kennydenton.com Although some of the versions of the Beatles songs are not great in my opinion, I am a big fan of Anthony Newley/Ray Charles and Paul Williams, so I thought I would post this Thanksgiving 1977 ABC-TV One-hour Beatles Forever, a musical tribute to the Fab Four, Featuring, Anthony Newley, Diahann Carroll, Ray Charles, Paul Williams, Mel Tillis, Bernadette Peters, Anthony Dowell, and Tony Randall.

I've been trying to find this for several years. I did manage to download the audio back around 2016 from some college. For me, Ray Charles and Bernadette Peters were tops. Thanks for relieving my long term anxiety over this! Anthony Newley's rendition of Within You Without You was just so sexy! ;-]

Even as a kid in the 70's, I knew this was very strange. And that was compared to Paul Lynds Halloween special and star wars Christmas

A truly strange piece - however talent will out especially Ray Charles - Anthony Newley and soon to be the highly successful and talented Ms. Peters the toast of Broadway and probably the greatest interpreter of Sondheim.

If only Covid restrictions had existed at time of recording. It's like a missing scene from the Towering Inferno where the Fire Dept. think ''bugger that lot''. I remember the British DJ Tommy Vance ( he has a cameo as the news announcer in Ozzy Osbourne's Gets Me Through ) once referring to the Beatles as ''the most over-rated band ever''. I can see his point, the lyrics are so simple a six year old would roll their eyes at them.

@@miguelrenteria7672 Dear Miguel I would love you to show Paul this wonderful memory. I am sorry I am sure I don’t have any other footage of Paul. Tony Newley was a dear friend and we worked together on various projects and in the mid nineties he gave me copies of hours and hours of his personal archives, which included TV shows Movies/including outtakes and a huge amount of his own 16 mm personal footage. I have only in the last year or so due to semi retiring been working through all this material and still have a ways to go. Well, the one positive is it's nice to know that Tony Randall didn't hate the Beatles. Unless this was an intentional attack. Or he needed the money. And Newley only sang a bit of "Michelle" but still managed to change the words. (－‸ლ)

They were all pretty much at the height of their careers, but this looks like they were dead ass broke and needed to take whatever was offered (like this dumpster 🔥)
