To everyone saying AVE shouldn't be SOTY because he didn't 'progress' skateboarding enough, have you ever thought that there is a large subjective element to skateboarding? It's not just what you do, it's how you do it. AVE has a powerful, unique style which really shone through in his Propeller part, whereas Shane's and Joslin's parts were a bit generic.

So glad they added Dill's Footage , been waiting a while to see those tricks .

After all these years AVE is still KILLIN IT!!

Never knew AVE can shred pools that hard. Goddamn the speed & power on those carves and f/s grind(s). Seeing dudes that are big (Stu Graham,Grosso,Sam Hitz,Salba) shred pools are the best to watch hands down VS little skinny dudes (Curren Caples,Daveed Gonzales,etc...) they rip hard, most of the times even better, but the POWER just isn't there/the same.

The young guys have no idea how sick it truly is to be skating like AVE, for as long as he has. This guy has been killing it for decades! I was super stoked when he was given the SOTY honor! Mad respect, one of the greatest of all time!

I came here with full intentions of not wanting to like him, because i've never heard of him and threw my favorites out the way for soty, but I have to admit , I have a new favorite skater. i like that setup on the sidewalk with the 2 shopping carts with the little kicker . i saw my friend back in 2002 do a hardflip and 3 flip over something like that, wasn't even filmed, we used to just go out and skate nuts for ourselves i guess haha. rock on AVE. SOTY 2015

He skates with so much power. His parts always are not just rad but inspire me to be stronger on my board. His part in the DC video was probably my favorite and this Vans video is going to be my next hard copy purchase of a skate video. I want all that extra shit in there though. I cant stand when they do a video release and then 6 months later release an extended edition.

AVE always executes angry board chucking so beautifully. Must be really satisfying.

he has a very raw hardcore, no nonsense kind of style. skates fast, skates switch a lot, lots of really cool, really rough looking street spots. Overall a sick skater thats been killing it for a long time. Would not have been someone I would have thought of for SOTY, but definitely still deserving of it.

damn! AVE murders everything he touches when he skates. Dill is still killing it and makes all of his tricks look incredibly sick. these two guys are easily some of the best in skateboarding right now and have the best looking styles.

These "Raw Files" really expose Greg Hunt's editing skills, more importantly the lack thereof. You've got AVE skating a pool (with GUY MARIANO?), which just so happens to be the hardest terrain in the world to skate, not to mention DILL with LEE RALPH's bgp, and you're not going to include either in the final cut?

Has the style and the gnar. Ave is a legend in skaing

If you don't know him you better watch watch him in his old DC video part, the way he did switch and combo tricks are amazing, better than any famous skaters we have these days. He deserved to be the SOTY. I'm glad he decided to transfer to Vans back in 2005, it suits his personality and style.
