tells the story of them running across the stage naked when he the Ramones were playing, as if that isn’t like an incredibly stupid thing to do lolol. (3:40 - 6:38)
Ok...if he wasn’t a rockstar and was a boring CPA, he wouldn’t be hot. He would just be okay looking. He also likes his girls 18-19 years old which, intellectually, drops his sex appeal even further. Peter Pan Syndrome is gross and sad.
YES ABSOLUTELY...... ..THE..BEATLES ...THE RAMONES W/AN INCREDIBLY LARGE AMOUNT OF GREAT SONGS. OH AND DONT FORGET. THE RHCP THEY HAVE A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF AWSOME SONGS !!!! woo hoo
I had to look and see what year this was. He is talking about U.S.A trends dictated by media algorithm and referring to pop culture in the U.S. as "strange machine"
He was never not going to be the frontman of a globally successful rock band.. I can see why John had some "distaste" for him as they progressed, but I'm incredibly grateful that they came together to ultimately produce a highly dynamic catalog, capable of soothing an endless sea of tortured souls...
Don't the Ramones play like only 2 or 3 of the same chords for most of all their songs? Not trying to down them and that something that I don't know is true because I heard it in a interview someone gave on RU-vid
No. He is from the USA. Born there, and so were his parents, and grand-parents. Somewhere waaay back, yeeah, his great-grandparents or great-great ones, or something, on one side, came from there. But that ways waaaay back.
@@CamxCam. I was in college when I heard it and I can remember digging it. I think they have a great rhythm section . All I've heard from them since is the singles but I haven't listened to the albums. But the singles have been decidedly un-funky for awhile now . What album cuts would you recommend ?
