In February 2016 Stephen Sackur spoke to Anthony Weiner, the New York politician who'd pushed the self-destruct button on his own career not once but twice. Since the recording, he's become embroiled in controversy again.
I know right. His wife is beautiful. what tf is wrong with him?? I don't know what it is with married men wanting to mess around with really sk*nky looking women when they're married to pretty women. same thing with tiger woods.
I don't mind his snarling and snapping and throwing personal jabs so much -- though they are not 'flattering' character traits -- what comes across really, really slimy is his habit of lying once/twice/thrice and backpedaling during the same conversation, clinging to letter-of-the-law terminology like "I TOLD you there might be more pictures" and "That was in the PAST," but then stretching those lines to the point of outright untruths. This was made even clearer in the Weiner documentary, where he verbally strategizes with his staff "What if I say XYZ, oh, wait, that contradicts my earlier statement, maybe PDQ instead." Dirty.
I'm just flabbergasted...This dude needs major humbling...Loss of Career, Loss of reputation, Loss of character, Loss of his family, and that Hot Babe! He shouldn't be near his child....Too risky.
double edged sword he is confident because of his member. but because of the size of that member he has an uncontrollable urge to take pictures of it and show off which leads to embarrassing results and eventually collapsing his own career.
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪, I do think that he would have been a great mayor of the city of New York and it puts us in a personal difficulty to decide weather to disregard the personal life of a politician over the public servant benefit to a city or a country !? It is easy “ to find dirt “ on anybody , after all we are all human but sometimes I do think we should leave it alone and only judge by the accomplishments a person ( politician ) has done for our city, state or country ! Thank you .
classic liar's trick: when asked questions you don't want to answer, just keep pretending you don't understand the question. and try to deflect by criticizing the way the question is constructed. then chastise the interviewer for repeating the same question over and over. him repeating the question is proof that you haven't answered it.
Anthony's current situation (2020/2021) is strange -- kooky-but-goodhearted entrepreneur Dal LaMagna met Weiner during his prison term at Devens, and apparently gave him a 'second chance' as business manager at Brooklyn-based IceStone Countertops -- Anthony lists himself as 'IceStone CEO' on his LinkedIn page, but the IceStone website headlines 'President Lisa Bowen' and omits Weiner entirely.
I was raised in California, currently live in Arizona, but boy, do I miss seeing Anthony Weiner in Congress. Hope the NY 'Pols' grow another set of balls and get him back in good standing.
16:27 shows a weird side of Weiner - he keeps talking about how degenerate and valueless the political media circus is, then breaks into a goofy unflattering Bernie Sanders impression. Sackur seems to tune into this - you’re still a performer, you’re still mugging for the camera. Reminds me of that jaw-dropping scene in the Weiner documentary where, sitting in the car with his (female) campaign manager, he abruptly cuts from talk about his ethical/PR troubles to a bizarre Rodney Dangerfield routine detailing how terrible his sex life is. Pathological.
He’s a psychopath - I’ve noticed he will frequently states that he ‘doesn’t understand the question’ or says ‘what is the question’ yet then in other videos refuses to answer them and says ‘make a point and I’ll respond to it’. Picks and choses and thinks he is better than others.
He is very charismatic guy. He reminds me of Peter Russo from House of Cards. The way he stood up to fox bullies shows that he could have some day had a shot at the biggest job in the country
This Feb 2016 interview happened between Weiner's (late-2015) termination by MWW Group and his (mid-2016) columns being yanked from the New York Daily News. He's clearly still trying to keep up a hard-nosed-political-commentator front, here, playing down his private life, perhaps to preserve his professional brand (and still get a job somewhere). We don't know exactly when the third (underage) scandal broke, but judging from Huma's separation and the NY paper terminations, I think it was August (2016), six months after this BBC spot.
I can't stand the man's Party Views or ideology & Definitely Not his Pervy Hidden Skeltons , BUT HE'S 💯% On His Hard Work Ethnic & Have To Respect His Approach & Speaking Truth To Any1 or Clicks That I Team Up On Him, IT DEMANDS RESPECT His Job & HE SHOULD GET IT, HE DESERVES IT & IF YOU DON'T AGREE WITH THE WAY HE GOT THINGS DONE & CALLED PEOPLE OUT , YOUR ONLY PART OF THE PROBLEM IN AMERICAN POLITICIANS TODAY! 💯%👍
Dude fell into a honey-trap, bigtime. Oh how I long for the days when "private life" had meaning. There's no excuse for committing a *crime* but this guy was just stupid. We need "public" to mean public, and "private" to mean private. Otherwise, we risk meeting in the place where "there is no darkness" (Orwell, 1984). Absolute surveillance.
He seems so surprised and angry at being asked about the sex scandal. Why did you think they asked you on dipshit? 100% to ask those questions. Even if the reporter told you implicitly he wouldn't beforehand, which he may well have, you should have still known he would.
haha i really love this man. Also you can tell he's a Bernie Bro at heart. He's or was only pro Hillary because of his wife. I bet he can now tell us how he truly feels.
This guy really has no idea about public relations. He lied about what he did despite that he'd been practically caught out, then he goes on a talk show and gets defensive about being asked questions about his actions that led to the end of his political career. His attitude is arrogant, unfriendly, unrelatable, cold and angry. Not good for his image at all (if he had one left)!
Why did he even agree to this interview if he's going to be so defensive the whole time? What a child!! Only American politicians have this attitude with Stephen. Any European, or other, politician is much more gracious on Hardtalk!!
Joe M i said what happened to him says a lot- not what he did.... if ur actually interested then i suggest u watch the documentary "weiner" that came out this year- its extremely insightful :)
