My first exposure to Anthrax was the "Stomp 442" album, which led me to "We've Come For You All" and the live "Music of Mass Destruction" album, and it really took me awhile to both discover and then get into their older material with Joey Belladonna on vocals, it was just such a departure from John Bush's gruffer tone, which I kinda loved, but this is definitely one of the songs that really got me over that barrier. Great choice :)

The most under-rated of 'The Big Four' (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax). Always great live. I saw them at Monsters of Rock at Donnington Park in 1987 on the same bill as Metallica and they were awesome fun. Good reaction as always.

Unlike the California bands Slayer, Metallica, and Megadeth are from New York, representing the East Coast. Singer here is Joey Belladonna, their second vocalist. He has a classic metal voice that brings an strong melodic element to their heavy sound. They fired and replaced him with John Bush to change their sound in response to the Grunge boom. Years later Joey rejoined Anthrax. Lots of great Anthrax songs. The best is I am The Law, about Judge Dredd. Another special song is their Public Enemy cover/collaboration of Bring the Noise.

Hey Bro - Anthrax has always been a fun band. Good guys. Check out Bring the Noise, the first rap-metal combo ever with Public Enemy. You'll thank me later.

Would love to see your reaction to Zombie by The Cranberries. It's not metal, just a good song. ❤️🇮🇪

It's a song from their second album "Spreading the Disease". I bought it in early 1986. Together with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth, Anthrax are considered one of the Big 4 of Thrash Metal. But this song is rather moderate and I wouldn't consider it Thrash Metal. As a good example of the latter, I'd rather pick the much faster "Gung-ho" from the same album. While I did like Anthrax way back then and also saw them live on their "Among the Living"-tour in 1987 (where I liked their support act Testament, who sounded rawer, also in the vocal department, and definitely had the better guitar solos, much better), I already lost interest in them after their album "State of Euphoria" in 1988. But the same goes for most of my favourite (Thrash) Metal bands from the eighties. In my book, most of them either peaked with their debut or their second or third album. Even though the vocalists of many Thrash Metal bands usually sounded rawer/more extreme than vocalists of "normal" Heavy Metal bands - Anthrax' singer Joey Belladonna with his rather clean voice isn't a typical example of a Thrash Metal singer -, they didn't sound as extreme as vocalists of more extreme genres later on. Deathcore (which is absolutely not my cup of tea, to put it politely) didn't exist way back then. What you probably mean is Death Metal. While I'm not exactly a fan of Death Metal (whereas Thrash Metal is my favourite metal subgenre, though many of my overall favourite albums are from other subgenres or don't fit any subgenre at all), because the vocals of most Death Metal bands are too extreme for my taste (especially when they sound like someone is suffocating), I absolutely loved the album "Leprosy" by Death (who are perhaps the most prominent band of this subgenre) when it came out in 1988 and I still listen to it every once in while nowadays. If you ever want to check them out, I recommend the title track "Leprosy". Since you mentioned "cute" in this video, I once again have to bring up Lovebites. They have only been around for a few years, but to me they are not only the most versatile "old school" metal band (they don't stick to just one genre), but they actually manage to play at least as good if not better than the best bands in the eighties, especially - though not only - as regards the guitar solos. I think I've already recommended two different songs by them. This time I will pick the official live clip to one of their so far heaviest and fastest songs "Set the World on Fire": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-99zsH6iG_6c.html - Thrash Metal in perfection! I'm already curious how you will process/put together what you see and what you hear. :)

Speaking of sounding like someone is suffocating, Suffocation is an amazing death metal band 🤘

@@ignorevideo Possibly if you like this type of vocals. They are not for me. The reason why I do like Death is probably that Chuck Schuldiner's (RIP) vocals still were closer to more extreme Thrash Metal vocalists. The funny thing is, I don't mind the deep overtone/throat singing as practiced by Huun-Huur-Tu in this collaboration with The Bulgarian Voices Angelite ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r0YKDFq_4Uc.html - but sometimes the line between what you like and what you don't can be very thin.
